He was born in Albany, NY to the late Lyle and Mae (Scheller) Bassett. After graduating high school, he went into the Air Force and defended our country in the Korean War. Richard worked for several years as a Foreman for the Onondaga County DOT. After retirement Richard enjoyed relaxing with a PBR, and cooking for family holidays and gatherings. Along with his parents, Richard is predeceased by one son, Kevin Ryan (May 2022). He is survived by: his wife, Betty (Walters) Bassett; children: Betty Lou Fire, Mark (Elaine) Fire, David (Denise) Fire, Danny Fire, Tracy Ryan (Terry) Underwood, Richard (Michelle) Bassett, Jr., and Michelle Bassett; siblings: Lyle, Francis, June, and Marlene Bassett, as well as Dolores Coleman. He also leaves behind several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be announced for the end of the month. | 1152 | Baraboo News-Republic, September 25, 1931 Old Resident Dies Today Mrs. Lucy Bassett, a resident of Baraboo since 1878, passed away peacefully at noon today after a lingering illness. Mrs. Bassett, nee Helen Lucy Turner, was born at Palmyra, Wisconsin, Aug. 30, 1856. Her early childhood was spent in Missouri and Ohio. Later the family returned to Palmyra and in 1878 moved to Baraboo. On Dec. 14, 1880, she was united in marriage with William P. Bassett, who preceded her in death thirteen years ago. To this union were born four sons, Arthur K., William T., Hollis P. and Charles E. of Baraboo, and two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Eitel, of Waukesha, and Mrs. Bevelyn Holmes with whom she made her home. She also leaves one Brother, A.H. Turner, of Milwaukee, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, besides many more distant relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at two o?clock at the Presbyterian Church. Interment in the Walnut Hill cemetery. A short prayer service was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Holmes. Rev. E.C. Henke officiated. Stanford Richardson sang several solos acoompanied at the organ by Mrs. A. Ch. Reisz. The bearers were D.S. Welch, Albert Wichern, Warren and ZBert Bellows, Albert Lehman, and T.A. Marquardt. Interment was in the Walnut Hill cemetery. | 1154 | Barr-Price Funeral Home Leslie H. Bass July 23, 1938 ? October 13, 2021 The family of Leslie H. Bass, age 83, of Gaston, SC, is saddened to announce his passing on October 13, 2021. Les grew up in Cayce, SC and attended First Baptist of Cayce and later Westside Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School class of 1956. Les was an outstanding athlete and ?lettered? in baseball, football and basketball. He was the 1956 1st Draft Choice as a pitcher by the then Milwaukee Braves. Les played 7 years of professional baseball and was MVP of the Pioneer League in 1959. His love of baseball continued while working for Colite Industries in West Columbia, SC. Les was a successful coach leading Congaree Post 90 American Legion All-Star team to the World Series. Leslie is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bass (MamaBass) of Lexington; sister, Brenda Hook (Davis) of West Columbia; brother, Larry Bass of West Columbia; sister, Kathy Hamby of Murrells Inlet, SC; daughters, Tanya Watford (Donald) of Lake Wylie, SC and Julie Jorgenson (Randy) of Milton, FL. Leslie also has six grandchildren along with six great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Henry Bass, and his younger brother, Earl Bass. | 1155 | Bartlett Funeral Home Ruth B. Northrup Tuesday, April 3rd, 1951 ? Friday, March 29th, 2024 Ruth Bass Northrup was born on April 3, 1951 to Flossie and Milton Bass in Goldsboro NC. She died of natural causes on March 29, at her home in Carver, MA. Ruth was born in Goldsboro, NC. She grew up in Jacksonville NC and later resided in several locations including Georgia, South Carolina, Belgium and Germany. Ruth relocated and made her home in Massachusetts, in 1988. Ruth worked in the retail field as a convenience store manager and eventually owned her own store before retiring due to medical reasons. However, she later returned to the work force and, until her passing, maintained employment as a part-time Home Companion and held a second job as a housekeeper. Ruth was known for her boundless energy. She was an active member of her church as well as a member of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and she maintained the position of Treasurer for her T.O.P.S. chapter. Ruth enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially enjoyed hosting family events and ?get-togethers?. She also enjoyed music, plays, mahjong, and traveling. Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Elliott, Rhonda Chaves and Tabitha Walker, and grandchildren Mandy, Tareka, Rayanne, Robekka, Cheyanne, Keyfer, Jacob and Skye as well as 9 great grandchildren and several ?furry? family members. Visitation will be on Saturday April 6 th from 10:00 am-11:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am at Church of The Vine in Carver MA. Ruth was born in Meriwether County, GA, December 5, 1925, to the late Marion Thomas Fuller, Sr., and Maggie Lee Cook Fuller. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilson Jasper Bass, sister, Mary Jane Heath, and brother, M. T. Fuller, Jr. Ruth was the oldest member of the Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She had worked as a window inspector for the Bell Bomber plant and later as a salesclerk at Belk for numerous years. A loving mother and grandmother, Ruth's commitment to her family and her faith was evident in all aspects of her life. Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Bass and his wife, Linda of Adairsville, and Keith Bass and his wife Melinda of Marietta; granddaughters, Chelsea Bass Janik and husband Joseph and Sarah Caitlin Ryan and her husband Nick; grandson, Wilson James "Wil" Bass; great-grandchildren, Brittain Thomas Janik, Turner Ryan, and Maggie Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. Born November 30, 1936 in Mellen, WI, she was the daughter of the late Everette M. and Edna Drechsel Sawdey. In addition to her parents, Margery was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bass Jr; two sons, David Eric Bass and Randolph Kasey Bass; her sister, Dorothy Sawdey; and two brothers, Raymond Sawdey and Mahlon Sawdey. Margery was a proud veteran of the US Navy. She was a member of the National Association of Uniformed Services, the Fleet Reserve Association (Auxiliary), and the Society of Military Widows. She also retired from Frye Regional Medical Center as a nursing assistant. Survivors include her son, Mike Bass and wife Sonia of Conover; her daughter, Cynthia Bass West of Hickory; her brother, Robert Sawdey of Rockton, IL; five grandchildren, Shannon, Amy, Shaun, Jennifer, and Jessica; seven great grandchildren, Joseph, James, Javier, Jaquelene, Bryan, William, and David; and four great great grandchildren. | 1159 | Bassett Cadwallader The late Bassett Cadwallader of La Grange, Illinois, was born in Maysville, Kentucky, June 13, 1855, a son of John and Amelia (Bassett) Cadwallader. His father was a pioneer photographer in Ohio. His mother was an early leader in woman?s activities and was a frend of Susan B. Anthony. Bassett Cadwallader attended public schools, and when he was nineteen years old, went to work as librarian at Evansville, Indiana. While he was there he originated and developed a decimal system for the cataloging of library volumes which subsequently developed a large following and was recognized by the Library of Congress. The next change in his work was to join his uncle, Dallas Cadwallader. Together they became well known photographers in Marietta, Ohio. Then he lived for a time in Parkersburg, West Virginia, maintaining a photograph studio there, in addition to his studio across the river in Marietta. In later years, after living for a time in Indianapolis, he came to Chicago, Illinois, and became engaged in the advertisting business. It was in 1889 that he established his home at LaGrange, Illinois. There he began the long series of electrical experiments and developments that were to fill his active, useful life for many years thereafter. It is interesting to record that he wired the first house in LaGrange that used electricity. It was in LaGrange that he began his experiments with the writing telegraph which resulted in his development of the telautograph. He holds the original patents on the telautograph. Back in 1891 he started to design and create a new type of electric motor. He devoted practically all of the rest of his life to its development. He maintained a fine electrical laboratory of his own in Boston, Massachusetts, for a number of years. He became one of the leading men in his field of investigation in the United States. Mr. Cadwallader was married April 27, 1881, at Fremont, Ohio, to Miss Gertrude Victoria Moody, a daughter of Augustus and Antoinette (Rockwell) Moody. Their children are Francis and Florence Cadwallader. The death of Bassett Cadwallader occurred February 7, 1938. He and is family had been residents of LaGrange, Illinois, for nearly fifty years. Jerry was born on September 12, 1952 to Melvin and Ina Dell Steward. She married Calvin Bass on April 29th 1980. They had three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was a devout women of faith and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved county and gospel music. Jerry Lynn is survived by her husband, Calvin; her son, Jesse and Belinda Watts of Mt. April 17, 2023 Lottie Delores (Tipping) Bass, of Columbus, KS died 9:11 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home surrounded by family. Her transition was gentle, peaceful, and beautiful. She had hoped to live to age 90, and she met this goal on Easter Sunday this year. Lottie was born April 9, 1933 in Stark, KS, the daughter of John Henry and Minerva Elizabeth (Hoffman) Tipping. Lottie was a graduate of Erie High School in 1952. On August 28, 1955, Lottie married Mason Bass Jr. at the First Christian Church in Erie, KS; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2018. Lottie started her work career as a waitress at the Bluebird Café in Erie, where she met Mason, the love of her life. She then worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. While there, she distinguished herself as one of the Erie girls, who never missed a day of work. Note she safeguarded this certificate for the next 70 years. Later she took a position working as a bookkeeper alongside her husband, Mason, for Union L.P. Gas when they moved to Columbus in 1966. She then took her last position as a housekeeper for 23 years at Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus. Lottie lost both of her parents when she was still a teenager, and throughout her life her priority was always building and supporting her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, and created many Easter, cheerleading, and wedding dresses over the years. Lottie loved living and raising her six kids in the Columbus community. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, and a member and officer at state and local levels of the VFW Auxiliary. She served on the Columbus City Council for Ward 5 from 1986 to 1992. Lottie?s other interests included shopping for shoes (her happy place), talking on the phone with her friends and family, attending her grandchildren?s events, and cheering for the Chiefs and the OU Sooners. She hated to miss her shows, Wheel of Fortune and Days of Our Lives. Survivors include her six children Randall Bass of Columbus, Shirley Bass Redd (and Frank Riley) of Columbus, Sharon Bass Carpino of Columbus, Phyllis Bass Kelly (and Doug) of Lee?s Summit, MO, Phillip Bass (and Cindy) of Columbus, and Loretta Bass (and John Kmetz) of Norman, OK. Surviving grandchildren include John Paul Redd (and Simon Moeller), Robbie and Madeline Carpino, Amanda Treiber (and Darin), Julie Killebrew (and Christopher), Emily Popejoy (and Noah), Mason Bass, Cordell Bass, Augustus Kmetz, Avery Bass, Elliott Kmetz, Blaine Kelly, and Anna Kelly; great-grandchildren include Kaydence and Kylen Killebrew, Ava, Kolt, and Sophie Treiber, Cali and Cami Carpino, and Brooks Popejoy. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. Lottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mason, sisters Amy Madl and Margaret Cobaugh, brothers John Tipping and Dwight Tipping, son-in-law Eric Ewing, and grandson Phillip Ian Bass. Born in Coshocton, Ohio, on Sept. 29, 1937, Patricia was the daughter of Clyde and Thelma Fitch. She has two sisters: Barbara Offutt (Frank Offutt, David and Rebecca) and Judy Foster (Jerry F??oster, Joey and Dean) and two brothers, Jerry Fitch (Shirley Fitch, Mia Ann) and Thomas Fitch (RIP) (Virginia Fitch, Hattie Ann, Charlie and Eddie). Patricia (Fitch) was married to David B. Bassett, (Chicago fireman) for almost 60 years and has three children, Dianna Collier (Ricky Collier), Micheal Bassett (Tracy Bassett) and Mark Bassett (Karen Bassett). She has five grandchildren: Micholas Bassett, Taylor Rose Bassett, Haskell "Bo" Lee (Felicia Williams), Robert Lee (Shelby) and Nikki Lee (Brian Malin) and many great-grandchildren including Kymberlee Malin, Raylan Malin, Kaine Lee, Melody Lee, Lexie and Hunter Lee, Kammie Williams and Tanya Lee. Patricia was born and raised in Coshocton, Ohio, then moved to Chicago, Illinois, to marry her husband, David Bassett (U.S. Navy) and raise their three children. Patricia and David then retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas, to enjoy the beautiful mountains for over 20 years. Patricia enjoyed bowling with her friends, Sandy Foltman, Faye Willer and Sheila O'Brien. She was a firm believer in the Lord and taught Sunday School and was an active member in the PTA helping children with disabilities at Haugan Elementary. She enjoyed helping others through many lodges including the Moose and American Legion. Patricia was loved by all who knew her as she welcomed all in her home and never turned away a child in need and enhanced the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. | 1163 | Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 22 January 2024 Joseph Bass Joe graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1961 and, a man of unwavering commitment, he dedicated more than 35 years of his life to Post Cereals, retiring in 1997. He lovingly served in his church community, as a Deacon, at Bethlehem Temple of Springfield, planting flowers there with his dear friend, Mrs. Jeanine McGee. Known as "Coach Bass" to the hundreds of athletes he mentored for more than 40+ years, and affectionately as "Uncle Joe" from his numerous nieces & nephews, Joe was a beacon of inspiration on and off the field. From winning his first track medal in the 75-yard dash at Ann J. Kellogg in 1955 -- where his love of sports was born -- to earning top honors in football, basketball, and track & field at Battle Creek Central, his athletic prowess was matched only by his passion for coaching & mentorship, and he would later use those same talents to coach hundreds of kids of all ages from throughout greater Battle Creek; he would continue his athletic feats at Kellogg Community College, studying political science and running cross country & track. Joe met his sweetheart & life-long friend, Ms. Gwendolyn O. Henry, in 1967; they married in 1968, and from that union, three wonderful children were born. A fervent Michigan State fan, Joe's love for sports was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for knowledge, and he often immersed himself in reading novels, newspapers, political science books & the Bible, always seeking to enrich his mind. His extensive record collection, spanning decades from the 50s to the 90s, reflected his appreciation for music that transcended generations. Joe loved toy trains, was an avid gardener, a birdwatcher and camping enthusiast, and cherished the natural beauty of places like Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island & Sleeping Bear Dunes. Joe was also a lover of movies - from Casablanca & all-things James Bond to comedy - and he could often be heard quoting movie lines to match any occasion. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bass, Sr., his mother, Bertha Bass, his brother, James Scott; the aunties and uncle who reared him: Ms. Louise Williams, Pastor Ollie M. Alfred Stretton, 66, of Royalston, Mass., was killed in a pileup on Interstate 10 at Hankamer, the DPS in Beaumont said. The wreck occurred about 300 feet from the intersection of I-10 and Texas 61, two miles south of Hankamer. DPS safety officer Jimmy Kirksey said an 18-wheel tractor trailer was parked legally on the freeway shoulder. Kirksey said that as a pickup truck and a car approached the parked vehicle, the pickup, driven by Hubert Hout of Baton Rouge, collided with the 18-wheeler. The pickup then collided with a nearby car, driven by Anthony Plummer of Baytown. Plummer?s car crossed in the freeway?s opposite lanes and collided with a fourth car driven by Stretton, Kirksey said. Stretton was taken to Chambers County Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Plummer was treated and released from that hospital for minor injuries. Davis moved to Clermont in 1958 and opened his dental practice, being one of the very first dentists in the area. He practiced out of the same dental office on Desoto Street until 1995 when he retired. He was a lifetime avid outdoorsman and was still climbing tree stands for deer hunting at the age of 82. He taught all three of his children to waterski and boat on Lake Minnehaha and enjoyed fishing the Clermont chain of lakes and off both the coastlines of Florida. He and his wife, Sheila W. Davis, enjoyed traveling in their later years and owned a second home in Franklin, NC, where they spent their summers escaping the Florida heat. Dr. Davis is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sheila W. Davis; daughters, Patti Davis Carrasquillo and Susan Davis Shelton; son, James R, Davis, IV; grandchildren, Ryan Carrasquillo and Bryce J. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for 20 years. He was stationed in Italy and Germany. It was in Bremerhaven, Germany where he met the love of his life, Ingeborg aka Inge. The two of them were married for 59 years and share two children, Lisa and Michael. After retiring from the Navy, Larry worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development as an Asset Manager and retired from civil service after 20 years. Larry and Inge were blessed with four grandchildren, Eleyna, Emilie, Erin and Evan. For the grandchildren, he will always be known as their " Opa". Dick's life was full of joy and laughter, and he had a knack for storytelling that could captivate any audience. A passionate NASCAR fan, he relished the thrills of the race and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. College football season was another highlight for him, especially when Central Michigan faced off against Western Michigan, a rivalry that sparked much friendly debate. Above all, Dick cherished the time spent with his family. He was employed for 17 years at American Plywood in New London and retired in the mid 1970's. Bill was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. His interests included fishing, playing dice and cards, especially sheepshead. Bill enjoyed polka music, visiting with his friends, and the companionship of his poodle, Fluffy. Together they had two daughters which they raised in Hamel, IL. Sharyn received a degree in education from SIU-Edwardsville in 1976. She briefly did some substitute teaching, but eventually settled on a career with the US Postal Service. She retired from the Postal Service in 2000 and enjoyed 23 years of retirement with her husband of 64 years. Sharyn enjoyed going on cruises, spending time with friends and family, going to her grandchildren's events, reading, doing puzzles/word games, and listening to music. Sharyn and Robert moved to Spring, Texas in 2013 to be closer to family. There she was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. As an infant, she and her family moved to North Hollywood, California where she grew up attending school and graduated from North Hollywood High School. Barbara was married to Howard Bass in 1939 in North Hollywood and they later followed the family to Bellingham, WA, residing there until 1974. Barbara and Howard then moved to Cheney, WA where they raised appaloosa horses until later moving to Spokane. For the past 3 years, Barbara has resided in Acme, WA. Barbara worked as a clerical worker in State Government for Labor & Industries and the Tax Commission while residing in Bellingham and for Eastern Washington University while in the Spokane area. She was a past member of the Washington State Music Association and the National Appaloosa Horse Association. Music was a big part of Barbara's life; she taught piano and organ and played at various churches for many years. Barbara enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing with her husband and family. She was a Christian women and her faith was a big part of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Strachila and her husband Robert of Acme, WA and her son, Kenneth V. Ronald was born on May 25, 1939, in Glens Falls, NY, to loving mother Hilda and Charles Ryan. Ronald's journey in life began when he worked on his father's farm as a young man in Salem, NY. In November 1957, he would marry the love of his life, Donna. Where they would spend 65 glorious years together. The two would move to Vermont to open the Arlington Dairy Bar. Their love for their community flourished as the two worked together for 34 years. His outreach to the community included regularly donating food to local organizations and school events. The dairy bar also served as a community gathering space that was held in the back room. Not only was Ronald operating the dairy bar, he also drove the local school bus, as well as selling Electrolux and Fullerbrush on the side. His love for his community showed through everything he did, especially being a long-time member and officer of the Arlington Lions Club. In 1991, ready to start a new journey, he sold the dairy bar and moved to Florida. During his time in Florida, Ronald worked part time at Publix Super Markets for 15 years. He also was a very active member of the Sons of the American Legion During his time in Florida, Ronald would make a name for himself in the sport of horseshoes. In 2004, he won the Silver Medal in the Ormond Beach Senior Games, along with the Gold Medal in the Ocala Senior Games. In 2005-2013, Ronald held the top placement in the Villages Senior Games. In 2009, he would become the Florida State Horseshoe Champion. In 2010, he competed and took the gold in the NHPA Horseshoe World Championship held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ronald is remembered by those who love him as a loving father, grandfather, kid at heart, funny, a caregiver, and always willing to help others. His love for Elvis was expressed by the occasional impersonation. His hobbies included winding down with a scary movie, playing cards, golf, bowling, shooting pool, and gaming. His love for technology broadened his horizons to all the new gadgets that came along throughout the years. After his military service, Ronnie followed the family tradition of being a watermelon farmer. Ronnie's passion for music started at an early age, and he performed in numerous bands. He played guitar in The Newberry High School String Band, who won many competitions. His first professional band, The Invaders, performed at various social events at the University of Florida. He went on to be the lead guitarist in the Denver Band, Southern Star Band, and the Jackie Branson Band. Ronnie and his wife Jackie (née Branson) performed throughout central Florida. All of Ronnie's friends and family could count on him to bring levity to any situation. He had a true gift for storytelling. Ronnie could turn the most trivial event into an epic and hilarious story. Ronnie's larger than life personality made everyone's life richer for knowing him. | 1191 | Biographical History of Grant County, Indiana Eli Moore Eli Moore was born August 22, 1847, on the farm in Wabash county, Ind., which has ever since been his home. His parents were Thomas and Mildred (Scott) Moore, deceased, former prominent residents of Liberty township, which was the scene of their activity for many years. Thomas Moore was born in North Carolina in 1800 and followed husbandry in his native state until a young man, when he came to Rush county, Ind., where he was married. In 1835 he came by ox team to Wabash county and there entered eighty acres of wild land from the government. This land is now the home of Eli Moore and the old parchment deed which is in possession of Mr. and Mrs. Moore bears date of march 20, 1837. it was customary for neighbors for miles around to help in house and barn-raising, and it was no uncommon thing for the deer to browse on the tender twigs after the trees were felled. Wolves were a menace to the farmer, causing no end of trouble, and it was a wise man who provided a pent to shelter his sheep, those not protected in this manner being carried off in large numbers by these greedy and troublesome pests. He was a man of lofty ideals and endeavored to live up to those ideals even in the most ordinary affairs of life. He was a Whig until the advent of the Republican party, when he joined forces with that body. A devout Baptist, he attended services for years at Antioch in the house of worchhip0 which his own contributions have aided in building, and from which he was buried September 15, 1861. His wife was born in 1811, in the state of Tennessee, and passed away in 1884. She was a member of the Christian church and instilled in the hears of her children the precepts of right living. She was the mother of there sons and six daughters, five of whom her. They are as follows: Nancy A., wife of Uriah Bunsworth, a mechanic of Huntington, this state; Melissa, wife of John Pearson, a farmer of Grant county; Levi, who is retired and lives in Marion; Sarah, wife of William Coomler, who resided in Jonesboro, where he is interested in life insurance and also serves as assessor of Grant county; and Eli. Eli Moore was reared and educated in Wabash county, attending the common schools and there learning the rudiments of the English language. He did not have far to go to reach the school, as the building stood on his father?s farm. At the age of thirteen death deprived him of a wise counsellor and loving father, a loss that was in part retrieved by the care and judgment of a devoted mother, with whom he lived as long as her life was spared and to whose wants it was his blessed privilege to minister. He has continued to reside on the old homestead, buying out the interest of the other heirs and has added many excellent improvements; the commodious house and barns are of his building, as are most of the improvements seen on the place. Twelve hundred rods of tile have placed it on a par with the best land in the township and he is prosperous because progressive in his methods. May 30, 1869, he was joined in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Houser, a daughter of Samuel and Catherine (Keith) Houser, and was born in Wabash county, September 17, 1849. She was one of thirteen children, five of whom are living at this time. Three of the brothers live in Topeka, Kan., where they are engaged in the mercantile business, and Nancy is the wife of George Rinker and lives in Marion. Mrs. Moore was little more than a baby when her father died, being but nine years old, and five years later the mother was also taken. Six children have been born to bless this worthy couple and five of them are living to reflect credit upon the parents who have reared them to honorable lives. Jennie is the wife of Abraham L. Garrison, of Liberty township, and the mother of two bright boys, Floyd and Cecil; Melissa married Edward Renniker, a farmer of Liberty township, and his one child, Beulah; William E. resided at home and is one of the successful and efficient teacher of this township; Charles L. has been recently graduated from the Lafontaine high school; and Riley E. from the common schools. Mr. Moore has supported the Republican ticket since casting his first vote. Arnold was a member of more than fifty years and past officer of Arlington Lodge No. 346 A.F. and A.M.; a member and Past Patron of Garnet Chapter No. 283 Order of the Eastern Star; member and past president of the Dixon Lions Club, all in Dixon; board member and past president of the Pulaski County Sheltered Workshop; was a member of the Dixon Rural Fire Protection District for fifty-three years serving as president for twenty-three years of that time; and had served on the committee to construct the new Pulaski County Courthouse. He was owner and operator, along with his wife, Donna, of the Bassett Real Estate for fifty years and Bassett Insurance for thirty-two years, both in Dixon. Arnold especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family. Those left to mourn the passing of Arnold includer: His devoted and loving wife, of over fifty-six years, Donna; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan Arnold and Sharon Kay Bassett, Ballwin; Kent Edward and Melinda ?Mindy? Visitation for Arnold will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Friday, January 15, 2021, with the funeral service following at 12:00 noon, all in the Kenner Church of God, 17996 Maries Road 505, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating. | 1196 | Bishop Joseph Bass September 30th, 1904 ? July 24th 1997 Bishop Joseph Edison Bass, 92, of Monessen, died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at home. Born Sept. 30, 1904, in Starr Place, Ga., he was the son of the late William and Lettie Bass. Bishop Bass had been pastor of Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ Inc., Monessen for 56 years. A veteran,he was a member of the United States Calvary,Buffalo Soldier,which was an all-Black regime. Bishop Bass also served as assistant pastor of Morningside Church of God in Christ for seven years prior to arriving in Monessen. Under Bishop Bass'leadership, the church membership increased and eventually the current house of worship was constructed. He received several commendations from former President George Bush and former governor Robert P.Casey. He also conducted a radio ministry, The Light of the World Hour for 12 years. He has held numerous offices in the church, including chairman of the Ordination Board, district superintendent of the Uniontown District (which includes four churches), and chairman of the Elders Council of the Western Pennsylvania Jurisdiction. He retired in 1965 from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Velma Watts Bass, a son, Lloyd Dwight Bass, and a brother, Arthur E.Bass. Surviving are four daughters, Wilma J.Keys, Izetta E.Bass, Ruth A.Bass and Doris P.Bass-Wade, all of Monessen, five sons, Joseph E. Bass of Altoona, J. Richard Bass and William C., Both of Monessen, Edwin C.Bass of St.Louis, Mo., and Wayne M. Bass of Ansonia, Conn., 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 9 p.m. in Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ Church, 644 Reed Ave., Monessen. A special memorial program will be conducted at the church Monday at 7 p.m. and funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Elder William C.Bass, assistant pastor, and Bishop J.E.Bass Jr., sons of Bishop Bass, officiating.
