Patty leaves behind her husband, of 36 years, William O'Neill, Jr., stepson William O'Neill III and wife Jennifer, their children Jared and Logan, and her stepdaughter Carolyn O'Neill Bellody and husband Tom, their children Liliana, Jeffrey, Leah, and Kayla. Patty also leaves behind, but with so much love, her sister Margaret Roux and her husband Dennis, sister Nanette Bassett and her wife Leanne Gill and her brother William Bassett and wife Laurie. She also leaves her niece Emily Roux and her partner Eric Torres, great niece Bailey and great nephews Dominic and Matthew. Patty is predeceased by her loving parents, Henry and Lorraine (Dufresne) Bassett, her uncle Richard Dufresne and nephews Matthew and Glenn. Patty graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield Vermont and was a proud member of the class of 1968. She served her country by being a fingerprint reader for the FBI in Washington DC in the 60's and was a graduate of Dartmouth Vocational College. For over 40 years she worked as a medical assistant in Connecticut's Farmington Valley area where she was admired and loved by co-workers and patients, many of whom are close to this day. A graveside burial service will be held at St. Mary's cemetery in Springfield, VT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Farmington Valley VNA Hospice, 80 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury CT 06070 or to the East Granby Public Library, 24 Center Street, East Granby, CT 06026. She was a lover of animals and donations may also be made to a No Kill Animal Shelter of your choice. | 1702 | Hartford Courant, Connecticut, November 6, 2022 Patricia Bassett Patricia "Pat" (Lamoureux) Bassett, 81, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Peter Kellogg Bassett, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born on May 18, 1941, in Hartford, one of 6 children of the late Eugene and Anne Marie (Eisele) Lamoureux. She was raised in New Britain, CT, attended and was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Pat earned her nursing degree from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. Pat was a registered nurse and was employed by the State of Connecticut, working at the Mansfield Training School for 25 years. She was raised with a strong faith and shared that with others. Pat volunteered for several charitable organizations and was very involved in the communities she was a part of throughout her life. She was an avid card and board game enthusiast and enjoyed family adventures with her children and grandchildren. Pat along with Peter were lovers of travel and adventures. Pat is survived by her three daughters Susan Bassett-Wooley of Coventry, Barbara Foreman and her husband Phil of Vernon and Elizabeth Hanville and her husband Richard of Cornelius, NC. Her eight cherished grandchildren Sydney Wooley, Samantha Foreman and her fiancé Steve Capobianco, Joseph Wooley, Andrew Foremen, Jonathan Hanville, Sabrina Hanville, Sierra Wooley and J.P. Hanville, her four siblings Eugene Lamoureux, Sr Anne Marie Lamoureux, Cathy O'Day and Maryellen Wezowicz and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, Pat was predeceased by loved family and friends. Ms. Bass was born June 7, 1974 in McComb, MS to Marty Bass and Glenda Frye. Ms. Bass was an Honor graduate from McComb High School class of 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church in McComb. Jenni loved to go hunting with her daddy and loved fishing. She also loved listing to music. Jenni was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Ms. Bass was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Glenn and Connie Frye; her paternal grandmother, Mary Louise Bass; one cousin, Andy Milton. Bass Cale Bass, 53, of Concord, went to his heavenly home with Jesus on Sunday, April 16, 2023, after several years of declining health. He is whole and healthy again and celebrating being reunited with his father who passed away just a few short months ago, on December 30, 2022. Cale was the dearly loved son of Steve and Gail Bass. He was born November 11, 1969 in Atlanta, GA. Cale was named after NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough. Gail was pregnant in 1969 when she and Steve attended the race in Atlanta and met up with Cale Yarborough there. Yarborough and Steve made a bet that if Yarborough won the race that day and Gail gave birth to a boy, that they would name the baby "Cale." As fate would have it, Gail gave birth to a baby boy, and they named him Cale in honor of Yarborough's win. Cale was preceded in death by his father, Steve Bass; maternal grandparents, Garland Brock and Haddie Brock; and paternal grandparents, Wilbert Bass and Elizabeth Bass. Cale is survived by his mother, Gail Bass; and siblings, Donna Bass Phillips (Jamey), Erica Bass Christopher (Brad), Jamie Bass, Angel Bass, Amanda Bass Davidson (Collin), Todd Bass, and Tommy Bass; nieces and nephews, Jake Phillips (Rikki), Hunter Phillips, Alyssa Christopher, Zoe Antonescu, Annabel Bass, and Syrenn Bass. Cale graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1988. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the Air Force, Cale began working in NASCAR. He worked for multiple race teams as an engine tuner and tire carrier. After leaving NASCAR, Cale began working for Bank of America in Charlotte. Cale was a staunch defender and protector of animals and loved his rescue dogs, cats, and horses as if they were children. He was a gentle giant whose love and compassion for animals was known by all who knew him. From the time he was a small child, he began taking in all kinds of animals from a wounded hawk and an abandoned baby squirrel to guinea pigs, stray dogs and cats, etc. Cale had a heart of gold and a beautiful smile and laugh that will not be forgotten. Cale's Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm. Concord ? 3 January 2023 Stephen Wallace Bass Stephen Wallace Bass, 77, of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022 surrounded by his family. Steve was born December 19, 1945, in Washington, DC, and was lovingly raised in Kenly, NC, by his parents, Wilbert William Bass and Elizabeth Tyndall Culbreth Bass. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Culbreth Edgerton and Gail Marie Bass Faucette. In 1964, Steve met his soulmate, Janice Gail Brock, while attending Mount Olive Junior College. They were married on June 25, 1965, at the bride's home in Mount Olive. Steve and Gail became foster parents in 1981 and fostered 62 children over the course of 20 years. During this time, they opened their hearts and home as their family of four grew into ten. Steve loved worked in the trucking industry until his retirement in 2014 from ABF Freight in Charlotte. Steve and Gail spent many weekends camping in Holly Bluff Campground, Asheboro. Gospel music spoke to his heart. Steve enjoyed attending gospel music concerts with friends and family. He also loved sports, especially baseball (Go Braves!). He was also a lifelong racing fan and loved NASCAR. Steve dreamed of restoring his 1968 yellow Ford Torino and making it a show car. He cherished time spent with his children tinkering on his car. Steve had a servant's heart and was passionate about giving back to his community. For approximately ten years, in the '80s, Steve served as a volunteer fireman for the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed the brotherhood of his fellow firefighters. In the early '90s, Steve became involved with Special Olympics. He was inspired by the athletes he met and decided to take classes and obtain his certification to coach. He coached soccer, basketball, and track-and-field. Steve was a former member of Kingsway Baptist Church, where he and Gail started the first NC Friendship Class, a Bible-based ministry for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities. They felt led to share the love of Christ with the very special and loving friends they had made through Special Olympics. Steve was very patriotic and always loved the military, but he never had the opportunity to serve. He joined the USO at Charlotte-Douglas Airport and would work every Saturday morning serving those who serve us. He enjoyed spending time with soldiers and their families and considered it a great honor to do so. The greatest love in Steve's life was God. His next great love was his wife of 57 years, his "angel," Gail. They had a once-in-a-lifetime love that everyone seeks. One of Steve's greatest accomplishments was being a daddy to eight wonderful children, whom he cherished: Donna Bass Phillips (Jamey), William "Cale" Bass, Erica Bass Christopher (Brad), James "Jamie" Stephen Bass, Angela "Angel" Susan Bass, Amanda Bass Davidson (Colin), William "Todd" Bass, and Elliott Thomas "Tommy" Bass. Steve was also blessed with six grandchildren, Jacob Phillips (Rikki), Hunter Phillips, Alyssa Christopher, Zoe Antonescu, Annabel Bass, and Syrenn Bass. Steve's Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm. | 1707 | Harvard Press, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 Gail J. Bessette Gail J. (Martinson) Bessette of Townsend died August 10, 2014, after a year-long battle with brain cancer. Gail grew up in Westford and graduated from Nashoba Valley Technical High School with a certificate in graphic design. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and music. Gail married Leo Bessette in 1992. They lived in Townsend and were married 20 years before Leo?s death two years ago. Gail will always be remembered as a gentle, peaceful person who loved her children, animals, and the great outdoors. She loved walking her dogs, kayaking, snowshoeing, and spending weekends at their camp in Vermont. Dearly loved by her family and friends, Gail was always ready to spend time talking, hiking, or visiting flea markets. She would take any opportunity to be outside, surrounded by nature. Gail was a loving and dedicated mother to her children, Luke and Samantha, the latter a 2014 Bromfield graduate. In addition to her children, Gail is survived by her mother, Peggy, and brother, Karl. Sunday, April 22nd, 2023 Dolores Linda Edwards Bass, 87, of Swannanoa passed away April 22, 2023 at Rose Hill Retirement Community. Dolores was born November 11, 1935 to the late Mary Eloise Bright Edwards and Hugh McClellan ?Rebo? Edwards. She was a 1953 graduate of Lee Edwards High School and also attended St. Genevieve Secretarial School. Growing up in downtown Asheville, in what is now the historic Montford district, Dolores enjoyed spending afternoons at her aunt and mother?s hair salon, Vanity Fair Salon of Beauty, going to the movies and soda shop, and many summer trips to Virginia Beach with family. She spent her early years working as a secretary in the textile industry for Beacon Manufacturing Company, Northrup, Chemtronics, Wamsutta, Winston Mills, and continued on as an emergency room patient registration clerk at Mission Hospital. She finished her working years with the payroll department of Asheville Anesthesia Associates where she retired at the age of 70 in September of 2006. Dolores thoroughly enjoyed cooking, reading, completing crossword puzzles, watching NFL and Carolina basketball, and Jeopardy, in which she would win against any who challenged her. She loved attending the Women?s Bible Study at The Cove and she had a passion for stray animals, which included many furry kittens joining her homestead. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren, whom she loved immensely. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Sidney Earl Bass; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marilyn Edwards; and grandparents, James Oliver Bright and Margaret Elizabeth McLean Bright. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Margaret Elizabeth Bass den Heijer (Charles), Joseph Sidney Bass (Sonya), and Mary Josephine Bass Adams (Sheldon); grandchildren, Joseph Stephen Bass, Johnathan Noah Bass, Sydney Briann Adams Ford (Caleb), and Lucas Marc Adams; great granddaughter, Annabelle Rae Bass; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Rita Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. | 1709 | Haskell Funeral Home ? Lovell ? 28 February 2024 Jeffery Stringham Bassett Jeffery Stringham Bassett died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at his home in Lovell. He was born to Joe and Iris Bassett on January 25, 1961, in Lovell, the fifth child and fourth son. He would later be joined by his younger sister Jackie. Being the youngest, the two were close and have remained so. Jeff was the first boy born in Lovell in 1961, so he received a basket full of goodies. Jeff spent the first year of his life in Kane. When he was 1 year old his family moved to Road 15 in Lovell, where his mother lives today. Jeff was a busy boy. He spent a lot of time with Brad Tippetts. The two of them could get in more trouble than the law would allow. One night when spending the night at Brad's, the two had a shotgun. The gun went off and shot a hole in the floor. No one was hurt, but they damaged the floor. Being resourceful the boys fixed the hole. Wilford and Marilyn, Brad's parents, only found out when they moved. Jeff grew up on the farm and enjoyed tractor work. He also learned to work cattle from his dad. He always talked about being a roper at rodeos, practicing constantly with bales of hay with horns. A lesson he learned from his dad and passed on to his sons was, "Never run your horse, or you will be walking." When he was 7, he was working with his dad burning weeds when the propane tank exploded, leaving Jeff severely burned. These burns would be with him for 57 years, ultimately causing him much pain and illness. He graduated from Lovell High School in 1979 and went to Ricks College the fall of 1981 for a year. He then returned to work on the family farm. In the summer of 1986, he began dating JodyLynne Woody. The two were married in 1987. They recently celebrated 36 years of marriage last November. To this marriage four boys were born, Jacob, Jackson, Jesse and Joey. These boys were Jeff's pride and joy. The family spent many weekends camping, hunting and fishing. He used to say he spent more time untangling lines than fishing. Jeff's lifestyle was farming. He instilled hard work in his boys. Many of life's lessons were taught on ditch banks. His boys were all athletic. He spent many Saturdays watching wrestling. After a match the boys would visit with their dad on what they did to win a match or what they should have done. He was so proud of all their accomplishments. All four boys were State placers. Not too many dads could say that. He was supportive of his wife and boys in all that they did. His handsome and successful boys are all married. Jeff finally got daughters. He graciously received them into his life and home. Having daughters meant having grandchildren. He used to say, "I always thought my boys were smart until I had grandchildren. They are geniuses." Jeff was on the Sunlight Drain board and worked to help his neighbors. He was a shareholder in the Western Sugar Cooperative. He was awarded Cooperative of the Year for the Shoshone Conservation District. Jeff and JodyLynne loved to travel. The places they have been and the friends they have made along the way will always be special. They were best friends and did everything together. Jeff will be missed by many, especially by his boys and wife. Jeff was preceded in death by his dad, Joe Bassett, and nephew Jeremy Croft. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, JodyLynne; four boys, Jacob (Tosha), Jackson (Lara), Jesse (Kat) and Joey (Tori); grandchildren Khloe, Kannon, Louanna, Twyla, Baron and Samson, with a tie breaker due in May; mother Iris Bassett; brothers Rusty (Sonja), Jodee (Donna) and Matt (Tracy) Bassett; sisters Jennifer Cerroni and Jackie (H.K.) Click; brothers-in-law Johnny (Gina) Woody, Jimmy Woody, Brad (Chris) Kuntz and Erik (Mindy) Kuntz; sisters-in-law Tanya (Doug) Kluge and Teri (Joe) Serger; fathers-in-law Troy (Tina) Woody and Jon (Judy) Martin; mother-in-law Linda Martin (Steve Ramsey); and many nieces and nephews. Bass Jr., 87 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn, WI surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 14, 1933 in Johnstown, WI, the son of the late Edward G. and Alma M. (Waltman) Bass Sr. Ed graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1951. On July 18, 1959, he was united in marriage to Marion L. Bleser at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, WI. Marion died February 10, 2021 after 61 years of marriage. Ed proudly served in the US Army, including a deployment to Korea. He worked for over 36 years as a crane operator for Magill and Welkos Construction Company of Elkhorn. Ed was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local # 139 and a member of the Elkhorn American Legion Post # 45. Ed enjoyed working around the house that he built for his family. He could fix just about anything and believed in ?measure twice, cut once.? He also enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, and eating Neapolitan ice cream. In his later years, nothing made him happier than being with and talking about his grandchildren and his great-grandpup Duncan ?Donut Hole?. Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his two daughters: Ann (Jon) Schleusner of Burlington, WI and Cathy (Nicole Peters) Bass of Blair, WI, his two grandchildren: Elena (Jake) Gildemeister and Dayne Schleusner, sister Shirley (Robert) Riese, brother-in-law Frank (Gloria) Bleser, two sisters-in-law: Yvonne Bleser and Louise Bleser, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Graniteville, 10 March 2025 Della Foster Bass Mrs. Della Foster Bass, 85, beloved wife of Mr. Richard Dale Bass, Sr., entered into rest on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Walton and Jennie Mae Thompson Foster, and her brother and sisters, Johnny Foster, Barbara West, Joyce Grice, and Martha Murray. The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1 o'clock at Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 o'clock with Pastor David Gallimore officiating. Mrs. Bass was born in Burnettown, SC. She was a longtime member of Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene and she and Richard cared for the Campgrounds and the church campus. She worked briefly for Friedmans Jewelers in Augusta GA, and then for Pollock Office Supply. She was the third of seven cherished children and had a wonderful family. Her father was a barber, and her mother was a loving homemaker. Berta passed away and went on to be with the Lord on February 8, 2022. Berta graduated from high school in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C and went on to work for the FBI during World War II. After completing a year of FBI duties, she moved back to Arkansas and married the love of her life, Nigel ?Morris? Bass. They had a son, Leslie Dale Bass, who was a Navy veteran and proceeded her in death. She and Morris were married until his passing in 1993. Berta worked for Rhema Bible church and was Hagin?s transcriber for over 40 years. She enjoyed watching television, playing computer games and working in her yard. She even mowed her own large once acre property until she was 92 years old. Berta was strong willed, small but mighty. | 1720 | Helena Independent Record, August 20, 2006 Norma L. Heiman (Picture included) Norma L. Heiman, 88, of Helena, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at the Waterford on Saddle Drive. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Episcopal Cathedral. Norma was born Aug. 3, 1919, on a hot day in Hinsdale to a homestead family. Norma graduated from high school in Glasgow and graduated from Northern Montana College at Havre, a two-year school at that time. She then went to Opheim, north of Glasgow to teach at a country school, at $85 a month. The class had about 10 students, all Norwegian - Norma was Swedish. The next year she taught at Box Elder. It was World War II, and she heard about the Women's Army Corps, and joined to get away from teaching in Montana. Stationed as a lieutenant in Army intelligence near Washington D.C., she met and married a fine young captain, Lee Heiman. After the war, they lived for a short time in Chicago and then came to Montana to attend college. Then while Norma had babies to care for, Lee was called back into the Army for the Korean War. After the Korean War, they spent some time in the Philippines. When they came home again, they moved to California. On a visit to Montana they stayed overnight in Brigham City, Utah, and Lee saw an opportunity with building rockets in the new space program and got a job there. Norma took a job teaching Navajo Indians at a boarding school in Brigham City and with the BIA on the reservation. She continued college during summers, getting her master's degree in education, which led to a grant from Utah State University and to a doctorate in education, producing books for Navajo children. She retired from the BIA and was employed as a consultant in school accreditation on Indian reservations, getting 12 schools accredited before retiring in 1987. Norma and Lee lived in Billings until he died in 1992, and she moved to Helena to be close to her son and family. She is survived by four children, Lee Heiman, Jr. of Helena, Cathy Jones of Akron, Ohio, Meg Neihaus, of Conway, Ark., and Paul Heiman of Moorcroft, Wyo.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. David also loved Elvis and birds. However, his biggest love was the beach; and Laguna Beach was his favorite. He had two houses there and would drive straight down to spend a weekend at his favorite spot. Above all, David loved the Lord. He was a very hard worker, an honest man, and you would never hear a bad word come from his mouth. He remained stoic through his battle enduring pain for almost 2 years. The 16-year-old Decatur boy shot dead in what appears to be an accident was identified Monday as Treymayne Bass. A news release from Macon County Coroner Michael E. Day said Bass was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Decatur Memorial Hospital at 3:20 a.m. Saturday. "The preliminary post mortem findings indicate the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest," said Day. Decatur police said the shooting happened at a home in the 600 block of West William Street and Jayden M. Michniewicz, 18, has been booked on a preliminary charge of involuntary manslaughter. "...The 16-year-old victim was visiting Michniewicz's residence when a firearm was being handled," the police said in a statement. "During the transfer of the firearm it discharged, striking the victim. The Decatur Police Department continues to thoroughly investigate this tragic incident to include following up on leads as to how this firearm was obtained." November 15, 2025 Franklin Jerry Bass, 81, passed away at his home in the Wade Community on November 15, 2025 and went to be with his Heavenly Father. Frank was born in Andalusia, Alabama on August 01, 1944. He graduated from Pleasant Home High School in Andalusia, AL and George Wallace Technical College in Dothan, Alabama. He worked for Page Aircraft in Ft. Rucker, Alabama before joining the work force at Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1971 where he was an Electrician Specialist in Test for 33 years. During this time, he served for ten years as President of the IBEW. Frank was a member of Wade Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and on various committees. He was a Master Mason and past Master of Pascagoula Lodge Number 202. Frank enjoyed gardening, tree grafting, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed sharing his vegetables and various fruits with his family and friends. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, J. | 1730 | Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Deacon Lawrence James Bassett 1944 ? 2015 Lawrence James Bassett, age 70, went to meet his heavenly Father on February 14, 2015. Lawrence was born in Bryan, Texas on July 31, 1944 to Lawrence Bassett and Neomiah Thornton-Bassett in Bryan, Texas. Lawrence and his mother moved to Corpus Christi in 1952 and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized by Rev. O.L. Terrell in the Nueces River. He served as the Youth Director and sang in the Youth Choir and with a quartet. He also sang in the choir at Roy Miller H.S. He had a beautiful voice. Lawrence graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1964. He then joined the National Guard and served his Country for six years. He was also the first African-American employee at Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Corpus Christi. Lawrence met Ada Louise Green in high school, and married his high school sweetheart on March 16, 1965. To this union two daughters were born, April D. Bassett and Pamela A. Bassett. Lawrence enjoyed serving God and he loved Bible Study. He first became a deacon at True Faith Baptist Church under Rev. Terry, and later at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under Rev. Harry Williams. He was also a deacon at St. John Baptist Church under Pastor Derrick E. Reaves. He was employed at ASARCO refinery for 18 years. He later obtained certification for heating and air conditioning from Del Mar College and was employed as the maintenance supervisor for La Quinta Hotel. Shortly thereafter, Lawrence hired on with Sherwin Alumina Company, formerly Reynolds Metals Company ?Sherwin Plant. He retired from Reynolds in 2013 after 24 years of service. He then pursued a career in security and was a commissioned security officer until his passing. Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Bassett; mother Neomiah Turner; one uncle, and seven aunts. Lawrence leaves to carry on his memory a loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Ada Bassett; two daughters, April D. Bassett of Corpus Christi, Tx., and Pamela A. January 24, 2023 Rocklin, California Jackqualyn Rae Hoffman Bassett arrived on January 26, 1947, on Sunday in Yankton, South Dakota, to parents Robert Stofer Hoffman, and Arlean Bernice Vilhauer. Her birthday would have marked 76 years of life. She passed through the veil on January 24, 2023 at her Rocklin CA. home. She was a wonderful daughter of God, a beloved sweetheart, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. As an only child she spent her early years in South Dakota until her parents moved to California, living in Bellflower and La Mirada. In 1965 she was in the first graduating class of La Mirada High School. The talented musician played many interments, was in several school bands, and nicknamed ?Tink? because she played the glockenspiel in the marching band, Disney?s Tinker Bell was her logo of choice. While in high school she joined the Rainbow Girls, a group for young women. In her senior year of high school she met Ron Bassett, her future husband, a member of the Order of DeMolay, and they began dating. He escorted Jackie to her Senior Prom. Ron, better known as ?Smokey?, joined the Air Force in 1965. His first assignment was to a radar squadron on Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, CA, and so there were long drives for short dates with his sweetheart. Jackie and Smokey were married in 1966 at Norwalk, CA. They lived in San Rafael, son William, was born at the nearby Hamilton AFB. In 1968 orders were received to West Germany, the family was soon on their way and they lived in a German village. In October 1968 baby Richard joined them and in February 1970 the cute little daughter Kristina arrived. Both were born at the Wiesbaden military hospital. Each May for the next 4 years her husband made military moves. First to Minnesota, then to Alaska, back to California and to Alaska again before 3 years at McClellan AFB. Again Jackie took the lead purchasing a home in Rancho Cordova with a short walk to the kid?s school and church. On July 9, 1977, the family were sealed together for all time and eternity in the Oakland Temple. They returned to West Germany and lived in a military housing area near the city of Kaiserslautern. Here they stayed for 6 years and had many adventures visiting much of Western Europe. Jackie worked at the base hobby shop and took advanced art lessons from the University of Wiesbaden professor of art. Various art works hang in their home as testimony of her artistic talent. Her loving nature and leadership skills helped as she served as the Relief Society President of the largest overseas military LDS Ward, where she was able to share her love and talents. By August 1985 the family had grown up, William graduated from high school, and the family was headed to Andrews Air Force Base near Washington D.C., where Jackie worked at the base hospital and served as a seminary teacher. William was called to serve a mission in Hong Kong, Richard graduated from high school and left for his mission in Oregon, and in the Spring of 1988, after Kris graduated, the family retired after 23 years active duty, and Jackie, Smokey, Kris and Sammy (their dog) headed west, returning to their Rancho Cordova home. In 1989 they moved into the Rocklin house that has been their home for 34 years and became home-base as their sons? married and families grew. Grandkids can tell stories of many family gatherings, wild Christmas? morning gift openings, Easter egg hunts, birthdays and Thanksgiving feasts. Jackie worked at Mather AFB, then at McClellan, where Smokey was the Chief of Community Relations and Jackie accompanied him to community events. In 2001, McClellan closed and Jackie worked for a time at Beale AFB, then with the federal Department of Reclamation. While there she was sent to New Orleans to supervise clean-up efforts following Hurricane Katrina, a month-long task that tested her leadership abilities and work ethic. In 2009 Jackie also retired with 23 years of federal service. Jackie loved to travel, experiencing new places and adventures! She has been to 26 countries, walked where the Savior had walked in Israel, snorkeled in the Caribbean, ate onion soup at a street café in Paris, been on the Great Wall of China and visited the new Rome Temple. Perhaps her longest, but quiet efforts to serve, was for 12 years she sewed baby blankets for the Sutter Medical Center?s NitCu ward. She made 10 blankets every month! As each small blanket was completed she would give it a mother?s hug. Jackie?s greatest joy was her family which grew to 11 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several spouses. Her three children achieved college degrees, as did two grandchildren, and there have been seven missions served. Although mostly bed ridden for the past year, in May she went to Utah to attend a grandson?s wedding to a young lady that Jackie quickly loved as much as the rest of her kids. Then in August she joined 20 members of her family for an Alaskan cruise. Each day she got on an electric scooter and joined her ?kids? for various activities. She had so much fun zipping around the ship and being an active part of her family?s adventure, it really energized her! In November they marked their 56th wedding anniversary, and later were surprised when several grandkids arrived from Utah. One of the granddaughters had made a quilt from material sent from the other grandkids and they presented it to their Grandmother! Making the gathering even more precious was Jackie being able to hold her 3-month old great-grandson, named Jackson after her. The joy on her face was so beautiful as her ?kids? gathered around the bed as she met this newest family member. On Tuesday morning, January 24, while asleep in her hospital bed in the front room, once the site of so many celebrations, she quietly completed her earthly mission. Two days later, on the 26th, she may have celebrated her 76th birthday with many departed family members that were waiting for her to arrive, many of whom she had completed temple work for over the years. What a life story this great woman had, what a living testimony she was for many who are here today. He had spent several years as a farmer and also had been in the mercantile business, which he knew from the viewpoints of both owner and clerk; as applied to both groceries and clothing. Mr. Bassett had lived at Popular Grove and Union City, before coming to Hickman but wherever he lived he always identified himself with the better citizens of the community. He was especially faithful to the Baptist Church, of which he had been a life long member, having served as Sunday School Superintendent at both Poplar Grove and Hickman. He had also served as teacher of the Men's Bible Class at First Baptist Church for a number of years. He was a devoted husband and a kind and generous father to six orphans whom he and Mrs. Bassett helped rear. Mr. Bassett was a likable neighbor and friend.... James Bass Jr., 75, of Sherrills Ford, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford. He was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Catawba County, to the late Willie James Bass Sr. and Nannie Lee Stevens Bass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Kay Jarman, Myrta Sherrill, Revonda Hallman, and Iva Perkins. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Frances Huffman Bass of the home; son, Dr. Tracy James Bass of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer Bass Elrod and husband, Phil of Newton; sisters, Patsy Carriker of Monroe and Jean Heafner of Midland; and grandchildren, Arabella Marie Elrod, Joseph "Phillip" Elrod III, and Alexis Victoria Elrod. Willie was retired from the furniture industry, where he spent many years at Pem-Kay furniture and eventually was a co-owner of CBS Furniture. He was a graduate of Bandys High School in 1964, and also attended CVCC's furniture program. In 1972, he joined the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire Department. He later became an EMT in 1978, and was instrumental in the creation of the Sherrills Ford Rescue Squad, which was chartered in 1986. During his time in fire and rescue service, he served as chief of the fire department for 15 years and led the merger of the fire and rescue squads in 1999, to create what we know today as the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue. Willie formerly served as president of the Catawba County Firefighters Association and was an instructor of firefighter level I and II classes at Gaston College and CVCC. After retiring from fire and rescue services in 2001, the department dedicated their headquarters building in his name when it opened in 2006. Willie was a humble man whose accomplishments were always for the betterment of his community, of which he lived his entire life and loved so much. He lived life by his motto of, "Making a difference today is making for a better tomorrow." Dr. Robert Edwin Bass, affectionately known as Bob by family and friends passed away peacefully with his family on Friday, May 17, 2024 at River Landing, Colfax, North Carolina. He was born March 19, l933 in Roxboro, North Carolina, son of the late James Alexander Bass and Josephine Holeman Bass. During his youthful years, he attended school in Virginia and was excited to be a year ahead when he returned to North Carolina. He graduated from Roxboro High School where he played football and struggled in his Latin classes. He graduated from N.C. State University in Raleigh, NC. and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a stateside courier. After discharge, he attended UNC Adams School of Dentistry graduating in 1967. He was in private practice for over 35 years in High Point and Denton, N.C. After retirement from private practice, he served on the dental staff at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Center in Winston Salem for 7 years. As an active member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, he enjoyed serving as a Sunday morning Greeter, a member of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class, he greatly valued his involvement with the Fish Unity Group, and introducing and maintaining the church vegetable gardens that contributed to the local charities. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity building houses and with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of High Point Country Club and The String and Splinter Club for many years. Bob loved fly fishing, a skill he acquired at a young age, and spent countless hours trying to catch "Moby Dick." Reading was a constant source of education and relaxation. He was avid lover of classical music. Wood carving was a life-long passion, with birds being his specialty. He enjoyed playing golf with friends until the onset of Parkinsons limited his physical abilities. In his later years, gardening became a highlight. Bob's loyalty to his family, his patients, and his friends made it clear to all who had the joy of knowing him that he was a man who had long ago achieved inner peace. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and faithful friend. On Saturday morning, March 19, 2022, Thomas Adrian Bass moved from his temporary address to his permanent and eternal residence. Adrian, as he was affectionately known, was born Dec. 18, 1957, to Reverend Fredrick O. Bass Sr. and Marian Holmes Bass. Adrian attended the public schools of High Point, graduating from T. Wingate Andrews High School, Class of 1976. He was a defensive back for the Red Raider football team and was captain his senior year. He was also a member of the wresting team. After high school, Adrian enrolled at Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. Moving to Atlanta, he joined Antioch Baptist Church North. At his death, he was an active and faithful member of Christ the King Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories his brother, Reverend Fredrick O. Bass Jr; aunts, Mrs. Joyce H. Raye, Kinston, NC, and Mrs. Melba McCannon, Hyattsville, MD; and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and classmates, along with the Christ the King Baptist Church Family. | 1740 | Highland News-Sun, Sebring, Florida, Friday, 2 May 2025 Danny Bass Danny Bass was born March 15, 1980, in Avon Park, Florida, and was a lifelong resident of Lake Placid, Florida. On April 29, 2025, Danny passed away surrounded by his loving family. After complications at birth, Danny was given only a few short months to live. God had other plans, and Danny was given 45 years to share his love, spirit, and wonderful personality with countless individuals. In addition to deeply loving those around him, Danny loved country music, especially Dolly Parton, watching classic game shows, reruns of Hee Haw, and old comedy shows. Danny was a founding member of Miracle League Baseball, and also loved bowling, bingo and visiting with friends. He enjoyed attending community events and looked forward to seeing people he knew with great anticipation. His love for his family was deep and in spite of his own personal struggles with health, he always cared most for those around him. In high school, Danny was a member of SGA, Interact, and was also involved with Special Olympics and Special Stars. Though many individuals worked with Danny over the years to help and support him, in truth, it was Danny that made everyone better for knowing him. His heart was as big as his personality. Danny loved and was loved, and will be missed immensely. Having fought the good fight for many years, on April 29 it was time for this brave man to rest, and Heaven gained a faithful and courageous soul. Danny was preceded in death by his daddy Raymond Bass Sr., Grandma and Granddaddy Lilian and Irving Hartsfield, his papa Dean Hickey, and his cousin Josh. Angie found delight in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed trips to the casino, where the thrill mingled with camaraderie and fun, and she was a huge wrestling fan, passionately captivated by the drama and athleticism that the sport displayed. Helen also enjoyed cooking for her family and sports. She loved her life living in Littlefield. Helen was a friend to everyone. Helen worked at First National Bank and then moved to First Federal Savings and Loan. She retired from a Vice President position in 2006 at the age of 73. Donald Eugene Bass was born January 10, 1947 in Alma, MI the son of Donald and Frances (Gilles) Bass. In 1965, he graduated from high school in Merrill, MI. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a jet fighter aircraft mechanic on the F-4 Phantom. During his time in service, Donald met Emily J. Hamilton and they married on December 12, 1969. Recently, they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Following his honorable discharged from military service, Donald and Emily moved to Midland, MI, where he began his carrier as a 4 color printing press operator at McKay?s Printing. Later, he attended a truck driving school in Fargo, ND and was employed with Altendorf Trucking in Minto, ND, until retiring in 2015. He is survived by his wife, Emily; his sons, Davis (Shelly) Hamilton, East Grand Forks, MN and Dean Bass, Grand Forks, ND; a daughter, Alicia (Matt) Bullinger, Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Lyvere, Midland, MI and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Schuyler County, August 13, 1858, being a son of John and Elia (Tarr) Wellman. He was married August 31, 1884, to Mary E. Bass, daughter of Wright and Elizabeth (Hughes) Bass. She was born January 1, 1863, and died February 14, 1904. They had nine children, eight of whom are living: Clarence, Ethel, Minnie M., Elsa L., Harley G., Homer, Vernon, John. Mr. Wellman remained at home with his parents till his marriage, then began farming for himself. He moved to Adair County shortly before his marriage, where he continued farming til 1903. He then moved to Connelsville, and went into the livery business in which he is still engaged, being in partnership with his brothers, N.B. Wellman. David received a good practical education in youth, having sttended the high school at Port Byron, N.Y., and the Aurora Academy. At the age of fourteen he began to learn the shoe maker?s trade of his father. In December, 1851, he left his native State, and the following June, located at Petersburg where he has since resided and followed his trade the greater part of the time. In 1866, he went was appointed deputy county surveyor, and was afterward twice elected to the office of surveyor of Pike County. He still continues to do considerable surveying. he is the owner of 150 acres of land in Jefferson Township which he bought in 1869>Mr. Horton has been three times married. In February, 1854, he married Mary Bass who died eighteen months later, and in 1860 he was united in marriage with Katharine Bass, a sister of his first wife. She died in March, 1864. He chose for his third wife Elvina Scott whom he married in November, 1871. | 1750 | History of Siskiyou County, California Illustrated with Views of Residences D.J. Stewart & Co., Oakland, Cal 1881 William H. Sharp Includes portraits for both William and Augusta Now of Scott valley, was born in the Mohawk valley, New York, September 14, 1825, and at the age of two and one-half years his parents moved to St. Lawrence county, New York, and settled in Ogdensburg. William H., was the eighth of a family of nine children, seven of whom are still living. He was the son of Jacob and Sarah (Ranney) Sharp, his mother being a sister of General Ranney. William grew up in Ogdensburg, working at various trades, being ready, as he says, to do anything honorable for a livelihood. In 1846 he left the parental roof and went to Bellevue, Huron county, Ohio, and engaged in agricultural pursuits. In one year he married Miss Augusta Bassett, daughter of Doris Bassett, a native of New York. In 1849, hearing of the rich gold discoveries in California, he was thereby induced to dispose of his property, leave his family with friends and start via the emigrant trail of that day, for the coast, in company with nineteen others. They left Ohio in march and arrived at Hangtown (Placerville) in November. Here Mr. Sharp mined four weeks with his friends, then went to Sacramento and from there to Mariposa county. While returning some time after from a mining excursion to the Four Creek country, one of the party was killed by a bear. After settling in Mariposa again, Mr. Sharp engaged in teaming from Stockton. He ran six teams of from six to eight animals each, and followed this business till the fall of 1851, when he opened a corral. In the fall of ?51 he sold the corral and returned to the States for his wife and child, by the water route. Remaining one year in Ohio and not being content, he returned to California in 1853, across the plains with ox-teams. Upon his arrival he stopped at Feather river and at Stockton, where he engaged in farming one season. Not being satisfied with the San Joaquin valley, he saddled a mule and started a search of a better. Finding what he wanted in Siskiyou county he returned for his family, and came with them across the Scott mountains. He experienced the hardest trip he had ever made, and landed in Scott valley on Christmas morning of 1854. He brought with him chickens, pigs, and the first turkeys in the valley, for which last he was offered as high as fifty dollars per pair. He went at once to farming on the place he now owns, which at that time he rented. In 1856 he moved over to the place where Marsac now lives and put in about 500 acres of grain. Here nine of his family were sick at one time with typhoid fever, and his doctor?s fill was $1,500, but settled with Dr. Kinney of Fort James for $700 in the following year. He then moved to the east side of the valley and purchased the home where he now resides. Mrs. Sharp died in 1877. There were born to them ten children, viz.: Emily, Philip, Frederick, Augusta, Friedell, Eugene, Josephine, Frank, Walter, and William who is deceased. Mr. Sharp comes of a long-lived family. His mother is yet living and has numbered 103 years. His father died in Ogdensburg, New York, in 1830. Mr. Sharp?s education was limited to what he could learn at the common schools of his native county. He is a Baptist in religion and a Republican in politics. He is a member of Fort Jones Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Mrs. Sharp is buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery, with a beautiful monument above her grave.
