| 351 | Forbis & Dick Funersl Service Dezree Miller Bass January 12, 1921 ? March 3, 2020 Dezree (Dez) Miller Bass passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. She was 99 years young. Dezree?s celebration of life will be held at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 501 S. Mendenhall St., Greensboro, NC. at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Dez was born in Sampson County, NC on January 12, 1921 to the late James Walton Bass and Mary Emma Honeycutt Bass. She completed high school and business school before working as a purchasing and contracting officer on Fort Bragg military base during WWII. She relocated to Greensboro around 1950 and worked as a secretary to the President of First Home Federal Savings and Loan, Mr. Walston. In May of 1955 she was sent to the new Plaza Branch bank as a secretary to Mr. Wade Phillips, the Manager. Mr. Phillips has said about Dez that she trained him how to be a good manager! In the late 1960?s Dezree became the FIRST FEMALE Manager at Home Federal Savings and Loan. She retired in the 1980?s as First Vice President with over 30 years of service. Dezree was deeply faithful to her Lord and her church family. She served as Treasurer and was an anchor for the Presbyterian Women for many years. Additionally, she served on the hospitality committee and was a hostess for many church meals. Through her journey on this earth she was an open, young at heart, fun person who embraced social outings and new adventures, even up to a month ago. She simply loved life. She is predeceased by her brothers, Maxton Bass, and Xyvon Bass, and a sister, Ursula Bass Baggett. She is survived by her sister Marjorie Bass Goforth, of Greensboro, and Mary John Bass Turner, of Yorktown, Va. Never married, Aunt Dez also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews who felt as if she was our second Mom. She loved us all completely and unconditionally. The family would like to send a special thanks to caregivers Diane Loy & Latika Hudson who gave Dez years of dedicated care, love, and laughter. She loved you like family. And so do we. | 353 | Fort Worth Star-Telegram, May 26, 1991 J. Frank Bass FORT WORTH ? J. Frank Bass, a former business owner, died Friday at a Fort Worth retirement home. He was 87. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Mr. Bass was born in Martins Mill and had lived in Fort Worth for 58 years. He was a graduate of North Texas State University and a Navy veteran. Mr. Bass taught school for several years and then was owner and operator of Red Hat Oil Co. in Fort Worth for 30 years until his retirement in 1970. He was a Mason and a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. He and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Lung Foundation. Survivors: Wife, Scharlyn Miller Bass; two sons, James F. Bass and Charles R. | 354 | Franklin Home Page, Tennessee, Monday, August 18, 2014 Jerald Lynn Bass: Financial adviser, civic leader Jerald Lynn Bass, 66, of Pulaski and Franklin, died on Thurs., Aug. 14, at Alive Hospice Hospital in Nashville. He was 66. Mr. Bass was the son of the late Thurman (Biley) Bass and Elise Bass, Pulaski. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Williams Bass; daughter, Lori (Jeff) McAdams, Brentwood; son, Benjamin (Candace) Bass, Nashville; three grandchildren, Reid, Lily, and Gray McAdams, Brentwood; brother, Tom (Janie) Bass, Murfreesboro; nephew, Rhett Bass, Nashville; niece, Leah Bass and grand-nephew, Cole Phillips, both of Murfreesboro. He was a graduate of Giles County High School, Martin Methodist College, Middle Tennessee State University (bachelor's and master's degrees), and of the LSU School of Banking. In addition, Mr. Bass attended two years at the YMCA Night Law School in Nashville. He began his financial career in 1971 as Martin Methodist College's director of financial aid and next served as first vice-president of the Union Bank in Pulaski. Mr. Bass also served as executive vice-president of the Bank of Putnam County in Cookeville, and as president and CEO of the Cumberland County Bank in Crossville. He spent more than 21 years as a Morgan Keegan and Co. financial adviser, and since 2008 had been a financial adviser with Raymond James in Maryland Farms and the First National Bank in Pulaski. Mr. Bass was a past president of the Pulaski Rotary Club, past vice president of the Cookeville Noonday Lions Club, past Trustee of Martin Methodist College, and past president of the Cumberland Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute. He was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Franklin. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski. Their throats were cut on board his vessel when asleep on ye hay of ye quarter deck, in ye day time 17 August last" From New Findings on the Melansons David Basset and his family The fact that he was married to a Melanson does not necessarily mean that this is the place to give a complete biography of David Basset, although such a biography could fill several pages. Let us be satisfied with indicating here that he was from Marennes, department of Charente-Maritime. In 1687, when he became a citizen of the town of Boston, it is stated that he had resided there with his family for fourteen years. As regards Acadian matters, his name appears for the first time in 1687 under the pen of Parat, governor of Plaisance, when he was apprehended in the act of helping escape, to bring with him to Boston, two Huguenots whom Parat wanted to send to France. Basset was seized with his ship and had to appear before the officers of the Admiralty of Bayonne; it was a question of learning whether he professed the Catholic religion or whether he was of the Reformed Church. On November 19, 1687, the Minister in a letter from Versailles stated to Parat, "It appears from the proceedings that this man professes the Catholic religion." However, another source states that he had to put up bai of 1,000 pounds and abjure, in order to obtain his liberty. He had promised to leave Boston and settle at Port-Royal; it was on this occasion that his wife, Marie Melanson, would not agree to any of this. Ten years later, in 1697, the last of April, having left Boston loaded with merchandise for Charles de La Tour, junior, he went to contact him at his home, at Pobomcoup, now Pucnico, where Pierre Maisonnet dit Baptiste, having gotten wind of the matter, seized Basset and de La Tour, and brought them to Saint John River, at Nashwaak, where de Villebon granted liberty to Charles de La Tour, after a fine of 300 pounds, but kept Basset in custody. It wasn't until the following year that the latter was permitted to go to Boston, where he was to get his family, which perhaps was only a pretext to obtain his liberty, knowing that Marie Melanson, his wife, had made an irrevocable decision ten years earlier. Again in Acadia in 1700, he was sent for the third time to Boston to get his wife. He dared to return to Acadia without his family; we find him there until 1702, carrying on an illicit trade between Boston and Acadia. In 1701, Pierre Melsanson, his wife's uncle, owed him 1,400 pounds. It seems probable that subsequently, the merchandise which Pierre Melanson further bought from his was quite considerable, because four years later, in 1705, Pierre Melanson's debt to David Basset amounted to 3,000 pounds. On June 3 of that year, the King annulled that debt due to the lossed whcih Pierre Melanson had suffered at Minas at the time of the raid by the British, doubtless during the devastation caused here by Church in July of the preceding year. This is the last mention that is made of Basset, apparently, in the annals of Acadia. Thereafter, we will have to look for him in the West Indies. It was here that he met his death, August 28, 1724 (new style) when in broad daylight having fallen asleep on the straw, on the quarter-deck of his boat, he had his throat cut; and the same thing happened to a companion who was at his side. Thus ended tragically the one whom Marie Melanson had taken as husband at Boston, reportedly before 1682. Here are the children they are known to have had: 1- Mary, born Feburary 20, 1683 (March 2, 1684, new style); she was baptized at the Old South Church at Boston, the following April 13; 2- Daivd, born September 3, 1687; he was baptized at the same place as Mary, September 25; 3- John, born June 9, 1693; 4- Elizabeth, born July 15, 1694; 5- David, born May 31, 1697; 6- Anne, born Feburary 8, 1701 (Feburary 19, 1702, new style) BASSET David Basset, a Huguenot from Marennes, in the Saintogne region of southwestern France, married Marie Melancon dit Laverdure, Protestant daughter of Charles Melancon, at Port-Royal c1682 when he was 23. They had seven children, including three sons, but only one of them, also named David, seems to have survived long enough to marry and raise a family of his own. David and Marie settled for a time in Boston, where all of his children were born between 1684 and the early 1700s. There he "entered actively into trade between New England and Newfoundland, shipping tobacco, sugar, and other produce, in exchange for fish." In the autumn of 1687, he ran afoul of the French governor of Plaisance, Newfoundland, who accused him of transporting Huguenots to Boston. The irate governor arrested him and sent him to France, where he was imprisoned at Bayonne. Basset obtained a pardon on condition that he settle with his family at Port-Royal. When war broke out between France and England in 1689, Basset managed to slip back to Boston and, in command of the English ship Porcupine, "he took part in Phips' capture of Port-Royal in 1690. Later he participated in a raid on the coast at La Heve and in the destruction of Fort Saint-Louis ... at Chedabouctou. ... For some time, he continued to be active in both privateering and trading...." Towards the end of the war, in 1697, Basset fell into the hands of French officer Pierre Masionnat dit Baptiste at Cape Sable and was held in the fort at Nashwaak on the Riviere St.-Jean (present-day Fredericton, New Brunswick). He again secured release by promising to "go fetch his family from Boston." In December 1698, after the war had ended, he returned to Acadia "all alone." Governor Villebon arrested him and deported him back to France "on the pretext that he was a dangerous character." Basset managed to secure his release once again, however, by promising to settle in Acadia. The birth of one of his daughters at Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1702 gives a clue that this wily fellow did not remain in Acadia. Evidently, one of his descendants, five-year-old Marie Basset, daughter of deceased Francois Basset, traveling with her widowed mother, Marie-Josephe Richard, made it to Louisiana aboard L'Amitie in November 1785. | 358 | Handbook of Texas Online, Stephanie Piefer Niemeye Frederick Samuel Bass (1831 ? 1897) BASS, FREDERICK SAMUEL (1831?1897). Frederick Samuel Bass was born in Brunswick County, Virginia, on October 27, 1831, the son of Benjamin S. Bass and Sarah (Petway) Bass. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1851. Before the Civil War, he taught at a military academy in Marshall, Texas. On May 28, 1861, Bass enlisted as captain of Company E, often known as the Marshall Guards, which subsequently became Company E of the First Texas Infantry. The First Texas Infantry served in the Eastern theater of operations as part of the Army of Northern Virginia. On September 17, 1862, he was promoted to major, and on January 5, 1864, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. On July 15, 1864, he was promoted again, this time to the rank of colonel and overall commander of the First Texas Infantry Regiment. During the October 7, 1864, battle at Darbytown Road, he was injured with a slight flesh wound in the left leg, but he recovered quickly and resumed his duties. On April 9, 1865, Bass surrendered along with the rest of Gen. Robert E. Lee?s Army of Northern Virginia to Ulysses S. Grant and the United States Army at Appomattox Courthouse. As commander of the First Texas Infantry Regiment, Bass surrendered sixteen officers and 133 soldiers at Appomattox. After the war, Bass returned to Marshall and served as the president of Marshall University until 1879. On July 30, 1868, he married Mary Ezell and had one son, Robert. After his resignation as president of Marshall University the family moved to Austin. By 1896 he was a registered resident of the Texas Confederate Home and died there on July 9, 1897. Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Church of the Nazarene, Augusta, KS. Art was born in Midland, MI on December 15, 1932, to the late Iva Irene (Yaxley) and William Alfonso Bassett. He served in the U.S. Army and later as a civil servant carrying classified mail for 30 years. Art enjoyed driving a go cart and was a big fan of NASCAR. He also enjoyed miniature golf and built courses in the family's yard for them to enjoy. On September 5, 1969 he married Phyllis (Miller) in Colorado Springs, CO who survives him. He is also survived by: sons, William "Bill" Bassett of Towanda, KS; John Bassett and wife LaRonna of Augusta, KS, daughter, Regina Phillips of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Candace Beisel (Neil), Johnathon Bassett (Kelsey), and Tucker Phillips; great grandchildren, Eli Smith, IV Beisel, Braydon Shea, Wesley Bassett. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family. Quinn was born December 5, 1952, in Fort Pierce, Florida, and was the son of the late Elwyn Bass and the late Irma Gray Bass. He was a Health inspector for Palm Beach County, Florida, and was a member of the Basinger Christian Brethren Church. Quinn loved being with his family and enjoyed cooking for others; he was known for making the best pound cake. His hobbies included photography, genealogy, Arrowhead hunting, and tending cattle. Quinn is survived by his wife: Patricia Bass of Lawrenceburg, TN; son: Nathaniel Bass of Lawrenceburg, TN; brother: Brian (Becky) Bass of Pleasant Hill, OH; sister: Marilyn (Keith) Lundy of Basinger, FL; uncle: J.C. Bass, of Sanford, in Failing Health, Ends Life Sanford, April 27.- The people of Sanford were given a great shock by the news of the suicide of Mayor T.L. Bass, yesterday afternoon shortly before 4 o?clock. The act was committed in a front room of his residence with a Winchester rifle. Theullet pierced his heart and death was instantaneous. No one was at home with him at the time and the body was found by his wife about 5.30, upon her return home from visiting neighbors. The rifle with which the act was committed was found near the body. Dr. Malver was immediately summoned, but every trace of life was extinct and it was evident that he had been dead an hour or so. The dead man left a note in the pocket of his coat, the coat being laid across a chair nearby, stating that his continued bad health was the cause of his determination to end his life. The note for the most part related to business matters andas addressed to his son, E.C. Bass. Mr. Bass was at his office and about the streets yesterday until about 3 o?clock in the afternoon. He was a candidate for re-election being one of three candidates who were to participate in a primary for the nomination of mayor today. he spet most of the day among the voter soliciting support for the coming primary, and was heard frequently to express his confidence in winning in the primary and in the election May 3. However, he was heard by several people during the day and just before leaving for his home about 3 o?clock to complain of a severe pain in his head. He had been in failing health for the past three or four years, having never fully recovered from the effects of an injury received in a railroad wreck several years ago. Bass and the late Vergie Torain Bass on December 31, 1936. Following a lengthy illness, he transitioned to eternal rest on April 12, 2019. John Bass was educated in the Orange County School System, attending and graduating from Central High School, Hillsboro, North Carolina on May 31, 1956. He received several certificates from classes he attended. John Accepted the Lord at an early age and joined Glenn's Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully worked and served the Lord. John moved to Baltimore, Maryland after graduating from high school. He joined the New Psalmist Baptist Church, and served on the Ushers Ministry until he moved his membership and joined Isaiah Baptist Church, Monkton, Maryland in May 1994, under the leadership of the late Dr. John Carter. There he served on the Ushers Ministry. Years later he joined Concord Baptist Church on October 5, 1999, under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Jones. There he worked faithfully serving with the Layman's League, the Ushers Ministry and the Deacon Family Ministry. He would assist in the church wherever needed. He was also very involved in Community Affairs. John was employed by United Parcel Service (UPS) as a truck driver for 37 years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, eating good food, cruising in and out of the country and playing tennis in his younger years. He enjoyed manicuring his yard and flowers as well as other people's lawns until his health declined. John loved the Lord and doing the work of the Lord. He loved his Pastor and Church Family. John was a true soldier of the Lord that never met a stranger. Preceding him in death was a brother, Ervin Bass, sister, Frances B. Clayton, his sons, John T. Bass, Jr. and Andre L. Bass. Bass, postmaster, depot agent and storekeeper, Devereaux, Hancock Co., Ga, a station on the Macon and Augusta railway, in the western part of the county. Mr. Bass comes from good old Virginia stock, from which state his grandfather, Edmund Bass, emigrated when in his teens. Mr. Bass' father married a Miss Ingram, and settled in the western part of the county, where he reared a family of four sons and five daughters: Milton, married Ann Culver, a sister of Hardy C., whose family is mentioned elsewhere, and became the father of the following children: Ann E., Mrs. Wm. Coleman, Deveareaux; W. H., Macon; A. S., the subject of this sketch; Carrie G, widow of J. W. Mote, Devereaux; George E., private Company K, Fifteenth Georgia regiment, wounded and captured at Gettysburg, died in a Federal prison; Wesley A., planter near Devereaux; Hardy W., Baldwin county; Mary J., deceased; Sallie E.; Mrs. Wm. Brown, Devereaux; Mattie L., Mrs. F. A. Hall, Milledgeville. Mrs. Bass died in 1869. She was a woman of superior qualities and is remembered by her children as a mother faithful and true to their best interests. The father lived till 1883. He early mastered the art of successfully tilling his native heath, and was regarded as an authority on all questions pertaining to agriculture. He accumulated a good estate, and in his public and private benefactions was liberal and just. He was a member and active worker in the Methodist church, and as such is remembered as being of peculiar and wonderful power in prayer. Although not an educated man, when "talking to the Lord" he had a command of language seldom surpassed. "Syd" Bass, as he is familiarly known, came to manhood on the wave that ushered in the civil war, having been born June 22, 1841. He enlisted as a private in Company K, Fifteenth Georgia regiment, in 1861. He participated in some of the hardest fought battles of the war, notably the seven days' fight around Richmond, Fredericksburg, Sharpsburg, Gettysburg, Chancellorsville and Second Manassas, and wears the marks of two Yankee bullets, having been wounded in the shoulder at Sharpsburg, and in the thigh at Second Manassas. Witnessing the surrender of his beloved chieftain at Appomattox, he returned home, gladly laying down the implements of war to engage in the industries of peace. The business of Mr. Bass since the war has been such as to give him a large acquaintance in the county, among whom he is regarded as a faithful and conscientious official. He is a democrat, is a Mason and belongs to the Methodist church. The marriage of Mr. Bass was consummated with Miss Ella C. Simmons in 1872, who is the mother of three children: George E., died in infancy; Anna le Gay and Ora E., young ladies at home. Macon Telegraph, Georgia, Wednesday, April 18, 1906 Death of Mr. A. Sidney Bass SPARTA, Ga., April 17. ? A. Sidney Bass, for many years a merchant and station agent at Devereux, Hancock county, died this morning of paralysis, aged about 65 years. | 379 | Memoriam Mrs. Cecilia Bissett Martell Celia Bissett was born April 1, 1866, at Bourbonnais, Ill., and departed this life at her home in Zurich, Nov. 20, 1939 at the age of 73 years, 7 mos., and 20 days. She had been in failing health for several years, but was only bedfast three days when she passed away. In 1882 she was united in marriage to Julius Martell. To this union were born twelve children. One daughter, Ida, preceded her in death at the age of 2 years. Her husband also preceded her in death on January 2, 1935. In the year 1886 with her husband and two oldest children, she moved to Rooks County, Kansas. She has lived in the Zurich vicinity since then. She leaves to mourn her departure Adelore, of Manhattan, Ill., Nelda Thyfault and Victoria Bedore of Zurich, Hattie Bouchey and William of Palco, George of Damar, Eugene and Omer of Denver, Rose Buchheister and Felix of Cedar Rapids, iowa, and Irene Benoit of Stockton. He worked very hard to provide for his family and became a successful and very well respected real estate developer. He loved spending time with his family and large circle of friends. Don is preceded in death by his wife Connie, his beloved daughter Betty Bass Moore, his parents, brothers Wayne and Felix, and sister Sue. His father owned a plantation and a number of Negro slaves. A short time after grandfather Bassett came of age, he left home because he didn't believe in slavery. He settled in Pike County (now Bullock) Ala. and the rest of life was spent there. I have been told that he never did go back to Georgia. But I have also been told that one time after he married and their first child was born, he went back on a visit. He naturally wanted them to see his wife and baby. On leaving, his father offered to give him part of his slaves. He told his father he didn't want them as he did not believe in slavery and he never went back. Andrew Jackson Bassett was a Mason, and I have heard mother say many times that there had to be something very unusual if he didn't attend Lodge. He settled on a small block of land, raised a large family, lived and died on the same place. They had twin girls. The next set was Lewis and Thelma Bassett, and the next set was the twin boys born to Betty and Carlton Terry. So I judge the twins come from the Bassett side of the family. A memorial service in London will be announced at a later date. 17 Nov 2008 Nigel Fox Bassett: senior partner of Clifford Chance Nigel Fox Bassett was the senior partner at Clifford Chance, the London-based law firm that has grown into one of the world’s largest commercial practice, from 1990 to 1993, and he was closely involved in the 1987 merger that created it. On retirement, Fox Bassett was appointed to the Building Societies Commission, the mortgage lender’s regulatory authority. During his eight-year term at the BSC most of Britain’s biggest building societies – including the Halifax, the Woolwich, Alliance and Leicester and Northern Rock – swapped mutual ownership by customers for life as Stock Exchange-listed banks. Fox Bassett was born in 1929, attended Taunton School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he read history and law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1956 and in 1960, at 31, was made a partner of Coward Chance, a forerunner firm of Clifford Chance. In the early 1960s expertise at the firm was less specialised than it is now and Fox Bassett won respect for his work in the commercial and financial fields of law. Federal Mogul, the US engineering company that was expanding overseas, was a client, as was Pioneer Concrete of Australia and Cubazucar, the Cuban state marketing organisation. In 1971 Fox Bassett acted for the Government of Argentina in a boundary dispute with Chile centered on the Beagle Channel near Tierra del Fuego. His expertise was sought by overseas banks wishing to establish branches in the City of London. His practice included work resulting from the 1986 Financial Services Act, especially where it applied to the running of futures and options exchanges. Internationalisation featured strongly in Fox Bassett’s long career. At his instigation Coward Chance opened its first overseas office, in Brussels, in 1973. It was followed by moves into Dubai, Sharja, Hong Kong and Singapore. Legal professionals are often cautious, and some partners at Coward Chance often expressed nervousness about expansion, fearing it would dilute the strength of established practices in London, and elsewhere. Had it not been for the determination of Fox Bassett, the expansion would have been delayed and might not have taken place at all. Fox Bassett was part of the team at Coward Chance that orchestrated the 1987 merger with Clifford-Turner, which catapulted the newly merged firm to the top of the list of biggest law practices. The network of foreign offices proved a critical element in the negotiations with Clifford-Turner. They were important bases from which the merged firm grew. At the outset Clifford Chance had joint senior partners: Tom Johnson-Gilbert from Coward Chance and Sir Max Williams from Clifford-Turner. In 1990, Fox Bassett was elected to the post outright. As with most mergers, the integration was occasionally fraught. In this case, established lawyers with strong ideas and entrenched habits became obliged to embrace change. Few partners in either firm had many dealings with those of the other firm, reflecting the fact that the two practices were quite different. Following an initial period of familiarisation after 1987, contemporaries remember Fox Bassett’s tenure as senior partner as make-or-break time. Jeremy Carver, a longstanding colleague of Fox Bassett at Coward Chance and then Clifford Chance, said: “The period of 1990-1993 was crucial in ensuring that the merger worked… without Nigel’s rock-like dependability as senior partner, it might have failed.” Fox Bassett was succeeded by Keith Clark in 1993. He served with distinction as chairman of the executive committee of the British Institute for International and Comparative Law, as honorary treasurer of the British branch of the International Law Association, and in the City of London Law Society. In 1998 he joined the board of London First, the business lobby group dedicated to raising the profile of the capital abroad. He married his wife Anne, in 1961 and he is survived by her, a son and a daughter. Nigel Fox Bassett, senior partner of Clifford Chance, 1990-93, was born on November 1, 1929. She was born May 11, 1942, in St. Albans, daughter of J. Maurice Boucher and the late Goldie (Ward) Boucher. Ramona graduated from Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax, Class of 1960. She earned her associate's degree in secretarial sciences in 1997 from Community College of Vermont. Ramona loved to knit, play bingo, and Atlantic City and gambling. Some of her most enjoyable times were spent watching Monday night wrestling and watching baseball with her dad. Her family lovingly nicknamed her "Squeak". The family will miss her favorite saying, "We'll play it by ear". Her favorite food was macaroni and cheese with tomatoes, which was a dish her family always looked forward to. Ramona will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. He was born September 29, 1942 in Eland, the son of Frank Bessette, Hatley and the late Alice (Schofield) Bessette. Ronnie was united in marriage on November 15, 1997 to Genevieve “Jenny” Lipinski who survives. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially spending time with his daughter, Sara, rollerskating, going to Bay Beach and Jim Pecks Wildwood, the circus and swimming. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ronnie was the State Champion in wrestling and an All Conference Football running back while attending Wittenberg High School. He also has many bowling trophies. Ronnie was raised on a dairy farm and worked many years for Bessette Feed, Eland, before going to work for SNE/Crestline, Mosinee. In addition to his wife, Jenny and his father, Frank, Hatley, survivors include his daughter, Sara, at home; four brothers, Floyd Bessette, Halder, Gary (Linda) Bessette, Daniel Bessette, all of Eland and Bradley Bessette, Weston; four sisters, Florence (Ken) Klabunde, Neenah, Barbara Bessette, Halder, Patricia Schertz and Cynthia (Henry) Palma, all of Hatley; mother and father-in-law, Charles & Margaret Lipinski, Aniwa; sister-in-law, Cindy (Roger) Steele, Aniwa; brothers-in-law, Steven Lipinski, Aniwa and Robert Harris, Birnamwood; and many nieces and nephews.
