The ushers entered and stood two on each side, Messrs. C.T. Owens, Richard McLendon, Harry Merritt and Ed Castleberry; then came the groomsmen, Messrs. Harris Perry, of Valdosta, Robert Bates, of Waycross, John Hanger, Broward Poppell, of Jesup, and Dr. Neil Peavy. The four bridesmaids each came alone, Misses Vivian Wodham, Miriam Bowers, Annie Laurie Warren, and Mrs. Alice Johnson, wearing pink yellow, green and lavender organza dresses, and carrying old-fashioned nosegays of pink rosebuds, valley lilies, white lace, and silver ribbons. The bride’s mother, as matron of honor, wore rose crepe romaine over taffeta and carried a bouquet of Talisman roses and flame gladioli. She was followed by the maid of honor, Miss Lila Boozer, of Bainbridge, wearing pale blue organza and carrying a bouquet of pink Killarney roses. Little Freddie Flournoy, as ring bearer, wore a miniature bridal outfit of white satin with veil and carried a basket of white tea roses. The bride entered with her father, Mr. A.L. Bowden, and wore an exquisite model of Queen Elizabeth satin in eggshell, and her veil was caught on each side of her blonde hair with valley lilies. Her bouquet was of bride’s roses and valley lilies. She carried her mother’s handkerchief of rose point lace which she used at her own wedding. The groom entered with his best man, Mr. J.W. McGehee. The ceremony was followed by a prayer changed by the choir, “O Perfect Love,” which was written for the Duchess Louisa’s wedding in Westminster Abbey. A brilliant reception was held at the Lee-Grant Hotel following the ceremony. Here the door was opened by little Katherine Bowden, of Gastonia, North Carolina. Mrs. Charles Bradshaw, Mrs. S.B. Bowers, Mrs. G.E. Ricker and Mrs. Fred Brewer, received the guests and presenting them to the bridal party. The lobby of the hotel was decorated with gladioli in all colors, and the bride’s table held a three-tier cake on a reflector edged with fern, while on each side was a cascade of white lighted tapers embedded in mounds of white asters. A miniature bride and groom topped the cake. Presiding over the bride’s table were Mrs. A.H. Denmark and Mrs. James Evans, while others assisting were Mesdames Paul Ross Moore, J.W. McGehee, William Moody, Frank Fletcher, R.V. Woodham, R.J. McCarty, S.G. Pryor, Jr., Chester Strickland, Battie Sparks, John Mann, Modena Rogers, Cleve Hunt and J.C. Hunt, of Valdosta, and Miss Lillian Bowden, of Wilmington, North Carolina. Misses Polly McNeely, Alice Hale, Blanche Morris, Lonnie V. Morris, assisted by Misses Patsy and Shelly Sparks, Betty Nelle Fussell, Mary Frances Turner, Rita Evans, Mary Williams, Norma Strickland, Anne Register, Loise Evans, Elene Dorminy and Catherine and Mary Moore, of Americus, served the ices and cakes. Miss Louis Smith kept the bride’s book. Mrs. Knight, the bride’s grandmother, was gowned in black lace trimmed with black and white pleatings. Following the reception the bride and groom left by motor for Sea Island Beach and will visit points in Florida before making their home at Miami where Mr. Bass is connected with the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company. For traveling Mrs. Bass donned a beautiful white crepe dress with coral coat, hat and other accessories in coral. Among the out-of-town guests were Reverend and Mrs. George S.
