| 48323 | The Robesonian, Lumberton, North Carolina, Tuesday, 17 January 2023 Donna Bass Bentley SHALLOTTE ? Mrs. Donna Bass Bentley, 70, of Shallotte, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick. To know her was to love her, and if you didn't, she didn't care. That is the best way to explain this little ball of dynamite named Donna. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Aunt and Mother in Law, who would do anything for the ones that she loved. If you spent enough time around Donna you knew or learned quickly that it was "her way" or the highway, there was no negotiating with her, but that is what made her the person she was and that people loved. She didn't take no junk, even with her being as petite as she was and probably not even 5 feet tall. She married her love Kenneth Hodge on Nov. 1, 2000, and the two of them began their life together as one, building a home in Marion. She began working at Columbia Forest Products on March 1, 1999 as an inside sales representative. Along the way, her coworkers became good friends and she still maintained those friendships when she retired from Columbia Forest Products on March 27, 2015. After her retirement she and Ken moved to Shallotte to finish out their years together. If you knew Donna you knew that the beach was her "happy place" but with her sickness, she was not able to enjoy the beach as she once could. Just being there and in the atmosphere was good enough for her. She enjoyed sitting on her screened-in back porch, soaking up the weather and reading a good book. Another favorite hobby for her was cooking and baking. She always watched cooking shows and would try out the recipes that she saw on there. You never had to worry about going hungry when at her home, she made sure you ate, even if you didn't want to. When her health would allow, you could catch her and Ken on their boat fishing, particularly flounder fishing. Ken was driving the boat and Donna in her bikini top soaking up the rays and reeling in the flounder. Donna was able to enjoy many years of retirement and the pleasures of life before her sickness worsened. She would not sit back and let her sickness win, she fought until the very end. Even during her sickness, she wanted to make sure that everyone else was taken care of and looked after, that was just Donna. We her family know that we will see her again. This is not goodbye, just see you later. Fond memories may be shared at www.whitefuneralservices.com. White Funeral and Cremation Service, Supply/Bolivia Chapel. | Bass, Donna (I3685)

She was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Helen Bass of Fairmont. To her family she was known as a strong but compassionate, tell-it-like-it-is woman. She loved her family with the same fearless attitude. She had a brave approach to everything that came her way and was a voice of wisdom to many, particularly her children. | 48334 | The Rocheport Democrat, Missouri, Friday, 27 January 1905 Death of Ev. M. Bass Attorney Ev. M. Bass died at the Parker Hospital in Columbia, at 8 o?clock Saturday morning. Mr. Bass became seriously ill Wednesday night. At about midnight he went to the home of his physician, Dr. M.D. Lewis, who was not long in discovering that his friend and patient was in a critical condition. Dr. Lewis had Mr. Bass removed to the Parker Hospital at once, where he remained unconscious until the end came Saturday morning. His death was due to a small tumor which had formed on the brain. Burial took place at Salem Baptist church Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity. Ev. M. Bass will be greatly missed from Columbia and Boone county. As a friend he was ever true; as a man he was honest and honorable. Liberal to the extreme, ever willing to share his bed and his las quarter with a true friend. Ev. Bass was a noble man at heart ? possessed of those qualities of manhood that ever brought around him friends. Quick to resent an insult, and the man did not live who could bluff or frighten Ev. Bass. The writer and Ev. M. Bass have been friends for more than twenty years and we know of his manly qualities; we know that he was true as steel at all times and under any and all circumstances. When the cold clods of earth hid from view the casket that held the remains of Ev. M. Bass then was shut out from this world of trials and tribulations the remains of a many who was worthy of greater praise than selfish mankind had given him. How far better would it be to bestow kindly acts, cheerful words and the hand of friendship to the living. The dead don?t need it. Deceased was born on a farm twelve miles south of Columbia fifty-six years ago and was the son of the late Eli Bass, at one time the wealthiest and best known farmer and trader in Central Missouri. | Bass, Everett Meredith (I10)

| 48346 | The Roxboro Courier, North Carolina, Thursday, 9 October 1890 Death of Mr. Thomas Bass On Tuesday morning, September 23rd, 1890, expected death came and relived Tommie R. Bass of his suffering, and released his pure spirit from its emaciated body and sent him home to heaven to be with Jesus, of whom he spoke so often, and with whom he longed to be so much. He was born April 13th, 187; professed religion and joined Epheaus Baptist church in the years 1886. He was a model in obedience as a son, in conduct as a church member, in liberality as a Christian and in patience as a suffered. Neuralgia was his disease, from which he suffered until the ocular nerve became paralyzed, producing blindness. During the two years of his blindness and suffering, he was never heard to complain, and immediately after his severest attacks would sing some sweet song, expressive of his faith in Christ. He ask sorrowing parents and devoted sisters and brothers not to grieve for him, saying, ?I am going to rest, and be with my Savior in glory?. His funeral, which took place in the home of his childhood and life, on Wednesday evening following his death, was largely attended by his friends, who felt though they were laying his body to rest in the grave, they were not burying their hopes, but would meet him again in the sweet by-and-by. May the dear parents, sisters, brothers, and friends, all look to Jesus, and be sustained by His all-sufficient grace in this their time of need. His Pastor. Biblical Recorder, Raleigh, North Carolina, Wednesday, 1 October 1890 Bass BASS ? On Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, 1890, God called Thomas R.
