| 48666 | The State Columbia, South Carolina August 8, 2018 Oscar Bass IV (Picture included) Oscar Earle Bass Lexington - Oscar Earle Bass, IV, age 23, began his journey onto the next life early Friday morning on August 3rd, 2018. From his birth on July 13th, 1995 in Columbia, South Carolina, until his passing, he touched and left his mark on many souls, not only emotionally with his kind heart, but physically with his prowess in tattooing. Oscar was born to Aimee Louise Brown and Oscar Earle Bass, III and raised by Susan Watkins Brown and Marion Grist Brown, Sr. The youngest of three children to grow up in Forest Acres along with his loving older sister, Lindsay Elizabeth Brown, and wonderful uncle, Marion "Rion" Grist Brown, Jr., who was also the best older brother imaginable. Oscar was predeceased by his mother, Aimee Louise Brown and his father; and grandfather, Marion Grist Brown, Sr. Oscar is survived by his beautiful daughter, Aimee Elizabeth Elaine Sellers; his father, Oscar Earle Bass, III; his brother, Marion Grist Brown, Jr.; his sister, Lindsay Elizabeth Brown; his mother, Susan Watkins Brown; and countless family members as well as many many friends he considered close family. He had a way of easily capturing hearts with his adventurous personality and uplifting spirit. When Oscar was around he made it impossible to not laugh and be joyful by always selfishlessly putting the happiness of others first; he was too wholesome and caring for this world. Fortunately not only will he be remembered for his unique and loving soul but also by the creativity shown in his passion for tattooing. He worked hard for many years and with each piece of art he completed the shine of his confidence would brighten. If Oscar wasn't hard at work with a new art project or cracking jokes over game of monopoly, he was out and about with friends popping 360s on his skateboard where he probably shouldn't have been. That's exactly how Oscar would like to be remembered, enjoying himself cruising through life on a wooden deck and honing his artistic abilities. A ceremony in remembrance of Oscar's life will be held at Thompson's Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Friday, August 10th, at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com. | Bass, Oscar Earle IV (I168)

| 48696 | The State, Columbia South Carolina, September 6, 2020 Margaret Tompkins Bass (Picture included) 1946 ? 2020 COLUMBIA - Margaret Tompkins Bass walked into the open arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday morning, August 30, 2020 following a long battle against lung disease. Even though she suffered with this illness for 9 years, grace abounded through her sufferingwith Christ enabling her to continue to be a witness to others and showing them His love. Her friends and family rejoice that she is no longer in pain and look forward to a celebration of life at a later date to honor her, remember her smile and laugh together again. Margaret lived every day of her life, even the tough ones at the end, full of gratitude and joy. She put others before herself instinctively and was a friend, mentor, confidante and counselor to so many people near and far. She was also a daughter, sister, wife, aunt and Grauntie to the lucky ones that called her family. Margaret poured her heart and soul into her relationships/friendships, work, church and anything with which she was involved. Above all Margaret loved the Lord and was excited to know God's will in her life and how she could serve others. Margaret met the love of her life when she was just 17 and finally married him at the age of 53. The unconventional love she shared with Larry Bass spanned five decades and 13 years of marriage. Prior to her marriage to Larry, she and her sister Frances lived together for 30+ years. Margaret nor Larry had children of their own, but they were certainly the first called when a misguided nephew, niece, godson or goddaughter needed advice. Suffice to say both were well acquainted with the roller coaster of child rearing. Margaret was, in many ways, a woman ahead of her time. She was a single, working woman for more than 35 years, beginning her career as a secretary and ending her career as a Manager of Economic Development and Governmental Affairs at SCE&G/SCANA. She completed her B.S. degree from the University of South Carolina at night while working during the day, in an industry that was predominantly male. She would never dare consider herself a trailblazer, but she was. Margaret had a servant's heart and her faith was precious to her. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and served in many ministries there. Her favorite was handling tickets to the annual First Baptist Christmas Pageant and Fourth of July Celebration of Liberty. Margaret was born in Conway, SC on June 13, 1946 to the late Joseph Byars and Lola Bowman Tompkins. She was raised in Georgetown, SC with her late brother Richard Tompkins and beloved sisters Marilyn Tompkins Barnhill of Pawleys Island and Frances Tompkins of Columbia. The sisters remained especially close throughout their lives. Margaret made a point to visit her sister Marilyn and her family at every military post where they were stationed and Marilyn is ever thankful to Margaret for her strong commitment to Christ and her influence on their family. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Dayton Anderson Volunteer Fund at First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia SC 29201; Harvest Hope Food Bank, 2220 Shop Rd., Columbia, SC 29201; Tara Hall Home for Boys, PO Box 955, Georgetown, SC 29442 or any place you feel will glorify God's Kingdom. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com. | Tompkins, Margaret (I287)

| 48698 | The State, Columbia, South Carolina, 27 Mar 2005 Joan Bassett Procopio COLUMBIA - Joan Bassett Procopio, 61, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed peacefully as she slept on March 17th, 2005, returning home to God's loving embrace. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 4th, 1944, she is survived by her sons, Robert Jr., Vincent, and Michael; daughter, Deborah Finan and her husband John, along with grandaughters, Abigail and Katherine; brothers, John and Richard Bassett of Cleveland, and sister, Barbara Aker of North Olmsted, Ohio. Her parents, Roy and Ruth Bassett, also of Cleveland, preceded her in passing. Joan graduated from West Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and went on to attend Cleveland Institute of Art. Thereafter, she married Robert A. Procopio and worked as a commercial artist for Reuben H. Donnelly company creating yellow pages advertisements in Cleveland, New York and then Pittsburgh in addition to being an active Avon cosmetics representative, all while raising four children... a truly incredible feat. She was the most patient and loving mother any child could be blessed with, and with her warm smiles and gentle hugs always reassured us that everything was going to be all right. In later years, she was active as a volunteer in South Carolina, being named Volunteer of the Year for various state programs as well as speaking at special engagements. Truly a woman of many talents, she was most gifted as an artist, her specialties in painting with oils, acrylics and water colors and sketching with charcoal, not to mention being a superb cook and handy with thread and needle. Joan was also an excellent gardener with a true green thumb, and always had the most beautiful, vibrant gardens, with tulips of all colors her favorite. Around the holiday season, she had a knack for decorating and loved spending Christmas with her family, whom she loved dearly. Mama, we love you and miss you so much, and know that you are the most beautiful angel in Heaven, painting sunsets and rainbows with wonderful colors for us all to gaze up and wonder at. You are home now, Mam, with God looking after His most special daughter the way you looked after all of us. Sweet dreams, Mama. Private services held at Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, March 25th, in Raleigh, North Carolina. | Bassett, Joan (I3047)
