The funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Otoe Cultural Center in Red Rock with burial to follow in the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee. Vernon Gale Tohee Sr. was born March 4, 1937, in Pawnee, the son of William Tohee and Dorcas Bassett Tohee. He attended school in Red Rock and was active as an athlete4 and was active in Future Farmers of America. He was employed by the Otoe-Missouria trive numerous times. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeos, playing dominos and working on cars. Survivors include his wife, Addie Tohee of Stillwater; four sons, Vernon Tohee Jr., Leon Tohee, Brad Childs, Pawnee "Shawn" Tohee, all of Red Rock; six daughters, Laetitia Atkins, Betty Tohee, Caroline Reveles, Theresa Tohee and Meta Tohee, all of Red Rock, and Gabrielle Wilson of Ponca City; three sisters, Norma Tohee and Lucille Jeans, both of Red Rock, and Billy Ann Tohee of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Wayne Tohee of Anadarko, Kenneth Tohee of New Mexico and William Tohee of Perkins; 13 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. | Tohee, Vernon Gale Sr. (I36)

She loved sports, the out-of-doors and she especially loved to fish. She had a heart of gold. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bassett; five daughters, Joyce Doten, Brenda Breeze, and Sophia Paul, all of Pleasant Point, Venus Murphy of Indian Township, Jamie Murphy of Perry; four sons, Robe Tomah, Joseph Murphy, Kenneth Murphy and Travis Murphy; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, two sisters and three brothers. Friends may call at their residence Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Pleasant Point, Perry, with Fr. Morin, celebrant. | 50556 | Versailles Leader-Statesman, Illinois, August 27, 2019 Gerry Bass Geraldine E. Bass, 101, of Laurie, formerly of Decatur, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 in Laurie. She was born Feb. 7, 1918 in Bingham, Ill. to Joel W. and Essie E. Abell. She grew up on a farm in central Illinois, graduated in 1935 from Fillmore High School, and then moved to Decatur, Illinois. She took post-graduate classes and worked for a CPA several years. She was a credit and office manager 16 years at Decatur Memorial Hospital and Decatur Dry Goods. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi women?s business sorority and was instrumental in starting the local Decatur chapter. She married Charles Francis Bass July 4, 1943 during the war. He preceded her in death. She was active in Girl Scouts, and was a lifetime member of the PTA, Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the VFW. She also worked part-time in the credit department at Goldblatt?s Furniture store. She was a member of Grace United Methodist church more than 50 years, and she volunteered at the church Economy Shop more than 30 years. In 2014, she moved to Laurie Knolls Assisted Living in Laurie. She was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She is survived by daughters Kathy Carter and her husband Carey of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Patti Doyle and husband Don of Gravois Mills; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Craig, and her husband of 62 years. Graveside services will be held in Illinois at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Laurie Knolls. He was born in Victoria, BC, the son of Harold and Sheila. Brian was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret of over 40 years. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Lara (Jeremy) and grandchildren, Dylan and Marisa. A loving father also to daughter, Barbara (John) and sons, Allan (Kim) and Brent and grandchildren, Jason, Amy, Stacie and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ceylyn, Jessica, Connor and Mercedes. He also leaves half-sister, Theresa, brother-in-law, Ken, sister-in-law, Heather and nieces and nephews. Brian was a devoted husband and father. He was a hard worker throughout his life. He held many jobs in his youth and was a teacher for 33 years, beginning his teaching career in Trail, BC and then in Greater Victoria as a junior high science teacher at Oak Bay, Reynolds and Cedar Hill. His hobbies many, he loved family camping, gardening, canoeing and building many projects around the home. With a good memory, he could recount many a tale of old Victoria and had a keen interest in the city's history. He especially loved his BC camping in the Kicking Horse area among the mountains and trains. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital Extended Care Unit 1 for their first-class care these last few years. Brian has been buried at Royal Oak Burial Park. She had been bedfast six months as the result of a fractured hip. Funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Bassett home. Burial in Bear Creek cemetery. Mrs. Long was born Dec. 6, 1943, at Greensburg, Ind., a daughter of Michael and Anna Snell. She came to Iowa in 1861 and lived for many years in the Prairie Creek community. She was married in 1865 to Nathanial Sammons in 1865, who died in 1873. Two children were born to this union. Some years later she was married to C. P. Long, whose death occurred in 1905. The children are Mrs. W.J. Bassett of Vinton, J.H. Sammons of Gleichen, Alberta, Can., and Mrs. C.A. Bunten of Rush City, Minn. The mother's death followed only sixteen days after the passing of her youngest son, Frank Long of Missoula, Mont. There are thirteen grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. For twenty-three years Mrs. Long lived with her son Frank at Missoula, Mont., and raised her grandson, Chester long. The last five years she cared for her son, who was paralyzed nine years ago and helpless five years. The grandson, Chester Long of Missoula, Mont., and the daughter, Mrs. C.A.
