| 50651 | W.J. Bassett-Lowke London Times, 23 Oct 1953 W. J. Bassett-Lowke, the founder of the famous firm of model makers, of Northampton and High Holborn, died on October 21, 1953 at the age of 76. Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke was born in 1877 at Northampton. Engineering was in his blood. His grandfather established the engineering and boiler-making business of Bassett and Sons in Northampton in 1859. His father was also and engineer and it was while he was apprenticed to his father works of J.T. Lowke and Sons that the firm of Bassett-Lowke took shape. Frustrated by the difficulties of getting well-designed components to meet his model-making needs, he decided to produce them for himself and for othe faced with the same problem. In this he was helped by his father and by his friend, H.F.R. Franklin. They advertised in the Model Engineer, then just established. A mail order business sprang up and the firm of Bassett-Lowke was born. The first of the famous catalogues was issued in 1899. Since then his models of railways, ships, and engineering equipment, many of them exquisite replicas of their prototypes, have become world famous. Bassett-Lowke was a director and one of the founders of the Northampton Repertory Theatre, and since his election as a member of the Northampton Town Council in 1930 he played a prominent part in municipal activities. | 50654 | Wabash Plain Dealer, Indiana, Monday, 17 June 2013 Beth Ann Bass Arwood Beth Ann Bass-Arwood, 54, of rural Wabash, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 3, 1958, in Wabash to Richard B. and Betty (Helm) Bass. Beth was a 1976 graduate of Wabash High School and received her B.S. and Masters degrees from Purdue University. She married Lee Arwood on Feb. 15, 1991. Beth taught in the Wabash City Schools since 1981. She was an inspiration to students and staff alike. She was an active member in the Wabash Calvary Baptist Church. Beth enjoyed flower gardening, scrapbooking, cooking, and music. She is survived by husband, Lee Arwood, two sons, Ryan Arwood, and Taylor Arwood, and mother Betty Bass, all of Wabash; three stepchildren, Kevin (Abby) Arwood of Washington, D.C., Brian (Meredith) Arwood of Peru, and Abbey Arwood of Wabash; five grandchildren, Grant Arwood and Claudia Arwood, both of Washington, D.C., Elliott Wiles, and Reed Wiles, both of Wabash, and Molly Arwood of Peru; two sisters, Jane (Tim) Bahney of Akron, and Susan Bass (Kendra Ducy) of New Palestine; three nephews, Richard Bahney of Indianapolis, Clayton Bahney and Garrett Bahney, both of Akron and her niece, Hannah Bahney of Akron; and in-laws William (Carolyn) Arwood and Mark (Jan) Arwood all of Ohio, and Dianna (Sam) Wilson of Peru. | 50655 | Wabash Plain Dealer, January 24, 1906 Captain Thomas Bassett, Formerly of Versailles Died in Peoria, Ill. Saturday Morning. Captain Thomas Bassett, a veteran of both the Mexican and civil wars, died Saturday morning at 8 o?clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Connard, xxxx North Madison avenue, Peoria, Ill., after an illness of several months. Death was due to a complication of diseases contracted while in the services of his country. Captain Bassett was a member of one of the most patriotic families in the United States, which has furnished many soldiers for the various conflicts in which the country has been engaged. The grandfather of Captain Bassett was a soldier in the Revolution under George Washington, his father a soldier of the war of 1812, he of both the Mexican and civil wars, and his two sons, Robert and John, both serving in the Philippines. Captain Bassett went to Peoria from Versailles only last March, Indiana being his home state. During his short resident in Peoria he became acquainted with the few remaining soldiers of the Mexican war and enjoyed their associations. He enlisted for service on the southwestern frontier in the Mexican war as a private in the Fourth Indiana regiment, and in the civil war was a captain in the Ninth battalion. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Arthur Beck, Mrs. Frank Connard, Robert and Fred Bassett, all of Peoria, and Mrs. Belle Roberts, of Minneapolis. The funeral services were held at two o?clock, Monday afternoon, at 1019 North Madison avenue, in charge of the W.R.C. The interment was made in Springdale cemetery, Peoria. Born on February 9, 1940, in Sherman, Texas in Grayson County, Barbara was the daughter of Levi Henry Davis and Jewell Newsom Davis. March 30, 1957, Barbara married the love of her life, William Ambrose "Dub" Bass. A devoted homemaker for most of her life, Barbara made significant contributions to her community and enjoyed a fulfilling career working for Dr. Milton Spark in his office for 20 years. She briefly spent time working at the Connally High School daycare and for a short time in the lunchroom. Barbara's vibrant spirit was reflected in her passions and interests. A huge fan of the Texas Rangers, she never missed a game and was equally devoted to watching Baylor Women's Basketball, often stopping everything to cheer on the Lady Bears. She was known for dressing to the nines for church and was a hard worker who enjoyed cake walks and eating at the Cracker Barrel. She valued the time spent with her girlfriends, often driving them around and enjoying meals together, reinforcing the importance of friendship in her life. In partnership with her husband, Barbara embraced the joy of square dancing, traveling to participate in dances. She found happiness in her home, cultivating a beautiful garden filled with flowers and sharing her talents as a seamstress by sewing clothing for her children. Barbara had a fondness for Elvis Presley?s music, as well as watching her favorite shows, "All My Children" and "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." An active member of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Barbara and Dub played a pivotal role in establishing the Lakeview Thrift Store, demonstrating their commitment to service and community involvement. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 50 years, William Bass, 10 siblings, and her beloved aunt, Sally Thomas. She is survived by her sisters, Diann Frith and Joyce Balderman, her children: Brad Bass and wife, Sally; Sally French and husband, Lanny; Tammy Bass and husband, Duane; and Tommy Bass and wife, Becky. Barbara took great pride in her grandchildren, Calvin and Whitney Bass, Meredith Bass, Will and Kelsey Bass, Jake and Ashley French, Lauryn and Scott Kappes, Lindsay and Nolan Bright, and Levi Bass. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Daisy was born in Mills, Texas, to the late William B. and Maude Polk Hardin and grew up in the Brady area. She was a graduate of Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos. After college she went to work as a home demonstration agent in Alice, where she met Henry T. Bass while he was working with the U.S. Agriculture and Conservation Service. The couple were married on May 27, 1939, in Alice and moved to Meridian in 1946. He continued his work with the U.S. Government and she began a career with the Meridian Independent School District as a homemaking teacher. She stayed in the Meridian schools for many years, teaching the girls to cook and sew. During this time, she completed her Master's Degree at Baylor University. She was always involved in the community and her church. She was a faithful believer and one did not have to talk about religion ? one just knew it was there. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Bass, on Sept. 19, 2005. As the wife of a naval officer, Della lived in many communities and was active in church, school, and civic organizations. In Dallas, her membership in St. Mark's Presbyterian Church led her to participate as a Vacation Bible School teacher, librarian, and substitute church secretary and on the Committee on Aging at the Presbytery level. Friends and family members will remember her generosity, gracious hospitality and sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. Rivers, with whom she shared almost 65 years of marriage. Sep. 11, 2024 Keith Howard Bass peacefully left this earth to be with the Lord on September 11, 2024, after a courageous 18 month battle with esophageal cancer. Keith was born to Charles and Retha Bass on August 16, 1960, at Lockbourne Air Force Base near Columbus, Ohio. With his father serving in the Air Force, they soon left Ohio and the family spent Keith's early childhood years in Texas, Montana, and California before settling in Waco when his father retired in 1970. He had wonderful childhood memories, many around family adventures to Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite and a particularly memorable road trip to Mexico City. He also spoke fondly of growing up in Waco and the friendships made, many that are still strong today. Keith graduated from Richfield High School in Waco, Texas in 1978 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. He had a thirst for knowledge and a sincere interest in everyone he encountered. He found great joy in his work throughout the years and was loved and admired by his peers and clients alike. Keith held various positions including Key Account Executive at Montana Power in Butte, Montana and Manager, National Accounts at NIPSCO in Merrillville, Indiana before finding an endeavor that brought him great passion and a sense of pride. Keith helped develop the idea for WWP Energy Solutions (later Avista Advantage) and was recruited to start the company as a founder. Overall, his focus on meeting the needs of customers helped develop an entire industry and his ability to connect with anyone made him perfect for a career in sales and customer service. This experience led him to other positions in energy and sustainability, but the lifelong friendships and memories made at Avista Advantage held a special place in his heart. With his love of people also came a desire for community involvement. Keith sat on the Montana Governor's Council on Tourism, served as a board member of the Montana Inn-Keepers Association and was a committee member of Edison Electric Institute's (EEI) National Accounts Program for many years. Keith was one of the ad hoc founding fathers of the National Key Accounts program. He and a handful of others were responsible for taking a fledgling little initiative and turned it into the program that it is today. The special connections at EEI continued to be important to him throughout the years. Keith met the love of his life, Susan Harman, in New York City in September of 2003. They began dating in June of 2004 and were married July 22, 2006. After spending time living in Manhattan, Palm Springs and Dallas, they finally settled on Bainbridge Island in 2009. They enjoyed a rich life together and spent fifteen of their eighteen married years raising their two daughters in a community that they both cherished. Keith loved his girls beyond measure. He enthusiastically took part in every possible dance recital, basketball game, fundraiser, volunteer opportunity or bike to school day and told anyone that would listen about all the unique gifts and talents that his daughters exhibited. Keith also loved travel and adventure. He visited 49 of the 50 states and loved acting as tour guide on the many trips he shared with Susan and the girls. They enjoyed regular visits to Martha's Vineyard, Waco and Kauai, as well as numerous ski adventures and special trips to France and Monaco. He was an early riser that loved to garden, do DIY projects around the house, cook meals for the family and play cribbage with Susan on the porch. He loved golf and enjoyed regular golf getaways with his brothers and friends. Family was everything to Keith. There was nowhere he would rather be than with his family and he radiated joy and pride whenever they were together. Although Keith left Texas in his 20's, he remained a Texan through and through. He loved Texas barbecue, the Houston rodeo, and drives in the Hill Country. He had a Texas drawl and a swagger when he walked, both adding to his undeniable charm. He was a true gentleman with a pure heart and a gentle nature. He was a polished cowboy and a man of deep faith. He lived his life tenaciously and gracefully and in his last days, the doctors expressed awe of his strength and resilience. Keith was a George Strait fan and listened to little else. You could often find him on the porch or working in the yard with George's tunes playing. You would see a smile cross his face when hearing the "hook" of one of George's songs and occasionally, you would even catch a tear in his eye when listening to the lyrics. Keith is survived by his wife Susan Harman and daughters Graysen and Barrett Bass of Bainbridge Island, Washington, brothers John Bass (Sydna) of Anderson, Texas and Charlie Bass (Sandra) of Houston, Texas, sister Becky Bass of Waxahachie, Texas, and a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and in-laws that adored him. Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Retha and Charles Bass. Keith loved watching Graysen and Barrett grow in their faith with their involvement in Young Life. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Retha was born August 10, 1933, in Coolidge, Texas, to W.H. "Will" and Sarah Furlow. Retha graduated salutatorian from Coolidge High School. She then attended Baylor Nursing School at Hillcrest Hospital where she earned a degree as a surgical technician. She later joined the Air Force and served with the medical group at James Connally AFB in Waco. While at James Connally she met and married Charles, her husband of 67 years. After Charles' retirement from the Air Force, they returned to Waco. She worked in various nursing capacities throughout her life. The last position she held was that of a surgical R.N. at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, W.F. Furlow; and a sister, Martha Mueck. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Bass; sons, John R. Bass and wife, Sydna, Charles E. Bass, Jr., and wife, Sandra, and Keith H. Bass and wife, Susan; and a daughter, Rebecca; four granddaughters, Carey Powell and her husband, Brandon, Sara Lichty and her husband, Erik, Graysen Bass and Barrett Bass; and four great-grandsons, Hunter Powell, Hudson Powell, Mason Lichty and Lane Lichty. Charles and Retha also "adopted" 18 Baylor students, providing a home away from home during their time attending the university in Waco. Retha loved to travel and spend time with her family. Aug. 10, 2022 On August 10, 2022, surrounded by loved ones, Mary Sue Bass went to join her devoted family and friends in their heavenly home. A visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. Mary Sue was born on December 15, 1922, to Thomas and Virginia Davis in Hico, Texas. Shortly after graduating from Crawford High School in 1940, she began training to become a licensed cosmetologist. She began her first job in Calvert, Texas on December 7, 1941. With the outbreak of World War II, she worked for a time as government teletypist in Ft. Worth before moving to El Paso to live with her sister and help with raising her three nephews. Following the war, she returned to McGregor where she worked for various beauty salons before opening her own salon where she worked for the next 54 years. On November 10, 1947, she married Cohen Bass. Their marriage endured for 67 years until his death in 2014. They were blessed with two children, a son Jeff and a daughter Katherine. In later years, she doted on her grandchildren, Thomas and Megan Bass and Elizabeth and Philip Johnston. More recently, she had the thrill of enjoying time with her three great grandchildren, Andrew Smid and Barrett (Bear) and Sebastian Breeland. Despite work and a full family life, Mary Sue found time to work with various community groups ranging from to the Red Hat Society and the McGregor Gardening Club and a weekly coffee group. Mary Sue is survived by her son Jeff and wife Margery of Woodway and her daughter Katherine Johnston and husband Mike of Ft. Worth, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, a niece Peggy Petrie and husband Pete of Boerne, nephew Tommy Wheeler and wife Bettye of Clifton, and nephew Dale Davis of Seattle, Washington. Following a private graveside service Mary Sue will be interred next to her husband, Cohen, in Post Oak Cemetery. Kenneth Edward Bass peacefully passed away Oct. 27, 2007, from kidney failure at his home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Nancy Schuler officiating and burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 29, at the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. He was born April 11, 1924, in DeLeon, Texas, to Charles Edward Bass and Sallie Catherine Collins Bass. Ken was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a medic in the Army and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He was held as a prisoner of war until he was liberated by the Russians in April 1945. He was honorably discharged Dec. 3, 1945. Ken graduated from Southwestern University at Georgetown with degrees in sociology and psychology. He earned a Masters of Theology from Perkins School of Theology. He served as a Methodist minister in many communities throughout the Central Texas Conference until he retired in 1989. Ken married Alice Fern Grounds at Dresden, May 14, 1955. He was proud to be a 32-degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Lions Club. He was also a member of Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Elmer Bass; and two grandchildren, Brian and Brianna Bass. He is survived by his wife, Alice Bass of Corsicana; sons, Kenneth P. Bass and his wife, Belinda of Waco, Conway Bass and his wife, Peggy of Irving, and Robert Bass and his wife, Beverly of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Keith, Shannon and Samantha Bass, and Collin and Casey Bass; and great-grandchildren, Brittney and Bransen Bass. In1943, he became one of the first city mail carriers for McGregor, a position he held for the next 30 years until his retirement in 1973. In 1974, he began a second career as a salesman for Gilmore & Davis Furniture where he made many new friends and gained a second family. He retired from Gilmore & Davis in 1997.His retirement years were devoted to spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and landscaping his yard. Cohen enjoyed dancing, especially Texas Swing, as well as playing dominoes with friends and family. He loved gardening and landscaping was constantly working in his yard. He also loved to take scenic drives across central Texas and was often happiest when on the road.Cohen is survived by his wife, Mary Sue; son, Jeff D. Doris was born Dec. 7, 1924, to G.E. Hilliard and Janie Curry Hilliard in Coryell Co., Texas. She attended Clear Creek Elementary and Killeen High School, and later married Joe H. Bass on Oct. 16, 1945. Joe preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1981. She worked at the Owens-Illinois glass plant in Waco for several years, and still enjoyed visits from her many friends and co-workers later in her life. Doris lived her life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glendell Hilliard and Pat Hilliard; sisters, Winnie Delano, Wilma Lee, Ruby Gault and Beatrice Hilliard; and nephew Stan Hilliard; a special beloved friend of many years Bobby Winningham. She is survived by her brother, Randell Hilliard of Hamilton; sons, Nelson Bass and wife, Susie, Ronnie Bass and wife, Tanna, and Richard Bass and wife, Patricia; also by her grandsons, James Bass, Steve Bass, Ryan Bass, Gino Padilla, Joey Wayne Bass, Chris Cameron, and Danny Bass; granddaughter, Linette Hagar. Imogene had a very kind heart and enjoyed many roles in life: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was truly loved by many and will be deeply missed. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Gerald Grady Bass; her loving daughter, Karen Ann Bass Ragan; and numerous brothers and sisters that she dearly loved. She was born January 4, 1929, in a farm house between Atlanta and Douglassville, Texas to Elvin and Hannah Whittington Heldt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.D. Bass, 2 brothers; Carl and Leon Heldt, 2 brothers- in- law; Leroy Howell and Gene Brown. She is survived by her husband Dwayne Salmons, son Lance Bass and wife Carolyn, grandson Calan Bass, sister Betty Lou Howell, 2 sisters- in -law; Bonnie Heldt and Fredia Brown, nieces, nephews, cousins, best friends; Shirley McAnally, John Ereanwalt, and many other friends. Louise graduated from Atlanta High School and went to work at Alexander Hughes Drug Store where she met the love of her life, J.D. Bass, who had just returned from the Navy after serving in WWII on Okinawa. J.D. was hired by a seismograph crew drilling for oil and uranium. They moved frequently throughout the Rocky Mountains and other states that allowed them to enjoy the beauty of God?s creation. They had a beautiful baby boy, Lance, who has grown into a Godfearing man by whom she is survived, along with his sweet red headed wife, Carolyn, and grandson Calan, who called her Grandee, and has given so much joy to their lives. Louise and J.D. were married 51 years. Her husband DeWayne has blessed her by helping her through many surgeries. She has also been blessed mightily through the years by Betty Lou, who she affectionately called Little Sister, especially through the latter years and by talking on the phone every day. Louise accomplished many things. After she and J.D. stopped traveling, they settled in Arlington, Texas. She attended nursing school and had the pleasure of taking care of patients in Med. Surgery and E.R. at Arlington Memorial Hospital and worked for Dr. Cluck at O.B Gyn for 7 years. She taught childbirth classes and started classes at Arlington Memorial Hospital. She learned and taught cake decorating classes. Her niece followed in her footsteps in nursing and cake decorating, which she excelled in far above being imagined. Louise learned and taught ceramics and made beautiful pieces. She loved to sing in the church choir and planned and delivered meals to sick people and for families of the church that lost loved ones. She loved to visit the sick and elderly, deeply loved her Lord, and was not ashamed to tell others about Him. To Lance, Carolyn, Calan, and Betty Lou, you have filled my life with gladness. February 3, 2025 Herman Cecil Bass, ?Sergeant Bass?, age 77, of Hazlehurst passed away with his family gathered at his bedside sharing memories and singing songs of praise on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Meadows Memorial Hospital under the care of Community Hospice. Mr. Bass was born on February 17, 1947 in the Shiloh Community of Wheeler County to the late Cecil and Mattie Bass. He lived most of his life in Hazlehurst and was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School and South Georgia Technical College for diesel mechanics. With a passion for sports, he loved sharing memories of his days as a baseball pitcher with the class D minor league Cardinals. As a member of the United States Army, he actively served as a Sergeant in Vietnam from 1970-1971. After honorable discharge from the military, he worked in the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic, truck driver, and dispatcher, eventually retiring from Williams Brothers Trucking in 2013. He then owned Bass Automotive in Reidsville, Georgia. He was a member of the Hazlehurst Church of God of Prophecy, where we served as a member of the finance committee. Of all the positions he ever held, his most notable were being a soldier of the cross, Daddy, and Papa. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed working in his yard and shop, and telling "tales" to his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Bass. Survivors include his wife Judy Bohannon Bass of Hazlehurst, who stood faithfully by his side as they raised six children, to include: Christy (Sean) Byers of Alpharetta; Tina (Bobby) Brue of Hazlehurst; Jody (Jackie) Bass of Hazlehurst; Shonda (Mark) Campanaro of Jacksonville, FL; Gena (Stephen) Hart of Alston; Kasey (Jesse) Worth of Hazlehurst. His grandchildren include: Carter and Grayson Byers; Caitlin, Emma and Colton Brue; Samantha Bass, Christen Bridges, and Jacie Campbell; Kaleigh Sauls and Aaron Campanaro; Ellie and Maylee Worth; bonus grandson Austin Herndon; and his beloved dog Cash. He is also survived by sisters Joann (T.M. Bridges) of Hazlehurst and Connie Visage of Americus, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services with military honors will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Manning and Brother Kenneth Jump officiating. Special to Daily Times) Christchurch, This Day Considerable interest was taken here in the marriage of Miss Gwendoline, only daughter of Mr. S.K. Bassett, to Mr. E. W. Payton, eldest son of Jr. J. Payton, proprietor of the Wairarapa Daily Times, which was solemnized yesterday afternoon at Holy Trinity Church, Avonside. It was a perfect autumnal day, and the quaint old church, brightened by the Easter decorations, was crowded with a large and fashionable congregation. The bride?s father has resided for twenty-five years at Avonside, and was the founder of the well-known firm of Morrow, Bassett and Co., from which, however, he retired many years ago. As the bride who is very popular, entered the church, she looked very charming in a dress of white crepe de chene, with accordion-pleated frills and Limerick lace, and a flowing Court train, and carrying a lovely bouquet. Orange blossoms and the customary veil completed the picture, and made the bride the cynosure of all eyes. The bridesmaids were Miss Payton, sister of the bridegroom, and Misses the Violet, Lily and Daisy Bassett, cousins of the bride. They were gowned in white, with lace fronts, and wore red chenille mushroom hats. The mother of the bride wore a black silk poplin dress, with bonnet with white chour, and carried a beautiful lavender bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Messrs George and Charles Bassett, of Burnt Hill, brothers of the bride. The ceremony was performed by Arch-deacon Pascoe, the bride being given away by her father. During the ceremony, Mr. H. Wells, organist, Played ?Andante in A? (H. Smart), ?InParadisum? (Dubois), March (Handel), and at the conclusion Mendelssohn?s ?Wedding March.? A large number of invited guests, including Miss M. H. Payton and many relatives and friends of the bride attended the reception after the ceremony at Tyrella, the residence of the bride?s parents, where refreshments were served in a large marquee on the spacious lawn. The health of the bride and bridegroom was felicitously proposed by Archdeacon Pascoe, and was fittingly responded to by the bride-groom, who proposed the toast of the bridesmaids, which was responded to by Mr. Geo. Bassett. Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Payton received a large number of handsome and valuable presents. The bridegroom?s present to the bride was a pearl necklet, and to the bridesmaids pearl pendants. John was born to James Marvin Bass and Aurelia Maxine Jacobs. As the youngest of four children, he brought lots of excitement to their family dynamics. John attended Oklahoma City Public Schools. The last being Crooked Oak Schools. John went on to have many jobs in his lifetime. He performed Tree Services; Construction work; he was a Steel Worker; otherwise, an all-around Jack of All Trades. John?s most important job was his family. John loved his family. With two older sisters, this trio had lots of fun and loads of great memories together. In 1976, John joined the military and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. John became an avid Oklahoma sports fan. Depending on who you talk to, it could be OU, OSU, or even the OKC Thunder. John later met Glenna and moved to Shawnee, where he settled down and raised their two children. For nearly 38 years, John loved attending the Iowa Tribe Pow-Wows and traveling to different places with the tribe and his wife. Living with Glena in Shawnee, this is where he lived for the rest of his life. John is survived by his wife, Glenna of the home; 7 children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Marvene Moore; his stepfather, George Rohla; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. John was preceded in death by his parents, James Marvin Bass and Aurelia Maxine Jacobs-Rohla; his stepmother, Jewel Bass; one infant brother, James Marvin Bass, Jr.; one sister, Tana Karen Nemke; one stepbrother, Timmy Rohla and his wife Kelli; and one great-grandson, Jackson. John was on this earth for 70 years, and he lived his life to the fullest, full of love and family. At an early age, he proved to be outgoing, cheerful, and one who quickly made friends. Dale and his sibling regularly attended church at St. Peters, where they participated in church youth activities. Dale attended school at MacArthur High School until he joined the United States Army, where he served four years and was stationed at Ft. Campbell in Clarksville, TN, as well as Fort Wainwright in Anchorage, AK. Love and Family After leaving the military, Dale met and married Mona in Anchorage, AK where they were together for a few years before the marriage ended. After moving back to Decatur, Dale met and fell in love with Selinda Ross. Out of their love for each other came their beautiful daughter, Kanika Bass. They shared their lives for 27 years. Work Dale worked at Mueller Company for 28 years, where he was a member of USW-7-8388. Dale was loved by many who worked with him and was always available if the union needed him. While employed at Mueller Company, Dale made lifelong friends that filled his life with joy. He was committed to his work and enjoyed being a part of the Mueller Company family. Recreation Dale spent his life as a dedicated father, brother and friend. He enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with his daughter, Kanika whom he was very proud of. He also cared deeply about his brother with him he?d spend hours with on the phone.. He would also travel to Clarksville, TN, to his nephew's home for the holidays so he could spend time with them laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying music. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He looked forward to taking long rides with friends whenever he could. He took great pride in his Harleys, and his bikes brought tremendous pleasure. Dale was loved by many and will be deeply missed. He leaves to mourn his daughter, Kanika Bass, and her mother, Selinda Ross; his brother, Steven Lee Bass, and his wife, Pamela; his nephews, Steven Alexander and Harrison Lee Bass; his cousins, Pauli Carman, Paula Clark and a host of friends and relatives.
