Graveside services will be at 1:30 (MST) Wednesday in Barton Cemetery at Edgewood, N.M., with W.G. Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Bassett was born in Pryor. She married Leslie D. Bassett in 1920 at Estancia, N.M. They lived in Venus, N.M., then moved to nearby Edgewood, where they farmed and ranched for many years. Mr. Bassett died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar in 1957 and Sanford in 1987. After her husband died, Mrs. Bassett moved to Happy, Texas, and lived there for four years. She then moved to Felt, where she lived for 11 years before moving to Cimarron Nursing Home in Boise City. Survivors include a daughter, LaRue Myers of Felt; a son, Bruce Bassett of Happy; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was 79. Mrs. Anderson was born in Salem, Iowa, Dec. 23, 1905, and grew up on her family's farm in Springfield, Mo. She was educated in Springfield schools. She married Earl F. Bassett in Springfield in 1928. The couple came to California and lived in La Mesa until 1959 when Mr. Bassett purchased Napa Automatic Car Wash. Mr. Bassett died in 1966. In June of 1968 she married long-time Napa resident Louis W. "Andy" Anderson, who was a widower. She and Mr. Anderson were married nearly 17 years. Mrs. Anderson's primary interests were her home, her family, and the Church of Christ, of which she was a member. She loved to cook, garden, sew and entertain guests in her home. Survivors include her husband, Louis "Andy" Anderson of Napa; two sons, Jerry F. Bassett of Eugene, Ore., and Donald E. Bassett of Franklin, Tenn., one sister, Gladys Lyons of Springfield, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Donnath Minkler of Exeter, Mildred Davis of Napa, and Jerry Simonson of San Leandro; one stepson, Raymond Buster of Columbus, Neb.; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She taught in elementary school both full-time and as a substitute teacher in California and Oregon; taught at Trend Business College; and retired from the registrar's office at the University of Oregon where she worked as a clerk. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and teaching children's Bible classes. She was a member of the Oregon Genealogical Society as well as a long-time member of the Church of Christ meeting on Coburg Road in Eugene. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Darrell Freeman Bassett and Gregory James Bassett, and a daughter Leanna Cymbala; a brother, Ed Bell; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes Erma Bassett Martin (July 29, 1922 – February 28, 2015) (Picture included) Erma Bassett Martin, of Dixon, was born on July 29, 1922, at Dixon, in Pulaski County, a daughter of Arthur and Beatrice Gertrude (Akley) Collier, and departed this life at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 28, 2015, in the Maries Manor Care Center, Vienna. She had been in failing health and had attained the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 29 days. Mrs. Martin was first united in marriage on September 19, 1940, in the Pisgah Baptist Church near Dixon to Joseph Avery Bassett, and to this union, four children were born. Mr. Bassett preceded his wife in death on May 17, 1986. She was later united in marriage on July 23, 1994, in the Pisgah Baptist Church near Dixon to Clarence Howard Martin. Mr. Martin preceded his wife in death on November 19, 2009. Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by her father, Arthur, on January 9, 1957; her mother, Beatrice, on August 15, 1965; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clay and Grace (Warnol) Collier and an infant brother; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pansy and Ray Martin, and Mabel and Alf Vitzthum. Mrs. Martin had accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age and had followed her Lord in baptism. She was a faithful member of the Pisgah Baptist Church near Dixon and a strong supporter of all the activities and ministries of the church. During her working life, Mrs. Martin had been employed by the Brown Shoe Company in Dixon for a number of years as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Martin include: Two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles J. and Barbara Bassett of Dixon, and Keith D. and Genie Bassett of Sunrise Beach ; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda J. Conover of Dixon, and Laverne and Bruce Stansberry of Independence; six grandchildren, Leasa and David Day of Dixon; Carol and Raymond Helble of Lebanon; Jerry and Belinda Bassett Escondido, California; Billie Conover of Rolla; Christopher Stansberry of Lee’s Summit; and Nicholas Stansberry of Independence; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends. All of the visitation for Mrs. Martin will be held in the Pisgah Baptist Church, 14446 Columbia Road, Dixon, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in the Pisgah Baptist Church, 14446 Columbia Road, Dixon, with Pastor Arthur Gormley, Jr. officiating.
