(Bessette) Seibold, 82, ended her journey on this earth peacefully Sunday, February 9,2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband George Seibold died in 1977. She leaves three daughters: Judith Rust and her husband Neil of CA, Ann Menzone and her husband Vinny of Dudley and Julie Pearson of FLA. A son John Seibold and his wife Diane of Charlton. Two brothers: Dick Bessette of NewMexico and Allen Bessette of Brookfield And 11 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with whom she created many happy memories. She was born in Merrimac, MA, the daughter of Earle T. and Ruth A. (Trull) Bessette. She graduated from Bartlet High School and worked as a Supervisor at the Ethan Allan Furniture Plant retiring in 1997. Judy took great pleasure in traveling and loved the outdoors especially the ocean and the coast of Maine. (Bassett) LaFountain, 77, passed away at home on Sunday February 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis (Skip) LaFountain who died in 2000. She is survived by: four daughters: Brenda Lizotte of Killingly, CT, Judith LePage of Webster, Susan Niles, and her husband Wayne of Hubert, NC, and Terri LaRochelle, and her husband Walter of Dayville, CT, one sister: Carol Garfield of Concord, NH and 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons: William and Scott, her sister Kay and 2 brothers; Robert and William Bassett. Mary was born in Lebanon, NH daughter of the late William and Edith (Duhaime) Bassett on December 26, 1938 and lived here most of her life. She worked at Price Chopper in Webster for many years, and was affectionately known as "Mrs. Claus" by her coworkers and customers. Funeral will be held Fri. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Monroe) Bessette; three sons, including Dr. Robert Bessette of Holden; three daughters; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; two step-great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Along with his wife, Mr. Bessette owned and operated a dairy farm many years, and also operated a roofing business. He later worked for Pervel Industries, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Church, and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, from Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Apostle Church, 10 Railroad Ave. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Barrette and her husband Michael of Whitinsville, Chelsey R. Poulin of Webster, Lindsey M. Poulin of Oxford, 7 grandchildren, Dillon, Brittany, Alex, Barbara, Dante, Jacobe, Aiden, and a great granddaughter Kayla; 2 brothers James S. He was a graduate of Sutton High School, Class of 1967 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a Lance Cpl. during the Vietnam Era. Gary dedicated his life to the Veterans and was working at Vets, Inc. in Shrewsbury as a resident assistant and case worker for the last 3 years. His passion was fishing, cooking, and baseball. In his younger years, he played on local softball leagues and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and nieces. Bessette, 74 KILLINGLY - Adrien Edward Bessette, 74, of 50 Williams St., Danielson died Saturday at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after being stricken at home. He was the tax collector for this town from 1965, adding the Borough of Danielson to his responsibilities in 1975 and serving in the dual posts until 1980, when he retired. He leaves his wife, Rose A. (Barrette) Bessette; a son, Adrien D. Bessette of Danielson; a daughter, Doris B. Bessette of Danielson; and a brother, Bernard Bessette of Brooklyn. Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of Oliver J. and Marie (LaBarre) Bessette. His family moved to Danielson when he was a boy. He majored in public administration, business and finance at the University of Connecticut and University of Hartford. RAN CLOTHING STORE He and his wife ran Shumway's Clothing Store on Main Street for 25 years, from 1947. Mr. Bessette served 20 years with the Army National Guard and was a recruiting officer during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Pachaug Outdoor Club, the Killingly Rifle Club and the Mohegan Rifle League. He was a probation officer for Killingly and a deputy sheriff for Windham County. He was a lieutenant with the fire police of Danielson Fire Department. Mr. Bessette was a former chairman of the Danielson Merchants Bureau and former assistant secrertary of Killingly-Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. He was a former chairman of the legislative committee of Connecticut Tax Collector's Association. He was a former exalted ruler of the Danielson Lodge of Elks and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an usher for St. James Church 32 years. He held the Bronze Pelican Award given by the Diocese of Norwich for 30 years of service to Boy Scouting. FUNERAL SERVICE The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today from Gagnon-Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson with a Mass at 11 in St. James Church, Franklin Street, Danielson. (Bassett) Morang, 81, of Wells Street, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton, where she had worked her first job as a teenager. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Charles "Norman" Morang who died in 2011, and her first husband Adam Joseph Placzek in 1958. She is survived by six children, Thomas Placzek of North Oxford, Donna Placzek-Savage and her husband Tom of California, Katherine Clough of Charlton, Vicki Muzzy and her husband John of Charlton, Sharon Markle and her husband Herb of New York, and Amy Carr and her husband Ted of Leicester; two sisters, Mary Kroeger of Tennessee and Ruth Matheson of New York; 22 grandchildren: Sara (Jim) Moore, Matt Placzek, Kim Placzek; Jill (Matt) Spencer, Joshua Clough; Lindsay (Richard Cavalieri) Morang R.N.; Nicole (Chris) Winn, Noelle (Chef Chance Bear) Markle, Cassandra, Elizabeth, PFC Samuel USMC, Anne-Victoria, Charles, Katherine, Lillian, Lydia and Natalie Markle; Jane (John McNeil) Carr, Nicolas, Benjamin, Abigail and Truman Carr, 6 great grandchildren: Nolan, Ava, Zachary, Adriana, Richie and Derek; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Douglas Clough; and two brothers, Paul and Earl Bassett. She was born in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Francis and Lysle (Miller) Bassett, and lived in Auburn before moving to Rochdale in 1964. She graduated from Charlton High School in 1951. Joan's greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother, not only to those in her family but many others as well. She was known as Grandma Joan at Greenville Baptist Church where she was a member and served faithfully in the nursery, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School as well as attending a Tuesday morning Bible Study. Joan loved to read, and as her vision decreased she listened to many Talking Books. She was always fashionable, and enjoyed shopping and yard saling. There was always coffee in the pot to share with those she loved, especially her other daughter Robbin Seymour. The family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the care, and especially companionship given to Joan during her time at the Overlook. A funeral service will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Greenville Baptist Church, 674 Pleasant St., Rochdale. She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Robert Merriam. She is survived by two children, James Merriam and his wife Linda Merriam of Harwich, and Linda Karellas and her husband Dr. Andrew Karellas of Oro Valley, AZ; four grandchildren, Carrie Marriam LeBlanc, Joshua Merriam, Kristen Sherman, and Heather Karellas; one great-grandson, Mattie Merriam; and two step great-grandchildren, Devin and Riley LeBlanc. She was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Chakuas who died in 1982. She was born in Eden, VT, daughter of the late Ezra and Ada (Bessette) Davis, whose family moved to North Brookfield when Winnie was 6 months old for her parents to run the Town Farm. From there, Winnie's family moved to East Brookfield and in 1942 to Barre, MA. Winnie graduated from Worcester's David Hale Fanning Trade School or "Girl's Trade" in June 1943. Winnie met Bob Merriam while traveling by train to school, and they were married in East Brookfield Baptist Church in July 1943. A year later, she joined Bob, who was stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. After World War II, Winnie and Bob built their home on Merriam District in 1946 and she lived there until Bob's death last October. Mrs. Merriam worked at David Clark Company in Worcester for over 30 years, where she manufactured the link-net for the Gemini and Apollo spacesuits and had the opportunity to meet many of America's first astronauts as they were fitted for their spacesuits. She attended Greenville Baptist Church and North Oxford Baptist Church. Winnie was a member of the Holiday Rambler Trailer Club and the North American Family Camping Association ? Worcester Chapter. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Gore Cemetery in North Oxford. Fahlbeck, 71, passed away March 3, 2019 following complications from cancer. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Susan (Willett) Fahlbeck, his daughter Pamela Fahlbeck, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother Paul DiPilato and his beloved Springer Spaniels Cassie and Brandy. Bob was born December 12, 1947 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Patricia (Bessette) and William Fahlbeck. His roots were in Grafton where he graduated from high school and lived for most of his life. He worked for many years at UPS, Wyman Gordon and Astra Pharmaceuticals where he built many friendships. Later in life he started his own business, B&F Sealcoating, which he ran for 16 years. Away from work he looked forward to bird hunting trips with his friends and beloved dogs at Rutland State Forest and deer and turkey hunting in Royalston and October Mountain. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Salisbury Beach where a cold Bud Light and a campfire with friends made him happiest. Closer to home he could easily be found at the poker table where his friends affectionately called him "Big Gulp", or finding odds and ends at yard sales around town. Bellarosa, 67, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in her residence after being stricken ill. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David F. Sheehan; and their son Christopher J. Sheehan & his companion Katie Zink, of Franklin, NH; her two brothers, John Bellarosa & wife Amanda of Orange; and James Bellarosa of Worcester; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Gail was born in Clinton to the late James & Florence (Bassett) Bellarosa. She graduated from Tahanto Regional High School, Class of 1969, where she excelled in athletics and played varsity basketball for 5 years, joining the team as an 8th grader. Throughout her teen years Gail modeled for the Clinton Dress Shop and was recognized in her senior yearbook as "best dressed." She pursued her passion to work in healthcare and obtained her LPN from Worcester School of Nursing, Class of 1971. Gail was adored by her colleagues and patients throughout her successful career at Clinton Hospital, from where she retired after many years as a surgical nurse. She proudly served as President of the LPN Union for Clinton Hospital and held numerous professional affiliations. Throughout her lifetime, she held a great passion for traveling, cooking, and gardening. She was a lover of all animals, especially her cats. Gail was taken far too soon and will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who had the pleasure to have known her. A private burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Gail's life at 1PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Barber's Crossing Restaurant, 175 Leominster Road, Sterling. Mr. Bassett was an estimate assigner at New England Telephone Co. in Worcester, where he worked for 42 years, retiring recently. He was a member of The Evangelical Congregational Church of Grafton and Electa-Rebekah Lodge of Odd Fellows in North Grafton. Mr. Bassett was a former longtime member and official of Mohegan Council, Boy Scouts of America, in Worcester. Mr. Bessette worked in the maintenance department at St. Mary School, Putnam, for many years until he died. He also worked at St. Mary Church and St. Mary Cemetery. He previously worked at Colt's Plastics and Prym Co., both in Dayville, and InteRoyal, Plainfield. He was a member of Irish-American Club, Putnam, and several area French clubs. The funeral will be held tomorrow from Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Born in Worcester and raised in Princeton, Gale was the daughter of the late Harold and Louise (Wilson) Paulson. Gale had a passion for the ocean. She enjoyed sportfishing in the warm waters of Key West, Florida as well as walking along the shore in the cooler waters of York, Maine. She was an avid reader, and you would often find her with a book in hand. She was an outgoing person, always ready to lend a helping hand. She often volunteered her time to help prepare taxes for the elderly in Leominster, Rutland and Holden. Gale was a skilled paralegal and enjoyed working for Bennet & Forts in Holden for many years. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 47 years, David Bassett of Princeton and her close friends, Abbie Lampula of Jaffrey, NH and David "D.J" Johnson of Princeton, MA, who were like children to her throughout the years; along with many other friends and family members. (Hanson) Bassett, a longtime Northborough resident, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 11, 2020; she was 85 years old. Anne was the devoted wife of 62 years to Roland J. Bassett until Roland's passing in 2018. Anne was born in Marlborough, the daughter to the late Wilrose and Stella (Houde) Hanson. She graduated from the former Vesper George Art School in Boston and, as a talented artist, oversaw her company, Bassett Stained Glass. Her beautiful creations have touched many people's lives for over 50 years. Anne enjoyed the ocean and visiting Cape Cod with her beloved family. With a kind soul and compassion for others, Anne was always there for friends and family; she truly made you feel loved and accepted. Anne was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Parish. Anne is survived by her children, Jeanne Kowal of Berlin, Mary Walter of Southborough, Paula Kapurch of Northborough, and Roland Bassett, Jr. of Worcester; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A wonderfully loving mother, she is also survived by her four children Amy (Bessette) Mortimer, Patrick Bessette, Andre Bessette, Julie (Bessette) Proctor, their spouses, and her ten grandchildren with whom she was affectionately known as Mémé. June was born in Worcester, MA on July 13, 1942. She grew up in the Vernon Hill and later Tatnuck Square neighborhoods. She attended St Mary's Schools and then St Vincent's Nursing School. She later earned a scholarship to attend Boston College Nurse School where she received her Bachelors of Nursing degree. June and Patrick married on September 17, 1966 at Christ the King Church in Worcester. June went on to become a member of the Visiting Nurse Association of Worcester for many years along with raising 4 children in Paxton. She later became active in the hospice programs for both the Worcester and Cape Cod communities. June was a pioneer in the use of massage therapy for hospice and won a state grant to establish the hospice massage therapy program at UMASS Memorial. She was a loving and dedicated care taker as a licensed massage and reiki therapist and used those skills to aid the sick and suffering. As a very active member of the parish of the Lady of the Cape, June also volunteered regularly at the church Thrift Shop. In retirement, June loved to ski at Mt Wachusett and play tennis on Cape Cod for as long as she could. Gertrude once lived in Goldfield, Iowa for 5 years. She enjoyed lots of traveling while there, visiting the presidents' birthplaces and libraries, among other civil war battlefields, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore and other historic places throughout the Midwest. Gertrude also enjoyed baking, reading and knitting. She was a longtime member of St. Josephs Church in North Brookfield. Although my cancer is incompatible with life, I am not prepared or ready to go. I have tried to live every moment I have been given on this earth, and so appreciate the "extra moments" I have somehow been given. There is still so much I want to do. I want to grow old with my best friend and husband, Larry, enjoying our time talking, traveling and spending time with our children and grandchildren. I want to be with my family for all of the events in their lives, as well as the challenges. I want to watch my children and grandchildren grow up. I want to attend their functions and be part of their lives. But I am so happy to have lived to help plan my daughter's wedding on July 20, 2013. I am amazed that my desire to participate in this wonderful celebration somehow gave me the strength to do so. I do not leave this earth peacefully, but reluctantly. I did not battle with cancer, but tried to overcome it with good living, good thoughts, good treatments and a good oncology team. I am grateful for friends and family who have been so supportive and kind. I feel your love and appreciate all that you have done for me. I grew up in Grafton, MA, the oldest child of Howard and Mary (Fleming) Bassett, both of whom died too young. I attended Grafton Schools and then Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. I was lucky to have chosen nursing as my profession. That choice saved my life when in 1970, my nursing school chest X-ray revealed what was soon diagnosed as Hodgkin's Disease. Because of that early discovery, I was cured of that cancer and was able to work 40 years as an RN, and later earn a BS and an MS at Worcester State College. Being cured of cancer also allowed me my greatest achievement: to have 5 beautiful, wonderful and healthy children. My family is the joy of my life. While married to Richard M Toomey, we had 3 daughters. Merideth Toomey is now an RN, and with Nicholas Milionis, parents of my 2 grandchildren: Molly Jean Milionis (who loves to sing) and Sidney Iris Milionis (who loves to read and write). They live close by in Worcester. Pamela Toomey Hart married Tim Hart on July 20, 2013. They live in a unique log home in Hubbardston, MA with 3 rescued pit bulls, chickens and plans for a small farm. Pam is currently attending Boston College for her MS in Social Work and working as case manager for her fellow veterans. Joanna Toomey lives in Worcester and is happily utilizing her degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations at the BBB. In 1994 I married Lawrence R Whiting, MD. We bought a big, old house in the Tatnuck area of Worcester that needed much more than "a little work". We have spent the last 20 years together fixing up that house and raising our two children together with my first three. Elizabeth Whiting is currently studying to become an RN at Worcester State University after spending 2 years at the University of Delaware. Jonathan Whiting graduated from Doherty HS in 2013 and will attend the University of Lowell majoring in Electrical Engineering. He is an accomplished guitarist. Our family also includes our dogs, Dozer and Tiger Lily, full of unconditional love and warmth, and a sweet kitten named Clara. Larry and I are grateful that we decided to travel with the children while they were young. We have made indelible memories of Nice, Paris, Rome, London, Amsterdam, the Caribbean and many National Parks in the US. We also enjoyed spending time at New Hampshire lakes with family and friends boating, water skiing, hiking, singing and eating around campfires. I have always felt especially bonded and loving towards my siblings as our mother died when we were young. I wish I had been able to fill the hole left in our lives due to our mother's early death. My youngest brother, John Bassett and his wife Deb live in South Grafton. Howard D Bassett Jr and his wife Theo live in Keene, NH. Their daughter, Megan lives in Hinsdale, NH. My sister Martha Bassett lives in Ware, MA with her friend David Robinson. Cynthia Bassett Maurer and her husband Eric live in Holt, MO with their sons, James and Aaron. I think of all of Larry's sisters as my true "sisters" more than just sisters-in-law. Carolyn Whiting lives in Reading, MA, Joanne Fortin lives in Westfield, MA and Barbara Whiting Drew and her husband Scott live in Newtown, PA with their children Lauren and Jeffrey. Thank you so much for your acceptance, love and support of me. I am a 43 year survivor of cancer, not a victim. Despite the fact that I again have cancer, my long survival is miraculous. Cancer certainly challenges a person, their family and their friends, but it also gives us a chance to think about what is important, the way we want to live, and the message we want to give. It allows you to say I love you to a wider circle of friends, and to say I love you more often to family. Many friends and family have gone to great effort to gather to celebrate life with me. I so appreciate your delicious food, flowers, enjoyable get-togethers and your sharing of stories and love. What a gift! You are my gift! My moments of joy. Leona ?Lee? leaves seven children; Dorothy Stone and husband Bradford of Holden, Susan Mesale and her husband John ?Jack? of Shrewsbury, Christine Hamm and her husband Joseph of Rochdale, George E. III and his partner Lisa of Shrewsbury, Kevin and his wife Marie of Clearwater Beach, Florida, Patricia Bergeron and her husband James of Spencer, and James and his wife Jennifer of Boylston. She also leaves twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her older sister, Lorraine of Holden. Leona was predeceased by her husband, of fifty-six years, George ?Smitty? in 2007. Born in Spencer, MA in 1927 to Valmore and Dorothy (Bassett) St. Dennis, she attended Spencer Public Schools until her high school years, when she attended Nicolet, a private Catholic school in Quebec, Canada. Leona then went on to graduate from St. Vincent?s School of Nursing in Worcester, MA. Leona was a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Vincent?s Hospital and Belmont Nursing Home throughout her career. Throughout Leona?s lifetime, she always enjoyed staying active, through her gardening, sweeping the streets, mowing the lawn, line dancing, and love for family vacations to Hampton Beach. She especially loved all her wonderful friends at the Old Colony Apartments, including playing cards and dominoes with them. Above all, Leona was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always the ?go-to? mother for the neighborhood whenever someone was sick. Lauri Anderson and Rick Jablonski especially owe their lives from when she saved them from choking. Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, her funeral service will be held privately at St. John?s Cemetery in Worcester, MA. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of UMASS Medical Center for their kindness and compassion throughout this difficult time. Lyman, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 under the loving care of his family and the dedicated staff at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester, after a brief illness. Ray was born in Holden, the son of Clarence R. and Doris (Bassett) Lyman, and was a lifelong resident of Holden. He was a member of the first graduating class of Wachusett Regional High School in 1955. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years, member of the 1365th Photographic Squadron. Upon completion of his military service, Ray was a truck driver for Holden Heating Co. and R.J. Paquette Construction, retiring in 2010. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Ray leaves his wife of 54 years, Carole C. (Taylor) Lyman; four daughters, Cheryl M. Fikucki and her husband, Mark of Worcester, Cathy E. Benoit and her husband, Richard and Charlene A. Lyman, all of Holden; and Carol C. Lyman of Baldwinville; a sister, Joyce Burnett and her husband, William of Barre; five grandchildren, Phillip and Jacqueline Fikucki, Brittany and Jonathan Benoit, Hannah Pavini and Elisabeth (Pavini) Walsh. A sister, Tina Forget predeceased him. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ray's family from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Ralph was born to parents Alvin Gale and Theresa Gale (Bessette) on June 6th,1960 in Worcester. He grew up the 4th child out of 5. He attended Worcester Vocational Technical High School and graduated in June 1978 as a Machinist. He grew up in Spencer. He also lived in Rochester N.Y. (10 yrs.) And Fayetteville N.C. (7 yrs.) Ralph is survived by his daughter Trisha Gale; his sons Shawn Gale and wife Barbra Gale, Joshua Gale, Jonathan Gale (Baby JonJon); his sister Nora Whitney; his brothers Bruce Gale, Timothy Gale and his son Justin. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; 1 niece, 5 nephew's and many friends. He is preceded in death by his sister April Gale and his parents Alvin and Theresa Gale. He was employed at Reed's in Ma. and Good Year in N.C. He loved Hampton Beach, sun tanning, playing and coaching basketball, playing softball, fishing, wrestling, gardening, dogs, and making his home made spaghetti sauce. But most of all he loved to make people smile. He always made it a good time. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and had a special bond with each one of them. He absolutely loved the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a true fan. A service will be held at the Spencer Fish and Game December 16th 2017 from 1pm-5pm to honor the day of his sister April's passing as well. Lorraine leaves six children: Stephen Mann (Jane) of Brooksville, FL, Martha Mann (Roger Mellgren) of Arlington, TX, Beth Hesselton of St. Petersburg, FL, Barbara Mann of Spencer, MA, John Mann of Charlton, MA, and Timothy Mann (Laurie) of Gilbertville, MA. She also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family, friends and her loving care givers from Holden Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was predeceased by her sister, Leona (St. Denis) Smith of Holden and Worcester, MA and her former husband of 30 years Ray (Mangaudis) Mann. Lorraine was born on 20 Main St. in Spencer, MA on March 7, 1925; daughter of Dorothy (Bassett) and Valmore St. Denis. After the delivery, 'Doc' Brown, the attending physician, went home to bring his wife to see the 10 pound baby he had helped deliver. Lorraine attended St. Mary's School in Spencer. Then went on to graduate as valedictorian from Nicolet in Quebec, Canada. After completing a U.S. English class she was enrolled in training at St. Vincent's Hospital and became a registered nurse. Lorraine's employment included St Vincent's and Worcester City Hospitals, Lincoln Hill Manor Nursing Home in Spencer; Director of Nurses at Coventry Hall Nursing Home in Spencer and Clark Manor Nursing Home in Worcester. After returning to college in the 1970s Lorraine's nursing focus became mental health. She went on to work at Worcester State Hospital and retired from the State of Massachusetts as a Community Mental Health nurse. Over the years Lorraine volunteered for the March of Dimes and Girl Scouts of America; taught CCD at Holy Rosary Church in Spencer and people to read at the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester (www.lvgw.org), and was once the charter medical representative to the MA medical volunteer group of AARP. Lorraine enjoyed traveling to Europe, cruising the Caribbean, reading, politics, the arts, music, theatre, ballroom dancing, being near the water, taking a college class in philosophy, psychology and the like...as one of her nieces put it "Aunt Lorraine always had her nose in a book." Lorraine loved giving advice and helping people. Mostly, she loved being with her family and friends. No Services are scheduled. "Clem" Bessette, 75, of Worcester died Saturday, October 5th surrounded by his loving family in Radius Health Care Center. He leaves his wife, Patricia D. (McManus) Bessette with whom he would have celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary with on October 11th. He also leaves two daughters, Tracy L. Mannila of Worcester and Susan E. Bessette of Boylston; three brothers, Nelson Bessette of Colorado, Patrick Bessette of Brewster and Armand Bessette of Charlton; five grandchildren, Kayla, Cody and Chase Mannila, Kevin and Zachary Murnane and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his only son, Steven M. Bessette who died in 2002 at the age of 41. Mr. Bessette was born in Worcester the son of Armand and Juliette (Lessard) Bessette. Clem worked for 39 years at Wyman Gordon in the Forge Shop in North Grafton and also spent some time in the Titanium Plant in Millbury. Joseph was a member of Christ the King Church. His funeral is Thursday, October 10th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Bessette) Brooks, Anne (Borsari) Brooks and Arline (Pelletier) Brooks. He is survived by his three sons, David J. Brooks and his wife, Rebecca of Haydenville, Albert L. Brooks and his wife, Sharon of Worcester and J. Dean Brooks and his wife, Jean of Rutland; two daughters, Diana M. Nickerson and her husband, Steve of Brookfield and Dawn Marie Warren of Wareham; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren a great-great grandson and many nephews and nieces. He also leaves dear friends and caretakers, Myrtle and Harry Johnson, without whom his wish to stay at home would not have been realized. Ray was predeceased by his son, Raymond E. Brooks, Jr.; and eight brothers and two sisters. He was born in Lyndonville, VT the son of Adolphus and Josephine (Sheltra) Brooks. Mr. Brooks had been a carpenter and had owned and operated Raymond Brooks, Inc. for many years before retiring. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Ray had served as past commander of American Legion Post 288 and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus.
