Obituary
Mrs. Mary Bassett
Mary Bassett, widow of the late Albertus Bassett and almost a life-long resident of Chittenango, died at her home here Sunday night, April 12th at 11:20 o?clock. Mrs. Bassett was born at Syracuse, January 18, 1844, the daughter of David Soper and Eliza Butler Soper. On December 4, 1872 she married Albertus Bassett at Cazenovia. He has been dead a number of years. Mrs. Bassett was a quiet, home-loving woman devoted to her family and particularly interested in and loyal to the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she was a devout member. Mrs. Bassett is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Morris of this village and a step-daughter, Mrs. Ezra Burton of Cazenovia; also by two sisters, Mrs. James Minor of DeRuyter, and Mrs. T.E. Melville of Macon, Ga., and a brother, John W. Soper of this village, with whom she had made her home. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon and were private. Rev. E.S. Bardwell, pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was made in Oakwood.
