| Notes |
- Almon is almost certainly descended from the Daniel Bassett (#639.7) family in some way. In the 1860 census, he shows with Roda Hutchens, daughter of Daniel Bassett. Amanda and Mariah Bassett are also daughters of Daniel Bassett. Alman would most likely be a great-grandson of Daniel.
From the 1870 census, Ansalinda and Maria are probably these same two daughters, Amanda and Mariah, but the ages are not consistent.
From the 1880 census, we find Almon living near Sylvanus Bassett and Horace Bassett. Horace is the son of Asa Bassett, and grandson of Daniel Bassett. Sylvanus is the son of Alfred Bassett, grandson of Asa Bassett, and great-grandson of Daniel Bassett.
My current theory is that Alman is a son of Asa Edda Bassett and his first wife Emeline Adeline Williamson. She died in 1857. Asa remarried Emeline's sister, Saray Lyman Williamson in 1859. That would put Almon living next door to his father and step-mother in the 1870 census, living with two of his aunts. See information on Asa below.

Almon L. Bassett Died Jan. 26, 1893, Aged 41 Y'rs. Killed by the Cars at Tupper's Lake.
Daughter Ida Bassett, 1884-1936.
The Gazette, Malone, Friday. 3 Feb 1893
A.L. Bassett, a freight brakeman on the Adirondack & St. Lawrence line between Malone and Tupper Lake, was instantly killed at the latter place on Thursday of last week while shifting cars. The unfortunate men stood on the pilot of the engine which was pushing a car up the siding. When the cars came together the shcok broke the coupling of the engine and single car, throwing the brakeman against the car with great violence. Both legs were terribly mangled and he suffered other injuries of a fatal character. He was taken to his home some three miles north of Malone where funeral services were held on Sunday, being laregely attended by employes of the road, with whom the ceased was deservedly popular. His age was 38 years and a wife and three children are left to mourn the loss of a husband and indulgent father. This sad death is the first on any of the trains of the A. & St. L. since the line was opened.
