Rodger Bass
Rodger D. Bass, 65, of Hampton, formerly of the Peoria area, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Salem Village in Joliet.
Born Oct. 4, 1931, in LaRose to Harold and Edna Kamp Bass, he married Sharon Short on may 24, 1959, in Hampton Township, Rock Island County. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Michael of Colona; one daughter, Lisa Bass-Larson of Silvis; one sister, Mrs. Jerry (Phyllis) Prunty of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three brothers, Russell Bass of Morton, Henry Bass of East Peoria and Dr. Buford Bass of Normal; and seven grandchildren.
He was a hearing officer for the Illinois Secretary of State?s Office. He worked for the former Deere & Co. Spreader Works and Deere Harvester. He retired in 1987 from John Deere parts department in Milan after 23 years. He farmed in Zuma Township, Rock Island County, for 28 years.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Port Byron, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gibson Funeral Home in Port Byron. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery in Hampton Township. Memorials may be made to his church.
