      Garr Don Bass
      January 18, 1954 ? August 16, 2017

On August 16, 2017 Mr. Garry Don Bass of Mafeking, Manitoba, formerly of Birch River, Manitoba passed away with his wife, Lynn at his side at the age of 63 years.
Garry was born on January 18, 1954 in Birch River, to William and Jean Bass. Garry was the youngest of eight children. He attended Steele School and Birch River. Birch River School was where he met the love of his life, Lynn Graham. At an early age Garry enjoyed hunting and trapping with his dad. This turned into a life-long passion until the time came that he no longer could do it anymore. Garry married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Graham at a very young age, on May 5, 1973. Their first child, Tammy Lynn was born on October 1, 1975. Then a few years later another daughter came along, Jayme Sheila Dawn on April 30, 1979. "Finally" a son to carry on the Bass name, Wayne Reginald William was born, on February 25, 1987. This completed their family until the kids were married, and then followed the grandchildren.
Garry was a very busy man and was never scared to try something new. He started out driving school bus for Lynn's grandfather. The following year he took over the business and joined Frontier School Division. He found much pleasure in farming, which included cattle and his laying hens. He went into the logging business and did that for many years. In the mid 90s he established Steeprock River Outfitting which turned his passion into a business. Garry and Lynn took over the Mafeking Taxi for a number of years as well.
Throughout Garry's life, he enjoyed his family, often having a daughter, son or grandchildren on his lap or sitting on the table in front of him drinking his ice water. Garry accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savour in October of 1986, and enjoyed the fellowship and singing with his Bible Study Group. He loved picking berries and eating more in the patch than what went into his pail. He will be remembered for his winning smile, smart remarks, love for the outdoors, and deep love for his family. Garry is deeply loved and missed by his family and friends. We take comfort in the fact that Garry is at peace in Heaven with Jesus, and we look forward to seeing him again someday soon.
Garry will be deeply missed and remembered by his loving wife Lynn Bass, three children, Tammy Ricks (Marc) of Waxahachie, Texas, Jayme Legebokoff (Joseph) of Durban, Manitoba, and Wayne Bass (Ricki - Lea) of Swan River, Manitoba, twelve grandchildren, David, Isaac and Emilynn Ricks, Morgen, Trinidy, Corbin, Katana, and Raiden Legebokoff, Carter, Taylor, Chase and Javan Bass; eleven nieces and nephews, brother Glen Bass (Esther) of Birch River, sisters Darlene Bronconnier of Swan River, Dorothy Johnston of Birch River, and Janice Brower (Wally) of Melfort, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Jean Bass, brothers Leonard Bass, Ken Bass, Gordon Bass, nieces Brenda Galbraith, Rhonda Forth, Wendy Lyon, Becky Lyon, nephew Lee Johnston, and brother in law Robert Johnston.
