      Mrs. J. M. Bassett

      Mrs. J.M. Bassett, 33 years old, died at 3:30 o’clock Tuesday night at her home, 304 Broad street, Girard, after an illness of thirteen months. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Miss Helen bassett, a brother, J.S. land, of Phenix City, and a sister,, Mrs. Minnie R?ey, of Columbus. She was a member of the Girard Baptist church. Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 10 o’clock Thursday morning.

      A letter to Julia Ethelinda Staples from her father Harrison Staples dated November 17th 1878. The letter was sent to Carol Lincoln from Uncle Ralph Basset on June 11, 1980. He had received it from Hollis Blackburn who sent it to him on January 8, 1979. Hollis apparently found it in a family Bible.

      Mrs. J.M. Bassett

      The funeral of Mrs. J.M. Bassett took place from the residence, 306 Broad street, Girard, at 10 o’clock this morning. The services were largely attended and were conducted by Rev. A. V Pickren, of the Phenix City First Baptist church.
      The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers; J.R. Griggs, R.F. Hollar, J.F. Delvin, J.W. Wilson, Chas. Riddle, C.H. Webb. The interment took place at Girard cemetery.
