  Notes	The Day, July 23, 2002 Rita Asher Ledyar – Rita (Bessette) Asher, 83, of 13 River Drive, Gales Ferry, died March 17 at Bridebrook Health Care in East Lynne. Born in West Warren, Mass., on March 15, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Josephine (Benoit) Bessette. She was last employed as a waitress in restaurants in the area. Rita was a member of the Gales Ferry Senior Citizens, and a life member of the Gales Ferry N.R.A. On March 14, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jenneth J. Asher, who died in May 1973. She was also predeceased by a son, Robert L. Covert. Surviving are two daughters, Roberta A. Covert of Lady Lakes, Fla, and Irene R. Shreve of Shallotte, N.C.; a brother, Alfred Bessette of Colorado; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and newphews. Interment of her cremains will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Ave., Norwich. There is no visitation. Please omit flowers, as it is her request that donations be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements by the Labenski Funeral Home.
