Dr. John H. Kenny, Page 305
Dr. John H. Kenny, dental surgeon, of Paducah, Ky., was born July 15, 1842, in the city of Brooklyn, N.Y. where he was chiefly educated. He is a son of Michael and Mary (Harvey) Kenny, both of whom were of Irish birth. In 1854, being then twelve years old, John H. was brought to Kentucky by his father, his mother having died. The father located in the city of Louisville, where John H. attained his majority, studying his profession under Dr. John Leatherman of that city. He began his practice in Hardinsburg, Ky., where he remained until moving to the city of Paducah, in 1871. Being skillful in his profession and a true gentleman he soon secured a large practice, and became one of the substantial elements in the prefessional arena at Paducah. Dr. Kenny was married in 1871, in Cloverport, Breckinridge Co., Ky. to Miss Mary Bassett, daughter of James Bassett a prominent citizen of that county. Dr. Kenny and wife are members of the Catholic Church.
