Carmen M. Bessette
SOUTHBURY - Carmen M. Bessette, 90, passed away at her home Friday, March 3, 2023. She was the wife of the late Robert Bessette.
Carmen was born Oct. 26, 1932 in Chandler, Quebec, Canada, to the late Josue and Emilie LaBalanc. In the late 1940s she immigrated to the U.S. to live with her aunt, where she attended St. Anne's and Waterbury Catholic High School, where she graduated with honors. She then attended and graduated from secretarial school in Montreal, Quebec.
Carmen worked for many years as the office manager at Connecticut Die Cutting Services. Along with her late husband, she was a longtime member of the Waterbury Elks Club. Carmen had a wonderful sense of humor and was always up for a good laugh.
Carmen is survived by her loving son Kenneth and his loving and dedicated wife Victoria Semple; her daughter Roberta Bessette and her husband Joe Cicio, of Florida, and her children, Jake and Josh and their wives, and great-grandchildren; her sister Doris Adamski of Quebec, and her sister Fernand Parise of Sudbury, Canada.
She was predeceased by her son, Gary Bessette, who left her with three wonderful grandchildren, Amanda, Mitchell and Drew, their spouses and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 15, 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown, followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carmen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org/donate).
