Mrs. Bassett Is Called By Death
County Rest Room Hostess Dies After 2 Weeks? Illness
Mrs. Hattie M. Tabb Bassett, 69, 367 south Broadway, wife of Fred W. Bassett, widely known traveling man, and for 15 years the hostess of the Fayette county women?s rest room in the court house, died at 1:45 o?clock this afternoon at Good Samaritan hospital, where she had been ill for two weeks of streptococcic infection.
Mrs. Bassett was a native of Dover, but, with her husband, had resided in Lexington for nearly 20 years. Mr. Bassett is connected with W.T. Sistrunk and Company and has wide acquaintance in central and eastern Kentucky.
As custodian of the county reset room, Mrs. Bassett was widely known and liked. Had she lived until next March 31, she and Mr. Bassett would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. She was born Feb. 16, 1865, a daughter of the late W.E. and Mary Metcalf Tabb.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Bassett is survived by one son, A. Tabb Bassett, Atlanta, Ga., and one brother, I.F. Tabb, Mt. Sterling.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bassett will be held at 2:30 o?clock Saturday afternoon at the W.R. Wilward funeral home on north Broadway. Dr. George Ragland, pastor of the First Baptist Church, of which she was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Lexington cemetery.
