Kenneth Earl Bass
Beloved son, husband and brother Kenneth Earl Bass passed away on February 11 after battling MDS. An avid sailor and member of the Lions Club for more than 50 years, Ken was a longtime resident of Innerarity Island in Perdido Key, having built the fourth house on the island in 1976.
Born in Dothan, Alabama, his family then moved to Pensacola when Ken was three. A proud graduate of Pensacola High School (class of '57) and then of Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering, Ken worked for several years in the defense industry in California before returning to Pensacola to head up Bass Furniture with his brother Larry after his father's retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ruby and first wife Marilynn, and survived by his second wife Fran Burgess Bass, as well as his sister Lynne Lovoy and brother Larry Bass, and innumerable stepchildren and grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces, all of whom will miss "Papa Ken". Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan, Taylor and Hunter Wells, Thomas Andrew Lovoy, Jon Bass Lovoy and Joseph Steven Lovoy.
Services are planned for Saturday, February 17 at 12:30 for visitation and 1pm for the celebration of life, followed by a brief graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ken's name to the local Lions Club Eye Clinic serving Escambia County residents at westerngatewaylionsclub.org or to the Innerarity Island feral cat spay and neuter program in honor of his family's two cats - Bandit and Smoky.
