North Providence ? Rene Bessette
RENE BESSETTE, 73, of Meadowview Boulevard, a Providence Police officer for 20 years before retiring in 1965, died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of the late Teresa (Quaglieri) Bessette.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Rene and Mary (Ryan) Bessette, he had lived in Providence before moving to North Providence 20 years ago. Mr. Bessette was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, Providence.
He leaves three sisters, Beatrice Egan of Pawtucket, Elizabeth Marshall and Barbara DiPaola, both of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Ann Church, Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
