She was the wife of Rene C. Bessette Sr. Born in Attleboro, Mass., a daughter of the late Carl and Marie (Perron) Prince, she lived in Cumberland for 48 years. Mrs. Bessette was a communicant of St. Aidan Church. Besides her husband she leaves three sons, Rene C. Bessette Jr., Edward, and William Bessette, all of Cumberland; seven daughters, Barbara Hemond of Cumberland, Dianne Lavallee of Manville, Carol Handy of Lincoln, Linda Zaleski of Huntington Beach, Calif., Peggy Roswell of Santa Monica, Calif., Maryanne Foley of Astoria, N.Y., and Elizabeth Salisbury of Pawtucket; a brother, William Prince of Riverside; two sisters, Shirley Naill of Edgewater, Fla., and Ida Cork of Melbourne, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd., Route 122, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Aidan Church, Colonial Avenue. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
