Gary Bass Sr.
WINNSBORO ? Services for Gary Franklin Bass Sr., 93, will be held Monday, 3 p.m. at Stephen Green Baptist Church, with burial in First Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Taylor Wells will officiate. Visitation will be tonight 6-8 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Richard Winn Academy, Stephen Green Baptist Church Building Fund, or the Shriners Hospital. Active pallbearers will be Gary Franklin Bass III, Lunceford Lewis Bass, Gene Wesley Bass Jr., James Marion Bass, Duncan Wright Tyson, Tommy Carl Wilkes and Ronald Allen Bell.
Mr. Bass died Feb. 24. Born in Richland County, he was the son of the late Henry K. and Sallie Irene Roberts Bass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Madora Fields Bass. He was a former Fairfield County Game Warden, and former Fairfield County Road Supervisor. He was also a businessman, having been engaged in the restaurant business and farming. He was a member of Frantazia Unit of Jamil Shrine Temple, Winnsboro Masonic Lodge No. 11, Stephen Green Baptist Church, and the Men?s Bible Class No. 1.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Bass Pope-Haizlip of Winnsboro; son, Gene Wesley Bass Sr. of Winnsboro; sisters, Sarah Pearl Albert of Topeka, Kansas, Carrie Hood of Blythewood; seven grandchildren, Gary Franklin Bass III, Lunceford Lewis Bass, Gene Wesley Bass Jr., James Marion Bass, Eugenie Pope Tyson, Connie Pope Wilkes, and Joyce C. Pope Bell; and eight great-grandchildren.
