Milton Bass
Bass, Milton May 28, 2003, age 83, of complications of Parkinson's. Native Milwaukeean, survived by beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy (Kahn) Bass, loving children Liz, Sue, and Jon. Devoted sister of Geraldine (Arthur) Schmidman. Preceded in death by parents, Fannie and Harry Bass and brother, Jerome Bass. Further survived by other family and friends. Milt graduated from Washington High School in 1937 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving first to study language at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and later as a teletype operator in France. After his discharge in 1946, Milt rejoined his father at Bass Brothers, Inc., a scrap metal and paper recycling firm which he operated until his retirement in 1988. Milt was a kind, compassionate and generous person who was the consummate family man. Music and playing piano held a special place in his heart and in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his gentle nature and for his grace during his long bout with Parkinson's. He was involved in numerous charitable endeavors. Former member of Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, Congregation Anshe Sfard, and Brynwood Country Club. The family thanks the many kind and caring staff members of the Milwaukee Jewish Home and our special friend Linda Rice. Graveside services will be held for family and friends at Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave. on Friday, May 30, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J.
