Cora H. Bassett, 97, of Stevenson St., Fremont, died Saturday at Bellevue Care Center. She had lived in Traverse, Fla., and Tampa, Fla., since 1963. She was born August 28, 1910 in Bellevue, Ohio to Francis and Emma (Kemmery) Snyder. She married Abe Bassett and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2002. Cora worked for Howard Zink as a seamstress, Erie Proofing Grounds and was also a homemaker.
Cora is survived by her children, Marjorie Kuns, Fremont, Ohio, John (Janice) Weaver, Fremont, Ohio, James (Judy) Weaver, Columbus, Ohio, Janet (Mike) Vollmar, Bellevue, Ohio, Bruce Weaver, Canton, GA and Thomas Nickels, Fla., 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Abe Bassett, brother, Ralph Snyder, sisters, Alverta Gries and Lillian Elenbass and grandson, Robert Raifsnider.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.8, 2008 at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, Ohio.
Service: 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home following the visitation.
Burial: Lakeside Memory Gardens in Mt. Dora, Fla., at a later date.
Memorials: St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
