Richard Eugene Sandlin
Nashville, NC
Richard Eugene Sandlin, 67, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017. He was born in New Hanover County on December 16, 1949 to the late Eddie Eugene and Willie Mae Stallings Sandlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Bassett Sandlin and a sister, Mary Lou S. Wilkins.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Richard retired from Bass Electric Co., Inc. after 39 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Yankees play, playing pool with family and friends and was a big NASCAR and Pittsburg fan.
Richard was a loving father, grandpa, brother and friend who will be missed, but never forgotten. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son Richard E. Sandlin, Jr.; daughter, Stephanie L. Sandlin; grandson, Dylan Sandlin; sisters Janice S. Bass (Billy), Patricia S. Martin (James) and brother in law, Knox Wilkins. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Price officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
