Jay was born in Albany and graduated from Worth County High School in 2000. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Bass, Jr. ?Billy?, grandparents, J. W. and Nadine Bass, and Guyton and Ruth Smith.
Jay is survived by his mother: Ruby S. Hopper, Newport News, VA; daughter: Jayla Bass, Baconton, GA; son: Hunter Bass, Crystal Springs, FL; sister: Michelle Wiegand, Newport News, VA; brother: John Michael Bass, Sylvester; partner: Lacey Harpe, Worth County; 4 nieces: Chastity Gosa, Worth County, Mara Simpson, Newport News, VA, Kimber Bass, Sylvester, Kaylee Bass, Sylvester; 3 great nieces.
