Lloyd C. Bassett – H. Lucille Bassett
LaGrange – Double services for Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd C. Bassett, Rt. 5, Sturgis, who died from injuries suffered at 6 P.M. Saturday in a headon collision on M-66, two miles north of Sturgis, will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday in the Frurip Funeral Home in LaGrange.
The Rev. Charles Luhn, pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Sturgis, will officiate. Burial will take place in the English Prairie, east of LaGrange.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bassett died at 5:30 P.M. Sunday in Sturgis Hospital, and Mr. Bassett died at 2:30 P.M. Monday in the same hospital. Neither regained consciousness following the accident.
Mr. Bassett was born Oct. 23, 1893, in LaGrange County, Ind., the son of Orlando and Rosa (Gross) Bassett. He and Mrs. Bassett, the former Lucille Faust, were married Dec. 23, 1914, in South Milford, LaGrange County.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Velma Vost of Ft. Wayne.
Mr. and Mrs. Bassett also are survived by two daughters, Mrs. Otis (Eileene) Lint of St. Joseph, Mich., and Mrs. John (Jonnita) Summey, Rt. 3, Sturgis; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Bassett leaves one sister, Mrs. Clarence Seaney of LaGrange, and three brothers, Maynard Faust of Sturgis; Johnny Faust of Florida, and Kenneth Faust of Markle, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Bassett were members of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Sturgis.

LaGrange: Mrs. H. Lucille Bassett, 76, Rt. 5, Sturgis, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Sturgis Hospital from injuries suffered at about 6 p.m. Saturday in a head-on collision on M-66, a mile and a half north of Sturgis.
Mrs. Bassett was born March 21, 1895, in LaGrange County, a daughter of Daniel and Clara (Weiss) Faust.
She was married to Lloyd Bassett, Dec. 23, 1915, in South Milford, LaGrange County. They lived at Brushy Prairie, east of LaGrange, until they moved to Sturgis 30 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, who remains in grave condition in Sturgis Hospital from injuries received in the accident; two daughters, Mrs. Otis (Eileene) Lint of St. Joseph, Mich., and Mrs. John (Jonnita) Summey, Rt. 3, Sturgis, eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Wilma) Seanney of LaGrange, and three brothers, Maynard Faust of Sturgis, Johnny Faust of Florida and Kenneth Faust of Markle, Ind.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Frurip Funeral Home in LaGrange with the Rev. Charles Luhn, pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Sturgis, officiating. Burial will take place in English Prairie Cemetery, east of LaGrange.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Accident Occurs North of Sturgis on M-66
Crash Takes 2 Lives
A rural Sturgis woman and a Coldwater man are dead and two other persons are injured, one critically, as the result of a two-car head-on crash which occurred on M-66, about two miles north of Sturgis, Saturday evening.
Pronounced dead on the scene was Eugene Simenson, 54, of 35 E. Clark St., Coldwater. Lucille Bassett, 75, of Rt. 5, Sturgis, died in Sturgis Hospital at about 4:30 P.M., Sunday, from multiple injuries received in the crash. Mrs. Bassett’s husband, Lloyd C., 78, was listed in “critical” condition at Sturgis Hospital, late Monday morning, while Simenson’s wife, Irene, 37, was listed in “fair” condition at the Branch County Health Center, Coldwater.
Two other passengers in the Bassett car were Michael Dean Clutter, 18, of Rt. 5, Sturgis, and Carol Detloff, 18, of 110 Janet Ct., Sturgis. Clutter was said to have escaped injury in the crash, but Miss Detloff reportedly was treated for minor injuries and released from Sturgis Hospital.
According to White Pigeon State Police, the accident occurred on M-66, about 311 feet north of its intersection with Graylake Road at about 6 P.M., Saturday.
Officers said a car driven by Mr. Bassett, was headed north on M-66 when it apparently skidded across the center line and crashed, nearly head-on, with a southbound vehicle driven by Mr. Simenson. Troopers said the right front of the Bassett car crashed into the left front of the Simenson vehicle. Both cars were demolished in the accident.
Survivors of the crash were rushed to the Sturgis Hospital by Sturgis Community Ambulance. Mrs. Simenson later was transferred to the Branch County Health Center.
