He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., Feb. 20, 1901, the son of Alphonso and Gertrude (McAroy) Bassett, and lived here for the past 10 years. He was a driver for Woll’s Taxi Service. He leaves his wife, the former Laura Hamilton; a son, Norman of Providence, R.I.; a brother, Charles, and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Grayson, both of Scituate, R.I.; two grandchildren. Funeral will be Thursday at 8:30 at Birches funeral home with a high mass at 9 at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cransfield, R.I. Calling hours at the funeral home are today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, with the rosary to be recited at 8 p.m.
