Orval D. Crawford, 88, of Genoa died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at his home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1929 in Grayslake, IL. to Roy and Cecil (Bassett) Crawford. He married Juanita Durham on Feb. 17, 1952 in DeKalb. Orval was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the MASH unit.
He was a famer in the Kingston area and retired as a union carpenter in 1992, after 30 years of service. Orval was a avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Pinochle. He liked John Wayne movies, John Deere tractors and loved to go fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Maria (David) Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Andrew (Alissa) Johnson and Megan Johnson; one great grandson, Nickolas; his brother, Keith Crawford; 2 sisters, Juanita Munk and Sue (Wes) Leisburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; his granddaughter, Selena Johnson; 3 brothers, Bert, Mel and Robert and one sister, Irene Lotus.
His visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 18th from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. James P. Freund officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
