William J. Gagne, Jr.
William J. Gagne, Jr., 75, of 82 Tilton St., died Friday at a local nursing home. Born in Providence, R.I., Oct. 29, 1896, he was a Springfield resident the past 50 years. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was employed as an inspector at Springfield Armory for 25 years, retiring seven years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21, Veterans of World War I, Barracks 307, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Edith M. (Bassett) Gagne; three brothers, Raymond and Robert, both of Hudson, N.H., and Louis of Nashua, N.H.; and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Blow of Plattsburgh, N.Y. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Byron funeral home followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
