Mrs. Mary Bassett
Mrs. Mary Stone Hitchcock Bassett, 77, a member of one of Cleveland?s oldest families and a resident here all her life, died yesterday at her summer home in Vermilion.
She was the oldest of seven children of Horace Gaylord Hitchcock, who came to Cleveland from Connecticut as a young man. She was born in 1862 on her father?s farm, which was located on Euclid Avenue at what now is E. 72d street.
Her husband, the late Charles Osgood Bassett, was long identified with the Forman-Bassett Co., printing concern.
Two children, Laurence Brooks Bassett, president of the Bassett Co., lithographers, and Mrs. Louise Bassett Friebolin, survive.
Funeral services, not yet completed, will be private, the family said.
