- From Christopher Bassett, "John L. Bassett was so proud of having a son, John L. Bassett Jr., that he loaded up the family in a horse-drawn sleigh on a snowy evening and took them around to show off the baby. The baby and his wife caught a cold, which developed into pneumonia, and both died".
