Florence A. (VanCise) McBride
PERRY ? Florence A. (VanCise) McBride, 98, of Perry died Friday (Sept. 4, 2015) at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw where she had been residing.
She was born in Castile April 3, 1917, daughter of the late Daniel and Adelaide (Smith) Bassett VanCise.
Florence was a graduate of Castile High School. She worked at the former Ayers Drug Store in Perry and for many years was a saleswoman for Watkins Products.
She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry where she was active in many church including the church choir, a former deacon and elder. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Perry Chapter and Livingston County Chapter where she was a former treasurer for the Perry Chapter and New York State officer: Past Associate Grand Warder, and Daughters of the American Revolution, Wyoming County Chapter. She enjoyed knitting, golfing, bowling, playing bridge and the organ.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 year, Milo McBride who died in 1995; and a grandson, Gregory Wolcott, who died in 1995; two brothers, Charles Bassett and Earl VanCise; and two son-in-laws, Edward (Ted) Potts and John Wolcott.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois Potts of Williamsville and Bette Jean Wolcott of Perry; a son, Robert (Nancie) McBride of Ithaca; seven grandchildren, Thomas Potts (the late Michele Potts), Janet (Monty) Shatney, Andrew (Teena) Potts, Randy (Ellen) Jordon, Jeff (Debra) Jordan, Todd McBride and Kellie (Scott) Milhollen; 10 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Shatley, Zachery and Jodi Potts, Desiree, Tyler and Travis Jordon, Morgan, Autumn and Noelle Milhollen; four great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Brick Presbyterian Church, North Main Street, Perry.
She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
