He was born December 3, 1941 in Lansing, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Gertrude Bassett, and brother, Bruce Bassett. Tom graduated from Sexton HS, Class of 1960, and retired from Clark Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his family and winters in Palmetto, Florida. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Charlene; children, Theresa (Mike) Bell, Debbie Bell, Scott (Randi) Bassett; 8 grandchildren; sister, Diane Farmer; brother, David (Georgia) Bassett. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lansing, with Pastor Gary Simmons officiating. Interment will be at Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
