Bassett, age 87 of Talbotton, GA, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Columbus Medical Center, Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Talbotton Baptist Church, with interment at Oak Hill Mausoleum, Talbotton, GA with Rev. Jerry Corley officiating, assisted by Rev. James Emory. Mrs. Bassett was born May 21, 1922 in Talbot County, GA, a daughter of John Hosie Lee and Maude Howell Lee. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Bassett was preceded in death by her husband Eddie B. Bassett, Sr. Survivors include a daughter Quida F. Borders and her husband Church of Talbotton; two sons, Eddie B. Bassett, Jr. and his wife Mary of LaGrange, GA, John Lee Bassett and his wife M'Loa of Americus, GA,; two sisters, Mary Latta and her husband Marvin of Greensboro,NC, and Sarah Witworth and her husband Richard of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, Letisha Smith (Sykes), Baylor Bassett (Emily), Hank Borders (Brandi), Matt Borders, Sean Borders (Lisa), Heather Cleary (Jason), Matt Borders, Sean Borders (Lisa), Heather Cleary (Jason) and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Columbus hospice or Columbus Humane Society. Talbotton Funeral Home, Talbotton, GA, in charge of arrangements.
