Rites for C.E. Bassett
Funeral services for Clarence Edward Bassett, 73, of Malone, were held
Sunday at the Desnoyer’s Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Lanny Fox
officiating. Burial was in the Constable cemetery.
Mr. Bassett was stricken ill at his home Friday morning and was moved
by the Constable Rescue Company to the Alice Hyde Hospital where he was
pronounced dead on arrival.
He was born in Constable, June 30, 1901, a son of Charles W. and Ida
Mae Premo Bassett. He was a mechanic in the area for many years. He retired
some years ago.
He was married to the former Clara Castle, who predeceased him in 1946.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George (Hazel) Robare; Malone, two brothers,
Harry of Constable and Myron of McGraw; two sisters, Mrs. Annabelle Young,
Gaithersburg, Md., and Mrs. Mildred Wylie of Buena Park, Calif., six
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a
daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Malone, who was killed along with her husband in an
auto accident in August, 1963.
