  Notes	The Daily Press Utica, New York Monday, February 7, 1972 George J. Bassett FORESTPORT - George J. Bassett, 84, of Pond Avenue. a retired highway superintendent for the Town of Forestport, died Sunday in his home. He was born in Forestport and spent his entire life in this area. He was a World War I Navy veteran. He was employed as a molder at Hart and Crouse in Utica and later by the Town of Forestport Highway Department, serving as its superintendent for the past 18 years, retiring on January 1 of this year. Mr. Bassett married Nellie A. Nice in 1946 in New Hartford. He was a former member of the Forestport American Legion Besides his wife, he leaves two brothers, Wade F. of Fulton and Clarence, Forestport and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Wickham and Mrs. Laura D. Rogers, both of Utica. The funeral will be at 1 Tuesday from the Trianor Funeral Home with burial in Alder Creek Cemetery in the spring.
