John Kenneth (Jack) Bassett
Bassett - LEWISVILLE - John Kenneth (Jack) Bassett, 77, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 23, 1931 to the late Joseph and Marcella Bassett. Mr. Bassett loved the game of Squash and will be missed by many players young and old that he coached and influenced over the years. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Bassett. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Donna Webster Bassett, son, Mark Bassett and wife Patti of San Raphel, California, three daughters, Carol Matune, Columbus, Ohio, Anne Koballa and husband, Dennis of Durham, North Carolina, Jean Lucas of Omaha, Nebraska and son, Paul Bassett of Greenville, North Carolina, two brothers, James and William Bassett and one sister, Barbara McIver. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mr. Bassett' s final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be to Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 5950 Fairview Rd., Ste. 250, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210.
