COLUMBUS, GA? A homegoing celebration remembering Willie James Bass, Sr., of 4335 Braddock Drive, Columbus will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 2:00 in the afternoon in the Sanctuary of The Greater Beallwood Baptist Church. The funeral cortege will depart the residence at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Willie L. Hill will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel, Columbus. Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Willie James Bass, Sr., is the son of the late Willie Bass and Lula Mae Cobb Bass. He was born in Columbus, Georgia on March 18, 1940. He received his primary and secondary education in the Muscogee County School District. Willie accepted Christ, and joined the Greater Beallwood Baptist Church at an early age. Willie James Bass was employed by Green Island Country Club until his health failed. He departed this life at the Azalea Trace Nursing Home in Columbus on Friday, September 30. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jacqueline Harris (Oscar) of Columbus, Willie Bass, Jr., (Faye) of Salem, AL, and Nicole Bass of Smiths Station, AL; three brothers, Theodis Bass (Lula) of Columbus, Robert Bass (Annie) of Columbus, and Jessie Bass of Columbus; and two sisters, Amanda Mitchell (James) of Columbus, and Ethel Moore of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Sherronda Gates (Scott) of Columbus, Nikeyta Jackson of Miami, FL, Jadrian Jackson of Columbus, Therman Barnes of Columbus, Sylvia Barnes of Columbus, Shannon and Rachel Bass of Salem, and Alexandria Williams of Smiths Station; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
