Charles Ackerman Bassett
Charles Ackerman Bassett died Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Jefferson Barracks hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.
He was born Oct. 22, 1894, at Effingham and had attained the age of 54 years, eight months and two days. He was married to Renee Deprez on Dec. 16, 1919, in New York, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Louis, two grandchildren and three brothers, Frank of Effingham and Earl and Heywood of Mason City, Ia.
He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the VFW Post 1299 and the Last Man's club. He was employed at U.S. Radiator company.
The body may be viewed at the Schneider funeral home after 9 o'clock this evening. Services will be held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. L.C. Boergadine officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery with the VFW in charge.
Pallbearers were Fez Hill, Ravilo Carter, Oliver Wilhold Sr., Herbert Henke, Louis Schmidt and William Meikamp.
