Miss Bassette becomes bride at St. Thomas
Miss Barbara Ellen Bassette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Bassette of 180 Columbia St., Adams, became the bride of Joseph Oleskiewicz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Oleskiewicz of 209 Columbia St., Saturday morning.
The Rev. Timothy J. Champoux, DCL, performed the 11 a.m. ceremony in St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Mrs. David Hakes, vocalist, was accompanied by Mrs. Donald Marcotte, organist.
A reception at Taconic Park Restaurant, Williamstown, was held following the ceremony.
Mrs. William Bassette of Adams, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Peter Oleskiwicz of North Adams, Mrs. William Oleskiewicz of Adams, both sisters-in-law of the bridgegroom, Miss Susan O’Neill of North Adams, and Miss Ann Asaevich of Adams, friends of the bride, junior bridesmaid was Miss Bette Jean Bassette of Adams, sister of the bride, Flower girl was Miss Rebecca Bassette of Adams, the bride’s niece.
Paul Oleskiewicz of North Adams, served as his brother’s best man. Ushers were Paul Bassette of North Adams and William Bassetts of Adams, brothers of the bride, Peter Oleskiewicz of North Adams and William Oleskiewicz of Adams, brothers of the bridegroom, Michael Oleskiewicz of Adams, another brother of the bridegroom was junior usher and his nephew, Peter J. Oleskiewicz of North Adams was ring bearer.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an A-line white satin gown accented with two bands of Alencon lace and seeded pearls on either side of the empire waistline, high neckline, bishop sleeves, with Alencon lace and seeded pearls and a full cathedral length train, also with Alencon lace. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was fastened to a matching Camelot. She carried a cascade bouquet of white miniature carnations and stephanotis and red sweetheart roses, accented with ivy.
The matron of honor, junior bridesmaid, and flower girl wore empire-styled ruby red velvet gowns with ivory lace trim, and headpieces to match. Each carried a basket of white and ruby red pompons and moss green baby’s breath. The bridesmaids wore similar gowns in moss green velvet and headpieces to match. They carried baskets of yellow and white pompons and ruby red baby’s breath.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Oleskiewicz graduated from Adams Memorial High School. Mrs. Oleskiewicz is a licensed practical nurse at the Adams Nursing Home, Inc., North Adams. She graduated from the Charles H. McCann School of Practical Nursing. Mr. Oleskiewicz is employed at North Adams State College, with Genco Construction Co.
Following a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will be at home at 7 Burt St., after Dec. 6.
