CENTERVILLE — Sallie Smith Bassett, 74, died Friday, April 8, 2011, in an auto accident while in Florida. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Tommy Cagle and Dennis Tidwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheboss Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. She was a native of Hickman County, daughter of Emit Smith and Agness House Smith and was retired from Levi Strauss. Sallie’s husband, Clarence “Joe” Bassett, died with her in the accident. Survivors include daughters Janie Mash of Hampshire, Veronica Benson of Loretto and Pam Hubert of Massachusetts; son Ronald Skipper of Mt. Pleasant, sister Marion George of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Janie Mash, Hampshire; Veronica Benson, Loretto; Pam Hubert, MA; son, Ronald Skipper, Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; Sallie's sister, Marion George, Birmingham; and Joe's brother. Services, 1 p.m.. Fri.
