- MACON - Frances Newell Bassett, 93, formerly of 1330 Forsyth Street, died Monday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church with interment in Macon Memorial Park. Rev. David Hunter will officiate. Serving as Pallbearers will be Earl Bassett, Mike Bassett, Kevin Bassett, Michael Bassett, Brian Bassett, and Chad Little. The family will meet friends from 7-9 p.m., Thursday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, and may be contacted at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Boyce McClung, 4367 Vallie Court, Macon, GA 31204. Mrs. Bassett, wife of the late Rember E. Bassett, was born in Houston County, daughter of the late Ovid Garrett and Maude Rape Newell. She had lived in macon most of her life and was formerly a salesperson at Peggie Hale Dress Shop. Mrs. Bassett was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught the four and five-year-olds in Sunday School for more than forty years and had sung in the Church Choir for many years. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Young-N-Heart. Survivors include two sons, R. Earl (Madelyn) Bassett, Jr., Norcross and Mike (Kay) Bassett, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Kevin Bassett, Norcross, Michael D. Bassett, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Brian H. Bassett, Perkins, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Haleigh Bassett and Averee Bassett. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
