Ruby Eleanor Bass

Ruby Eleanor Bass, 85, of Henry, passed away Wednesday April 6, 2022, 10:25 am at County Comfort Retirement Home, Henry. Visitation will be Friday April 8, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Henry United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 am at the church, with an hour prior visitation. Rev. Will Meachum will officiate. Burial will follow at Toulon Cemetery, Toulon, IL. Memorials may be made to the Henry United Methodist Church, or to the MSW Projects. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Henry is in charge of arrangements. Ruby was born March 6, 1937, in Modena TWP, IL to Elmer and Hazel (Hall) Thurston. She married Roger L. Bass on June 21, 1959, in Elmira, IL. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2019. Surviving are her children, Ann Lindstrom, Julie Briner, both of Henry and Danny (Mary) Bass, of Brooklyn, Iowa. Six grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Tasha, Jolynn, Nikki, and Daniel, fifteen great-grandchildren, one brother. Elmer Thurston, Jr., of Galva, two sisters, Doris Stevenson, of CA and Mary Gramery, of IN. Her parents, one grandson, Nathan Bass, one brother, Kenneth, and one sister, Shirley Wilmes, and her dog Cody, preceded her in death. Ruby was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church. Her and Roger were members of the Chillicothe Sportsman Club, and the ASPCA. She had started working as a CNA in Kewanee. She later worked for over 30years at the Henry Senachwine Grade School as the noon supervisor and worked in the kitchen. She will be remembered for her love of decorating and the holidays; and dressing up for Halloween and visiting the Grade School for many years after her retirement.
