Alma Delores Bass Blood
Alma Delores Bass Blood passed away at the age of 94 on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Bayou Bend Hospital in Franklin.
Alma was born on June 17, 1929 in Bunkie, LA and was the eldest of two children born to the union of David and Felicity Bass. She married the love of her life, Johnny Blood and they raised their family of four sons. Alma was a phenomenal cook and was especially known for her fried chicken, homemade biscuits, and wood duck gumbo to name a few. She was also passionate about quilting, belonging to several quilting groups, and enjoyed gardening with her husband.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her three sons, Charlie Blood and his wife Cassandra, John Wylie Blood Jr. and his wife Dinah, and Ricky L. Blood and his wife Bridget; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Blood; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy C. Blood, Jennifer Manuel, Lauren Michel, Nicole Bryan, Amanda Rister, Scott Paul Blood, Danielle B. Marcotte, Jonathon D. Blood, Christina Irving, Brandon M. Blood, Zachary Blood, Coty Bergeron, Brandon Darden, and Jessica B. Hebert; 33 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John Wylie ?Johnny? Blood Sr.; her son, Herschel Glenn Blood; her parents, David Webster Bass and Felicity Gorum Bass Johnson; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Helen Bass; and her granddaughter, Angelle E. Blood.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Ibert?s Mortuary in Franklin at 1:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 12:30 PM. Following the service Ms. Alma will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Teche Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Minister Bobby Newsom will conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon D. Blood, Jeremy C. Blood, John Higdon, Patrick Hebert, Wilson Judice, and Coty Bergeron.
The family would like to thank Dr. Roland Degeyter and his staff, the staff of Bayou Bend Hospital, her caregivers, Nell Hopkins, Paulette Rineholt, and Judy Blood, as well as Bobby and Carolyn Judice for visiting her every day.
