Born August 26, 1951 to the late Robert and Lucille Bassett, he lived 20 years in Alexandria, Virginia, before returning home to Dawsonville in 1998. Until his retirement, Mr. Bassett worked as a general contractor, and afterwards, he enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and James Cowart of Hayesville, NC; son and daughter-in-law, James and Meighan Bassett of Gainesville; grandchildren, Kellsie, Logan, Claire, and Tressa; and a number of other relatives. A private family ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
