Notes	The Brisbane Courier, Queensland, Australia, Friday, 17 Feb 1928 Ipswich Resident?s Tragic Death IPSWICH, February 16. A little after 6 o?clock this morning Mrs. Bassett, of Canning-lane, off Down-street, North Ipswich, found her husband, Mr. Richard Bassett, dead, hanging by the neck from a rafter of the back verandah. Mr. Bassett had been suffering from heart trouble for some time, and had been under medical attention. He went to bed fairly early on Wednesday night, and apparently slept well. According to his usual custom, the rose early. When his wife went outside she found him, in his pajamas, hanging by a thin rope from a rafter of the verandah, his feet only a few inches from the ground. A fruit-case near him appeared to have been pushed away from under his feet. Mrs. Bassett called a neighbor, Mr. J. Devon, who took the body down, and called Sergeant M?Coy, of the North Ipswich police. An ambulance officer was also called, and the Government Medical Officer, Dr. Patterson, was brought.
