- In Memory, Arthur Bassett (Kendallville, Ind.)
Arthur "Art" Bassett, 78 died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday in White Ridge Care Center, Lee's Summit, Mo.
He was born in South Milford Nov. 15, 1919, to George and Sylvia Mae (Eshelman) Bassett. On Nov. 26, 1969, in Harrisville, Mo., he married Dolores Dawson McBride. She survives.
Mr. Bassett was a printer for the Association of Unity Church before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a Sunday school teacher in Unity Village, Mo., and a past Cub Scout leader.
Surviving with his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Joyce Bassett of Harlan, and Gary and Jane Bassett Sr. of Fort Wayne; a stepson, Steve McBride of Kansas City, Kan; a sister, Garnet Crist of Warsaw; two brothers, Russell Bassett of San Marcos, Calif., and Bernard Bassett of Hudson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville, with the Rev. Carol Mahaffey officiating. Burial will be in South Milford Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon until services on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
