Bass
Mr. Joseph Dalon Bass, 72, 1821 South Main Street, died Tuesday at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 10, 1911, in Surry County to James C. and Ellen Norman Bass. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Bass retired from Forsyth County Health Dept. in Sept. 1977 after 24 years of service. Mr. Bass was a Mason, a member of Salem Lodge No. 289, a member of Winston-Salem Shrine Club, The Oasis Temple, Winston-Salem York-Rite Bodies, The White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Piedmont Commandery. He was married to the former Mary Labert, Sept. 15, 1940, who survives of the home, also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Lola Jones and one brother, H. Glenn Bass, both of Winston-Salem, a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Vogler?s Main Street Chapel with the Rev. J. Wilson Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Vogler?s Main Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to The Masonic Home, Greensboro or to Southside Baptist Church.
